Yeah. They really got me with that one. It seemed like it would be a shoe-in best take on MP, and it ended up being one of the worst. Best part of the game was more Deem Bristow (as Eggman/Robotnik) as he had an incredible voice for him. So hearing more of him was the plus. Otherwise, a big disappointment.
It's kinda weird that they fumbled the bag with Sonic Shuffle considering they had their own Mario Party clone in the form of Bomberman Land for PlayStation (Which was japan exclusive, there is a Bomberman Land for the DS but that plays like a regular Bomberman game, the PS one had minigames and such)
That Shrek Party game was a fundraiser prize for those school selling pizzas thing and I remember being very upset after Insold like 50 - 75 pizzas and got this game 😂😂😂
I had no consoles to play games and even if I had, none of my local friends or immediate family would be interested to join me for digital board game chaos, so I appreciate your reviews, Skooch. It almost allows me to see all that my childhood could've been. (walks off into the sunset playing the smallest violin)
Imma just have to say, it makes me sad how many stopped viewing cause you quit league, especially since these videos are just a joy to experience and pure quality entertainment.
I think it's really interesting that basically no developer has been able to make a good Mario Party-esque game. Even Nintendo really seems to struggle after 7 or 8. I guess Dokapon Kingdom but that's more like it's own thing. I'm surprised no indie team has made a spiritual successor to the classic Mario Party games yet; that seems like a massive opening in the market. Anyway good job posting another banger Skooch, you're on a hell of a streak.
100% Orange Juice is a pretty good one, though not sure how close it is to be a "Mario Party clone" given it's more based on the board than the minigames
I’m literally crying. I finally thought I found a RU-vid video where someone would talk about PAC-MAN party for the wii but alas it twas a different pac man party game. Skooch hear my words. Pac-Man Party for the Wii is THE BEST PARTY GAME EVER. Just trust me you should check it out if you ever do another one of these. The way it handles “stars” and mini games is so unique and actually extremely engaging for a shitty Mario party clone.
Just asking, is it basically the same as PAC-MAN Party for the 3DS? Because I own the 3DS one, but I haven't played it, and would like to try it sometime.
@@DELTARUNEISTHEBESTGAMEEVER holy shit I didn’t even know this existed!!! Thanks you so much for informing I’m going to download it completely legally and I’ll let you know! Looks quite the same from screenshots tho which is very surprising!
You forgot one teensy detail about the Sonic Shuffle AI. Not only does it cheat, *it has a vendetta against you*. To recent memory, I recall my matches being SO one-sided, it felt like the CPUs were out to make me finish last, throwing all the negative effects on me despite trailing behind them.
You should check out the Pac Man Mario Party on the Wii. Creative title called Pac-Man Party lol. As a Mario Party Obsessor myself, I think it's one of the better ones! It involves taking castles and has a decent sized cast and minigames. Give it a try!
When my parents bought the Wii we had growing up, Pac-Man Party was one of the few games we got alongside it. We definitely enjoyed it, but we'd also gotten Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii, so Pac-Man Party didn't see too much play compered to those 2.
My family LOVED Shrek Super Party. We also loved Shrek Super Slam, and the Shrek 2 Game... I'm unsure why there were so many Shrek games, to be honest.
"My phone, it doesn’t receive text. What do you mean it doesn’t receive text?" Gives me the same vibe and energy than "What do you mean there’s only soup?"
Fun fact: there's a (Maybe) better Pac Man-Mario Party ripoff that's much better than what Skooch has covered, and it is so different from the other ripoff, that I can guarantee it's made not by You-Know-Who. It has actual bosses, better minigames, and a Playable, Female, *Furry*.
I never thought I'd be reuinited with Shrek Super Party like this. You unlocked some memories long tucked away within the folds of my brain. I don't know whether to thank you or hurt you for this.
9:23 Actually Sonic Shuffle has a bigger roster, but unlike Shrek Super Party, you have to work for half the roster, the unlockable characters are Big, Gamma, Chao, and Super Sonic
It’s so weird that while there are plenty of solid Mario Kart clones, there have barely been any decent Party clones. I feel like this shouldn’t be hard. They either focus on only the mini games or make the board game aspect over complicated
"Can We Talk About This? Mario Party Clones", AKA: Skooch meet his archnemesis...Mass Media Also, Mass Medie didn't create Saints Row 2, Darksiders or Evolve, they just did port of those games to consoles and PC
Shrek Super Party is actually one of the first games I ever played, and is super nostalgic to me. It also still holds up to this day, in my eyes at least.
You know there is ANOTHER Pac-Man Mario Party game you haven't talked about. PAC-MAN PARTY!!! This was made for Pac-Man's 30th Anniversary and is actually good! You should review that some time!
