Manfred Mann didn't STEAL Blinded By The Light, they COVERED Blinded By The Light and changed a few lyrics but Springsteen got all of the writers royalties due to him and he was acknowledged as the writer from day one. They also covered Springsteen's "For You" and "Spirit In The Night" - and again, Springsteen got paid accordingly. What you're suggesting is like saying Joe Cocker STOLE "With A Little Help From My Friends" from Lennon & McCartney!

It's a sneaky one, I like to use it myself. I tell my students I've been teaching for 60 years despite being in my 30s. And I've been using that joke for close to a century.
VultureClone Well, they are performing on "The Footy Show". If it were an Australian comedy crowd it would be far better received...but trust me when I say that fans of that show are usually the type who think getting drunk on cheap beer and making fun of "Abbos" is a good night out. Thankfully they've found a way to quarantine them either in a studio audience, football stadium, or in front of their TV sets.
In France, we do that all the time with songs in english Informer from Snow for example, I also did it when I was young "INFARMA ! djfnlskdjjfouiejqhdfl PLAAAAAN I LUKY BOOMBOOM DOOOOOWN ! Aaaah, good old days !
+Emma Thw Sometimes, songs are a disappointment when you understand the meaning. Especially party songs. Look at the tutorial video of R&B songs from The Axis. It is a moment of truth.
This sounds just like my dad when he tries to sing in English. He sang "Come on Eileen" yesterday, and it sounded just like the version here! Maybe that's where he gets his lyrics from?
@@michigan2974 but the words are english, you still need to pronounce them kinda right, ie with consonants! Plus it's not like her earlier songs were hard to understand, because most people mute their accent when singing
Norrel Reyes Yes, I can do that. And many other things. You may want to ask Jack about it. Several interviews of Jack have him explaining how he rode Kyle's coattails.
@xXMaDEllXx You may have responded to the wrong comment...Or misunderstood me. What I meant was, the transcribe audio feature of RU-vid tries to take what they say and put subtitiles. And when Lee says "Smells like *gibberish*" the subtitles say "Smells like Teen Spirit"
Adrien Scrève the first one was "subterranean homesick blues" and the second one wasn't a real bob dylan song. They made a reference to "hurricane", but that's not how it really goes.
Well... Yes and no... The version of 'Blinded by the Light' that actually hit the charts (Feb 1977) and is widely known is by Mannfred Mann's Earth Band from their album 'Roaring Silence'. Bruce Springsteen was just the original performer, off his 1973 album 'Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ', and that version never saw mainstream radio play.
Too-rah-loo-rah Too-rah-loo-rah-ay And we'll sing this song forever! Come on Eileen, well I swear (what he means) at this moment, you mean everything. You in that dress... i love that song for no apparent reason other than the too-rah part.
