THE BACKBONE OF GERMANY - Panzer 4 H in War Thunder - OddBawZ 

Good vehicle attracts inexperienced players and inexperienced players make good vehicles. With war docos showing these as impenetrable monsters many people are surprised when they die, the German tech tree is good but players thinking a good tank is all they need, they form incorrect assumptions and while not necessarily moronic a Unknowledgeable person sees themselves as ‘smart’ so they don’t see themselves as wrong. On top of this the party dragging tanks to cheap and undertiered heaven are vocal due to them feeling right. Known as Wehraboos Many players will feel frustrated and turn to GE to advance hence the braindead top tier players known as Wallet warriors that are present in every nation, however wehraboos are special to Germany as WWII documents always show Germany as a ironclad nation while all its opponents are under its feet giving Germany a natural magnetism to new players.

This is a fact, it’s mainly newer players that have been playing for a couple of months that expect German tanks armor to be broken , but really you need to have some cover or you will die, it’s not like a m1a2 Abrams vs a Stuart. number 1 tip in war thunder is don’t stand out in a field where everyone can see you.

Well let me tell you this, every time I play, no matter how smart of a move I make, the enemy team still manages to destroy my panzer IV H without any issues as if they have aimbot. Shit tank

@@chas7665 problem with panzer IV is the giant hull that sticks out. If it was lighter it could've been great at flanking (like the panzer III which I like more), but it just isn't fast enough. Not to mention the lack of any sloped armor

The G-J Models are like my Warmup Tanks or how to put it...I just feel Comfortable & know what they can/can't do

I got my highest killstreak with it. The armor, paired with additional track armor will force shermans and t34s to aim for your turret whilst the gun just overperforms.

The panzer 4 and tiger were pretty good all things considered. The panther on the other hand. Ssss not so much

@@casematecardinal Tiger IRL was a horrible vehicle, it was unreliable, when it got stuck only other Tiger could tow him, its cannon loose performance over distance and it was extremely expensive in terms of fuel. If any of iconic german tanks was pretty good, it was Panther or Panzer IV.

But the panzer iv h looks so much like a tiger too. Especially with its “ostketten” wide tracks

Every tank has it's weaknesses and the Panzer IV H definitely has a weak turret. However, it's a bit trolly as the over lapping gun mantlet will cause non penetrations some times. The other thing for the J is obviously the terrible turret traverse. Why they didn't lower that and only that to 3.7 I don't understand. Instead, Gaijin in their infinite wisdom, decided the Panzer IV H needed to be dropped from 4.0 to 3.7. As if it wasn't already fully capable and a fantastic all round tank at 4.0. Now the G is at 3.3 too. I think it's so stupid how they balance the game. The were both fine at their BR's at 3.7 and 4.0. They did not suffer, they just are commonly used by people who failed to learn what strengths and weaknesses a tank has and/or how to kill difficult targets reliably. Odd shows exactly how to make short work of the KV-1 tanks, even the 100mm armored variants. And while those are tougher shots to make at distance, they can be made and the KV-1 will struggle to go through the Panzer IV H at distance except if it hits the turret. And if the KV-1 failed to angle, the Panzer IV can fairly easily punch through it's upper and lower front plate and usually 1 shot them. I still remember someone arguing with me as to why the T-34 and Sherman tanks were better because you can't brawl with a Panzer IV, entirely missing the point that Panzer IVs are not brawling tanks at all except the H in some cases and it was his fault for trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. You don't really have out right brawlers until you get to the Tiger tank but that doesn't make the Panzer IV series any less effective in the game. You just have to use them differently than a Sherman or T-34 and you'll do fine if not fantastic in them. They cut through T-34 armor reliably, even the 60 degree angled 45mm plate and the same can be said of the Sherman's front plate with the exception of maybe the M4A4 variants with the steeper sloping front. Of course, those also have 2 massive weak points you can aim for if you learn how to identify targets instead of complaining that your tank is bad. I still cannot believe some of the recent BR drops Germany has gotten, they've been so babied since I started playing the game again and it just makes me cringe every time I see the upcoming BR changes. Because I just know some German tank that doesn't need a BR reduction is going to have one, almost every time. At least they finally, finally made the Panzer II far less ridiculous in it's domination of the reserve and 1.3 BR as they dropped the 63mm penetrating HVAP 20mm round down to 48mm or something like that. Still very good for the BR but not egregious like it was and still a potent flanking vehicle that only has a handful of tanks it struggles to hurt. It's a lot more balanced. And this was after they debuffed 20mm spall too not long ago so finally I guess Gaijin realized how absurd the HVAP 20mm round was before now.

A big problem of the panzer 4h is the balistic analysis of the game. On the paper you can pen your enemies but in reality there are way too many bounces on kv1, kv2 and t34 ! While they have JUST enough pen to kill your panzer 4h. It is sometimes ridiculous. Other problem for the panzer 4h is that it isn't a brawler but 70% of the maps are made for cqc and brawling, making way better tje soviets (while the entire 3.7 - 4.3 4.7 germany lineup is made of snipers ! Besides churchill, t34 and kv1 b premiums)

A Boomer for a Boomer ! Shame they have been left on the self by WT, everything else around it faces seems to have been nerfed up. Used to be a great brawler but now suffers on load out, and is probably nearer to IRL stats unlike the German and particularly Italian tech trees.

I main Germany at 5.7 because of how good the tiger e and panter a are. My panther a bounced 10 shots from 3 tanks shooting me head on. The down side to Germany is how people play, sitting back at spawn or pushing into enemy spawn when they have 2 out of 3 caps. My best games are on urban maps were i can flank like mad and get 10 kills. I do got to say though, the ebr is getting old real fucking fast. Always 10 of those things on the other team. Germany suffers because of how bad the teams are.

When the best player have like 7 kills and the second one have like 3 kills this makes me so much mad because i feel like if i was the only usefull guys in the team

@@Spougggaato138 bro that happens to be once and a while, ill be doing my own thing on a major flank around enemy camping spots and have 10 kills. Second guy will have 3 and everyone on my team is dead or sitting in spawn

When people like me exist that just can’t contain the frustration of driving for 7 minutes and dying to someone literally halfway across the map for 10 games in a row, I don’t blame him for having game chat disabled.

I have noticed it aswell I dont think the german player are necessarily playing bad, but just like you saod, the russians and americans keep throwing tanks at you and you have no backup

@@Juan-gt9hn yeah pretty much. The good and bad thing about the german tech tree. Especially in top teir is the diversity of it. Where the Russians have like 20 of the same tank that they can just keep forcing down your throat

Exactly, the german guns and optics are excellent for long range engagements. Theres no reason to brawl when you dont have too risk the damage
