My mom was out of town for a few weeks, in those weeks I've not slept well because of gaming. One night I heard my mom say "Ryan, Igarunga?" (Ryan, can you help me?) I thought she came back and needed help with the bags so I went to front door to get my shoes. Just when I put my hand on the doorknob, a message "Your brother has another appointment in three weeks so we'll be late.", I went to my room to play my game again, hoping to stop shaking at the thought of a banshee or something worse wasn't going to bang on my bedroom door or window.

Same thing happened to me when I was 13, I was in the living room with 2 friends and my mum and dad were at the pub. The front door opened and my mum said Jennifer I said what. Then JENNIFER. And my friends said ooh your in trouble, I said WHAT.Then she said really angrily JENNIFER, I stood up whent to the door and noone was there. My friend scampered off. I sat on the doorstep with my dog and waited till my parents got home

I frequently pull all nighters and have horror binges. I don't recommend it if you have to work the next day but if you've got a couple of days off, try staying up for well over 24 hours and suddenly everything becomes hilarious. Don't stay up much longer than two days, though or you'll end up freaking out like these guys.

Laugh at me if you may, When I was 15 I had my 1st sleep paralysis. My older brother told me he went 2 days without sleep and it made his eyes and mind play tricks on him. I myself don’t drink or do drugs, but a chance to trip for a second sounded neat to me, so I tried to One-up my brother. I stayed up for 3 days (no sleep, no naps) I spent my time on RU-vid, watching movies and playing games. I told my brother “it isn’t working. I stayed up for 3 days but it won’t work on me.” Few hours pass, I was paranoid somebody was watching me, as hilarious as it is, i looked out the window and my reflection frightened me. I laughed it off and told myself it’s okay. I decided, you know what, I need sleep. I went to my room, but I don’t remember falling asleep.. Terrified, it appeared I woke up in a dark tunnel with a bright light in the distance. It kept getting further as I walked towards it. A deep voice told me “You will never escape.” I woke up in my room, “a dream?” I thought. I heard a girl behind, she told me “he’s right you know.” I couldn’t turn to look at her, I was terrified I couldn’t move a muscle no matter how I tried. Again, I woke up in my room. This time I could move, she was a light skin girl, black short hair covering half her face. She wasn’t talking. She scratched the wall for a while then started crawling towards me. Terrified I began to scream for help at the top of my lungs and nobody in the house could hear, I noticed while I thought i was screaming I had no voice. One last time, I woke up. I was screaming for help, no longer in danger. No girl, I could move. Still calling for help I ran downstairs. I cried. “It was just a dream, I’m going to alright.” I went back up stairs to my mom and dads room, they were asleep. “Did they not hear me?” I asked myself. I woke up my dad and told him everything that I could remember, not that it was easy to forget. I was scared and in tears. Him and my older brother explained sleep paralysis to me and i felt more calm about the immersive experience. Thanks for listening, if you read the whole thing. Since then, I haven’t dare tried staying up for more than 1 day.

Scary Jonny Twisted Rapper I had a very mild sleep paralysis experience. I also heard a voice. I was lying in my bed and it was dark but somehow I knew something was under my desk even though I couldn’t see that from my bed with the added darkness. I tried to yell out to my mother but it was like I couldn’t gather enough energy to speak . A similar sensation as if you were having trouble taking in air except with my voice. “Feed me candy.” Not exactly that terrifying on paper but just the fact that it came from a foreign voice in the dark out of sight made it horrifying. My dream ended after that I think.
@MrSnowmanJoe

I had this one sleep paralysis experience where I was lying on my stomach face down and couldn't move (obviously). I couldn't see anything because I was on my back, but I did hear something that sounded like a man saying, "I'm going in dry!" I thought to myself, "Miss me with that gay shit." and woke up. It was weird.

Scary Jonny Twisted Rapper I've stayed up for 4 nights without sleep before. None of that happened, what did happen though... the voices in my head, kept, taking over, I wasn't in control past the third day, and ever since then, we're able to switch control all the time, and, well, only one of them is very murderous, the rest of us just have a disdain for humans. I also have only dreamt 34 times since then, that was 6 years ago

This is like a modern Dreams in the Witch House by HP Lovecraft. Dreams, obsession, fringe ideas, gradual loss of faculties and perception of reality, entities and presences appearing and vanishing into strange angles that can't properly be perceived. Some nice similarities, freshly written. Even if there was no original inspiration from Howard's story. Would actually dig to see this continued or explored further, at the risk of making something unnecessarily bigger than it needs to be.

Weird story. I'm from Arkansas. My ex lived up in the Ozarks and we decided to just drive down random roads through the mountains one day. We got to this place that had a big concrete structure. It looked like a concrete building, but it didn't have a roof, or doors, or windows. Just a giant concrete box. Something about it didn't feel right. We both really wanted to know what it was. But we both felt like we shouldn't go near it. We both wanted to leave it alone and forget about it; but neither of us wanted to leave without knowing what it was. Then, we started hearing footsteps come up the slope through the woods at us. We said "that's not a person. It's got to be a deer or something." We both knew it was a person. You spend enough time in the woods, and you learn the distinct sound boots make when they're heading up a hill. There's a certain amount of labor put into each step that makes it really obvious that the footsteps are coming from something with two legs. It sounded really close, but we couldn't see anything. We were in the woods, on a mountain, and on someone else's property in Arkansas. We still really wanted to know what the deal with that concrete structure was; but we knew what could happen if whoever was heading up through the woods got to us - so we bolted. We heard a gunshot right as we got back to the car. Every so often, I get hung up on the thought that I should go back. I still really want to know what might have been inside; and what purpose it might have had. I probably would have gone a long time ago if I had a way to do it. This isn't me trying to write a creepypasta here, either. The story about a big concrete structure in the backwoods of Arkansas just reminded me of it. If you want to find out for me, go to Guion, Arkansas. Just east of town (highway 58 North), there's an abandoned church (It's really tiny, but you'll be able to tell it's a church. There's still a piano inside too). Go a bit further, and the road will be up on your right. There's a couple of forks on that road; but I don't remember which ones to take. It'll just be trial and error; but it shouldn't be hard to find. 58 is the only road that goes to Guion.

this was great. I'm not sure why, but when listening to scary shit on yt, I try to find things are are somewhat relatable to me. Why? Not sure. But even though I can't exactly relate to this, I do have sleep issues, and that's why I loved this :3

as a story this is actually crazy good written. the theoretical discussions in the beginning help the listener make his own assumptions and they could vary by many. honestly bravo. this was one of the best ones I've listened to in a while.

This story is one of those rare stories that really makes you think about the nature of the universe itself. And once you start thinking that deep, it genuinely scares you on a level you've never been scared before.

If it would work: in your sleep, your dreams expose you to your hopes and fears. If you don’t dream and see your fears in dreams, your brain will expose you to your fears in real life, that means you will hallucinate very hard

The only problem with his hypothesis about sleep being necessary to protect us form something else, is papa have FFI (Fatal Familial Insomnia) cannot physically sleep and survive for years or even over a decade without sleeping a minute.
