@@LoryK98 Liam, Travis, Marisha and Taliesin all fully thought they were going to be the 'weird one' this time around. Instead we have a party of insane people. Love it
843 PD, based on the critrole wiki timeline. Campaign 2 ended in 836, and the Darrington Brigade one shot occured in 826. Which means that in only 17 years stories of The Owlbear have traveled from the southern corner of the Dwendallian Empire in Wildmount to other continents and people such as both Ashton Greymore and Lord Eshteross have heard them.
@@birdflip2906 if you have a copy of of Tal'dorei Reborn on page 265 is a portrait of the De Rolo family as of 832 PD. If the Bells Hells travel to Whitestone the youngest children in that picture would be in their late teens and adventure ready. Something to think about, especially with Lady Delilah Briarwoods involvement and manipulation within the Hells.
@@jlokison this campaign 3 has the potential to be both a nostalgic masterpiece and the most well planned history yet, the thies and backstory they have can come to breath taking moments (already had, by the way). I'm so excited, more so with this late calamity mini series. It's a beautiful time to be alive in the rpg industry.
Talieson is usually taking a backseat to everyone else because cad doesn't have a very dominant personality, but him playing owlbear just proves how hilarious he can be
I still love laura's reaction to hearing that the meteor hit a duck pond at 9:01 of immediately bursting into laughter, realizing that she probably shouldnt be laughing about it, and covering her mouth lmao
He has a real love of barbarians, probably because of Grog, but he always hypes it up, hopefully we'll get another vox machina vs the mighty nein soon and get the Grog vs Yasha fight we've all been waiting for
@@alphabetsoup6837 That would likely end with keyleth vs. Yasha since both are basically unk8llable by normal means. Yasha literally can't die through damage, only insta kull stuff or th8ngs like disintegrate, and keyleth basically has an infinite amount of health, because she can A. Heal herself, and B. Just keep turning into an earth elemental or something to get back to over 100 hp. But because keyleth has spells, she's probably more likely to win. Seriously, how are you supposed to defeat a level 20 moon druid?
I love how Travis, (Being the resident Barbarian expert) tried to correct Taliesin about what was halved, however he was shocked to learn that the fire damaged was still halved for him. Best thing for me personally.
I just had a mental image of the Mighty Nein meeting the Owlbear, and by that point in the timeline he's gone full "crazy old man" Frank Miller Batman.
Fun Fact: Owls are dumb as sand. No joke, I learned this from a woman who works with raptors/predatory birds. She told the audience that owls have an amazing sensory package but virtually zero smarts.
These very much seem like one shot characters. They're amazing, and I'd love to see more of them, but they'd wear very thin very quickly for an entire campaign.
19:09 Ok, this one has to be the best pun solely on the basis of how unexpected yet totally appropriate it is. For those not in the know- Duck Tales lyrics. DUCK Tales.
Lyrics: You may have heard of my exploits, they’re whispered... whispered in places where evil gather. Where monsters and demons try and thwart mankind..... Criminals and monsters... they’re superstitious... timid... and... Two of the worlds greatest predators: The owl And the bear While frightening, strike nowhere near as much terror As that alliance between them. I am known as.... THE OWLBEAR.
@@FrostyTheSnowPickle Not sure about that. I don’t think you can say any martial character is the most broken in the game, because magic is utterly ridiculous in 5e. The Sorlock is a pretty potent and powerful combo, constantly throwing around high level smites. Throw in one level of Hexblade so all you need is Charisma
@@yooooo8600 Level 2 barbarian gets Reckless Attack, which gives advantage on your attacks but makes attacks against you have advantage. Level 18 rogue has a feature that makes no attacks against you have advantage. Rogues get sneak attack on attacks with advantage. Plus you get all the broken features of rogue and you get the barbarian’s rage.
I seriously hope we'll get more of them. Not just The Owlbear, all of the characters they crafted for this one shot were super lovable and memorable. There is so much to be explored with them too! I want to know more about Damian's family, about Macaroni's god, and how he and Buddy met...
17 years later, a completely different continent, and people like Ashton and Eshteross both have heard stories of The Owlbear. Makes me also wonder if Beauregard has actually met him in the 7 years since the end of campaign 2 while she actively deals with corruption across the Dwendallian Empire.
Jordan Stolp True, but if you mainly focus on long range by using a cross bow or gun (depending on the campaign setting) you could help to mitigate the enemies dealing a shit load of damage to you
JCProfit unfortunately that’s not how that works. You can only Reckless attack if you’re using your strength stat with a melee weapon. If you want to use ranged weapons then your Barbarian levels aren’t doing much for you because you need 13 strength to multi class into or out of it. Also he does need to be using a finesse melee weapon so no great weapon master or polearm master unfortunately.
David Hudgin I’m sorry to say but you can’t use sneak attack with a Greatsword; it needs to be a finesse weapon like a dagger, rapier, hand crossbow or whip.
