watching this in my hotel, having ridden all day to get to the Cairngorm's, was cold wet, and miserable, totally knackered, was inspired by your good self, thanks tmf.
I know this was 4 years ago but Im just about to do a Norway trip, already shipped the bike, just reminding myself where I want to visit by watching youtube videos. Great resource, thanks!
Very enjoyable, the scenery doesn't fail to impress. The contrast of the countryside is spectacular. After having covered many miles on horseback I have always said bikers are always the most considerate people to meet while out. Nice to see you give them a thought.
I have to say, the route planning is spot on! That is exactly where I would ride between Lillehammer and Trondheim on a big touring bike without gravel tires on;)
Great video. When I rode in Norway last year I was not blessed with such weather though (about 70/30 sunshine/rain). I identified one rule in Norway: if the cloud ahead is grey it rains (unlike the UK when you can have a grey sky without it raining). Looking forward to the next episode!
North Utah USA where I live been dry all but one day in my area for 5 months, I can't wait for rain. Dust, fires, air pollution, too much pollen and nasty wasp not HONEY BEES like the old days,
My favorite bike reviewer in my neck of the woods. What's not to like? Can't wait for the footage from the west coast, hope you had good weather for it! PS: The lake/fjord at the start of the video is a river ;)
When you consider "The Gods made Norway" and the left-over rubble was used elsewhere in the world I can see why you made reference to wales/scotland/spain/canada but for me it beats everywhere else. Another great video, thanks.
Those bridges were all over the eastern US when I was young. Now they only exist in the western US till they get time to be replaced. Some places looked like the Rockies in the US. Great video.
Another great video from TMF. Just purchased a GS Rallye three weeks ago :-) Your informative videos on all matters GS are extremely useful and I cannot wait to start touring on it.
You would love the lenticular clouds we get here in McMurray, especially in the spring. Sometimes they are in stacks. If I think of it I will snap some pics for you if we get some good ones. They usually have very crisp sharp edges, very UFOish.
Hooray, the next episode I was eager to see. I've seen many Stavkirker in Norway. Beautiful wooden structures made without any metal nails. I've visited this one also. You should visited the inside of one of them. Your Garmin records the track you ride, including speed, height and distace. Use Basecamp to read it out. Norway keeps giving and giving. You will love the cathedral and surroundings in Trondheim. Hope you visited the fort. It looks like the roads have improved since 2012. Go 1 mile of the road and you'll be in the middle of nowhere. The cheapest way is the supermarket and make your own sandwiches. You mainly used the main roads. I used the smaller ones to see more cracking landscapes and have almost no traffic. North of Trondheim, near Steinkjer, there are stone carvings from the Viking era. You have to visit Norway again. You missed a lot due to the long journeys you made.
18:37 🤔😂😂😂 Made me chuckle! The entire planet is stunning, its only people who knacker it..... Norwegians give a damn about the wilderness & with a decent infrastructure..... all's good!
Watching you from around 7000 feet in the Grand Tetons National Park. It is pretty warm over here right now, as well. Vacationing and watching you travel seems quite decadent. 😃
for some unknown reason I missed Hell .... I love those lenticular clouds as well ... see lots of them in south of Spain - I tend to spend a lot of time in the Sierra Nevada mountains looking forward to the next episode
Brilliant that was Friday nights viewing thanks TMF, that was great. When you can’t get out on your bike, just watch TMF on his, happy days, cheers buddy🏍👍. I’ve got Monday off so planning a big ride up the west coast of Scotland on my new GSA
TheMissendenFlyer Yes saw them both, I live in the Trossachs so the west coast is really easy for me, one of my regular rides is to leave home at 7am on a Sunday morning and be having my breakfast in Oban by 8.30. Happy days, thanks again 👍🏍
HELL. Gods expedition. 😂 ..and don't be to afraid of getting a ticket. I live in Norway and haven't got a ticket in 20 + years Slow down in urban 50 and 60 sones, and you'll be fine ☺ Love the series, looking forward to the episode were you ride pass my hometown 👍☺
My feelings so far? Excellent riding, plenty of info as you ride along, temp, elevation etc and the scenery, well as you said, this is why we ride. I sincerely hope I ride again in the future, because I want to ride up there with my crazy Aussie friend, RM K! Can't wait to see part four.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Cannot wait to see it! After watching your excellent review of the Yamaha T Max, I am more than likely going to be choosing that for my next bike. You see I had to have my lower left leg amputated due to injuries sustained in the crash in the Scottish Borders last year. I'm determined to ride again (I was T boned by a sports bike) and although I adore the FJR1300, I think it may be too heavy for me with my prosthetic leg? Regards. Paul.
Fun to see you riding through what is for me familiar territory, i live in trondheim. If you happened to see a speed triple while you were there it might just have been me.
Ma786sai Truly your videos are utterly remarkable to so so many ways. Appreciate And take immense delight in them. The 2017 R1200R that I recently acquired I’m letting go, I did it too light. Taking a 2006 R1200GS in its place. Somehow I find the 06 GS much better planted and I prefer the overall feel of this GS. I have ridden the newer water cooled GS yet prefer the older 2006. Lot more charm. I own a R100RS 1979, K1200RS 1999, Superblackbird 2001 also. God bless u Cyrus
Great accompaniment to my morning cuppa, I really enjoyed that, TMF. I particularly liked the audio quality and your pithy commentary. The GS sounded good too. But £15 for a snack? Ye gods!! Keep 'em coming... and thanks 👍
Great footage from your gopro hero 4, clear and sharp until it gets bugged. Watching on a damp dreary summers day in Blighty, aching slightly from riding yesterday, planning a European tour someday..great inspiration.
Hi from Norway! If you think this roads are fantastic, I can’t wait to se you’re trip back home in Vestlandet 😅 Really great series and heartwarming comments from a great bike tourist . Keep up the good work 👍🏻
This man speaks the truth. Mountain roads, coastal roads, turquoise lakes, fjords, waterfalls, beaches, rainforest NZ has amazing geographical diversity for a relatively small country. North Island ain't half bad either.
Any time, there are plenty of us who would provide you with an escort around the country. When you are coming all this way, it would be best to come for a few weeks, don't do the usual tourist thing and imagine you can ride the whole country in 10 days ;-)
Wow! If you get the wet and cold weather that we had in Norway last year you are going to be a bit damp and chilly after 300 miles. I am thinking of buying new Oxford textile kit and am keen to hear your review. Hope it's good for your sakes! Looking forward to the next episode
Ah, my Friday is now complete, another great one TMF. I will be out on the bike tomorrow myself, although not quite as exciting, State inspection (MOT) time.😭
Agreed. Truly beautiful scenery, sadly the vast majority of them hate the English. (irritating, given we shovel millions of pounds over Hadrian's wall each week !)
@@maxflight777 considerably less than the revenue from our oil and whiskey. To be honest though it's prats like you that convinced me to vote yes in the referendum... oh aye and know doubt you are a brexiteer ... nice one mate🤣
@@maxflight777 Both statements untrue. Have lived in Scotland more than 20 years and have never encountered hatred. As for the second statement Scotland has the capacity to be self sufficient and will be come independence. This site is about bikes why introduce your bigotry?
Fuel range : I have the GSA & have tested range (carried a spare can!!) - Fuel range display reduces to "---", then stays there, so best to remember mileage or reset one of the trips. I then managed to ride a further 43 miles before bike sputtered to a halt :-) This is useful info when touring. For the standard GS, the 'Reserve may be slightly less, but I do recommend you test it out when you are home - just for peace of mind... #TravellingWizzard
