Having an off-grid, overland adventure in Australia has been a dream of mine for a long time and finally, that dream is coming true. On this expedition, Regena and I travel to the Land Down Under with our good friend Marco and his family to meet up with the Justin and his son Christian from Patriot Campers and set off to explore one of the most iconic off-road destinations in Eastern Australia, the famous K’gari Island (Fraser Island), a designated World Heritage site.
We will spend the next several days exploring the magical beauty of the world’s largest sand island and find out there is so much more to the island than beautiful beaches. But this adventure is not just about wheeling and camping, we had the unique experience of being personally welcomed by Traditional Owners with a smoking ceremony and learning more about the history and culture of K’gari.
But before we hit the beach and trails, we were invited to check out the Patriot Campers factory and see where the trailers I’ve been towing for years are made. I love seeing how things are made and learning about the process, the precision, and hard work that goes into every single build has given me a new appreciation for the high quality of these rugged trailers. At the end of our tour, we finally get to see what we’ll be driving and towing on this Australian adventure for the next several days.
This whole adventure was an incredible once in a lifetime experience, but it wasn’t without a few challenges along the way. Tune in and ride along with us as we discover the magic of Australia’s K’gari Island!
