Here is our first video for our monotone portrait collection, in this video we talk about mixing and matching colour and how to break down the process before we start to paint
I have been watching videos for a year now trying to learn what I can and this is hand's down the best or most informative for me, thanks for your time to help out this retired fellow, please keep going!!
sorry for english, I'm using the translator my name is Sander Sanches and I am very happy to have found this channel, I identified myself a lot with your method, thank you very much, thank you very much. Here in Brazil and difficult materials for airbrushing.
Mick, Thank you so much for this informative video! I think this is my favorite video from you as of yet and cannot wait for the next in the series! Again, thank you so much.
Thanks so much Mick. I've struggled with colour theory and your explanation has helped it finally click. I do a variety of art but mostly interested in portrait and animal portraits. Will doing a workshop with Dru Blair later this year here in Australia to also see his approach and hopefully improve. The colour theory will help me with flesh tones for my interest in flat mood prosthetics that I will be incorporating into my face and body art, so this has helped me on several levels. Again thanks for giving me a way to understand. Will be following this tutorial and hoping time will prevail to allow me to get into it.
Thanks so much for taking the time to teach others your tips and tricks I learned so much from your videos which is amazing hoping to see a lot more of your work thanks again
Thanku for explaining what to do on canvases. I find your teaching the easiest to understand than most videos. Maybe it's because i was born in england haha
Mick, these are the best of your videos so far! Nice job. One question: Where did you source the florist's wrap? Might be an idea to put links to stuff (or guidance on where to buy) in the description.
Mick you are a incredible artist , iam new with air brushing pictures , I've been air brushing crankbaits for 4yrs.an I want to start airbrushing portaits an more, what do you suggest I start practicing with.
Hey Mick, thanks for the awesome content and time spent teaching us. All very helpful indeed. You are greatly appreciated! Is there any way, when you get time of course, to go over a couple different medium types that you paint on? I'm having difficulty finding a decent substrate to use. The different papers I've used don't allow for scraping and erasing very well as they are very absorbent. I heard you mention canvas and gesso. Are there any others? Just something you could cover quickly without taking up a lot of your valuable time? Thanks man for anything you can come up with.
Muy buenas noches..Ante todo un cordial saludo..estoy mirando sus videos.y queria preguntarle que tipo de papel utiliza para poder hacer esas sustracciones con el borrador y con el exacto...muchas gracias.
Ibrahim Dilek hiya, the mix is approx 60% white 40% black, reduce as needed for flow, I dont tend to use reducer much but a good start point is 2:1 (2parts redu er to 1 part paint) Hope this helps Mick
For this project i used a synthetic paper, if you gesso the canvas and sand smooth this will help, also gesso is really absorbent, so i add a couple of coats of medium or spray varnish first. If i use varnish i will need to sand it slightly to give the paint a key, this will allow me to erase and scrape, without doing this the canvas or the gesso will just suck in the paint and make it difficult to erase on, hope this helps
Thank you so much! Great tip! I don't think mine is coming out too bad but I will do that next time. Wish i knew how to send it to you for your opinion lol
A bit of both, light layers are easier to erase and create textures, thicker paint or heavier application causes harsh marks rather than subtle textures
Great tutorials . The only thing is can you turn the volume up on the talking please as I've had to have my Volume on Max to hear most of your talking.