Woah, woah, woah. Hold up. Which version of Shrek party did you play? cause mine had a different cutscene ending for each character. Thelonious got a "vacation", for example. Also, I rather liked the rolling board for movement. It gave you some control, but not too much. And the different paths was usually offset by the fact that 1 path had a much larger bug juice bag at the end, so you could try beating other players there, or play it safe and go down a different path. It certainly was no masterpiece but it had some good ideas, imo.
6:37 Mini games happen most of the time when this happens. There is a rare chance you will end up in a Mini Event, which are comparable to Dokapon Kingdom's NPC encounters.
There's actually another Mario Party knock-off on GBA that has similar "Pass the system" multiplayer with single player mini-games to Cartoon Network Block Party. And it's based on GREEN EGGS AND HAM of all things. It's really bad but my friends and I played it and had a blast laughing at how bad it was.
6:09 You not only need as many Precioustones to get a better chance at winning the entire match, but you also need to win most mini-games and have the most rings collected to ensure a total victory. What a chore, and I think it's well worth it getting it all.
As someone who played PAC-Man Party (not the same PAC-Man thing he played) on the Wii as a child I can confirm that it was a Mario Party clone that may not have sucked ass.
My thoughts: 1. Sonic Shuffle was developed by Hudson Soft, the same company that developed the first eight games in the Mario Party series. Also, Shuffle has four unlockable characters in addition to the main quartet of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy. They are Big the Cat, E-102 Gamma, a Chao, and Super Sonic. Also also, as someone in the minority of people who enjoyed Shuffle, I want to see it re-released for modern consoles and/or have a sequel. In the case of the latter, the things I'd like to see are the same gameplay, but with improved AI, new playable characters, and elements more in line with the Sonic franchise. 2. As much as I enjoyed Garfield Lasagna Party, I do feel that it should have had more playable characters, namely from the U.S. Acres/Orson's Farm segments of Garfield and Friends, like Orson Pig, Roy the Rooster, and Wade Duck. 3. Some other party video games I recommend checking out include Party Time With Winnie the Pooh, Beauty and the Beast: A Board Game Adventure, Tweety and the Magic Gems, and M&M's Blast.
one weird MP clone i remember clearly is the Sonny with a Chance DS game, board was good but the minigames were hit or miss. it felt like a fever dream
I remember playing Crash Bash on my cousin's PS1 and it was solid as far as i can remember, however your vid makes me worried it's the rose colored glasses doing their thing again xD
I grew up with Pac-Man Fever. I actually kind of liked it back then. I didn’t even really know what Mario Party was until I played the Wii one at my cousin’s place
I remember playing another mario party clone for the wii. I don't remember what its called, but it has those tomogachi characters from the little handheld egg game things. I also remember that it was super long. Maybe you could do a review of it sometime if you ever make another video covering more mario party clones. You don't have to, but it would be nice.
I hope you do another video like this about good mario party clones (if there are even enough to make a video about) just so you can see and talk about Fuzion Frenzy. I remember playing that one and having so much fun with it when I was younger.
Surprised the Nickelodeon one wasn’t mentioned, I thought it was incredible when I was younger. I think the site is still up too, I think it was named the equivalent of Block Party or something along the lines of that. Enjoyed the vid, keep it up. Felt nice to reach back into some nostalgia.
Man I'm just three years younger than fire, how about that. Also that jump rope with the snake is actually kind of a cool concept for an actual boss fight. A minigame, no. But a platformer boss fight? Yes sir! Also god I'm so glad you didn't do Crash Boom Bang. It would have been bad like these ones, but for your sanity I wouldn't recommend doing it back to back with other clones.
Funny how the only thing you could use to get your sponsor to dunk on is a landline... And not even one from this century since it doesnt even go cordless from it's base!
sonic shuffle seems like it would have been a good game if the battles were classic sonic gameplay instead of card matching. it would give use to the rings, make it more fun to play and watch, and possibly introduce an element of risk if you needed to battle someone to steal their cards. in fact, it seems like that's what was planned, but the game was rushed before they could complete the classic boss fights so they had to insert a placeholder mechanic that ended up ruining the game shrek super party, on the other hand, is unsalvageable and on the third mutant hand, muppets party cruise seems genuinely fun and creative and deserves a port to the NX
Just so you know, Sonic Shuffle was made (at least in part) by Hudson Soft....AKA, the Mario Party devs.... They tried to help shake up *their own* formula, and in the eyes of most they failed...
“You would rip off so skin from the palm of your hand that it would look like you were auditioning for Passion of the Christ.” One the greatest lines I have ever heard in a RU-vid video
I forgot you existed when you quit league because I did right before that, I'm happy you're talking about Mario party (clones) because I missed your channel, and this brought you to me.
