The other night I saw a repeat on Antenna TV where everybody gets a paycheck but Fish. So he calls personnel and tells Barney "You're not gonna believe this, but according to their records I'm dead. Now I have to go down there an prove to them that I'm alive...and that's not gonna be easy!"
The sitcoms of the 1970's & early 80's were my favorites, excellence in both writing & acting. I was a huge fan of Barney Miller, from the pilot right up to watching Hal Linden turning out the lights & closing the door on the "Old 1-2". My mom actually cried during most of the series finale, I know that I sure as hell felt like it myself. You just don't get excellent shows like that anymore..........
The good ol days of solid jolly humorous TV series... All in the family, Barney Miller, Cincinnati's Radio WQRP...Great stuff ....Here I am back again someone tagged me so I must offer three wishes...#1 I want Barney and the gang back #2 I want Loni Anderson #3 I still want Loni Anderson...Those were some fine Times in television... But you know of course it was the actors that made these shows what they were, and to all of them our prayers and thanks...
You see many of the extras playing different roles in Barney Miller and over the years always at your very best. Every one involved at making or performing Barney Miller you are at the top of your craft.
I'm 72, in my twenties when Barney Miller was in first run. Still watch reruns now. It's still on my top10 favorites list. This hookers compilation is classic!
This was one of my Dad's all-time favorite TV shows. He NEVER missed Barney Miller.------------I loved the show, too.-------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
I have been thoroughly enjoying this. One of the view videos I don't feel a need to fast forward or skip. Just happy to watch it all through. Laughed just like then (even though I understand some of the bawdier content now - back then I was a kid in the 70s!). Loved all the guest stars from some of my fave shows like Soap and Its a Living and so many character actors. I had to mention Sarina Grant (I remember her most from Good Times, but she was in a lot of shows!). She was sort of not too featured in The Call Girl episode, but she did everything with the part she had (Dubois). Her facial expressions and gesticulations were terrific! They didn't pay much attention to her and they were not very respectful, whereas the other call girl was treated like royalty. Hmmm.
I was a teen when this aired, I'd watch many cop shows, this show was the first to show law enforcement as people with emotions and feelings, it put cops on a good light as good people, which most are, it's the bullies and ones that abuse power that gives them a bad rep, it was good for cops to show reality and humor. Everyone hates cops until they need one, toughest job.
My brother got to be an extra on one of the Barney Miller episodes. He got into the union by winning on the Gong Show.... the precursor to today's idol worshipping talent shows.
@@LordZontar …..oh my yes, “ Harris” had Style, he was savvy, and even complimentary to the “ Ladies of the Evening - that scene is still my most favourite part of that Episode. He can find humour anywhere within the 12th 🌟🧡🌟. Thanks for sharing your comment. It brought back great memories 💔
Like my dad whom I loved sharing in watching this show with. Compassionate. A compassionate human being and teacher and not much credit in life for it, even though his students loved and appreciated him.
The red head in the second scene (the "hoofer") later landed on a hit sitcom with Ted Knight - "Too Close for Comfort" IIRC. Always cool to see those early roles.
I am dying to see the episode where Dietrich dresses like a woman for Purse Snatcher decoy detail but the crew at the precinct can't let him leave because he "looks ridiculous".
Reminds me of what a little old Jewish man told me 50+ years ago. "Ladies of the Night" have the ideal business, they got it... they sell it... they still got it!
The thing is, she's literally selling her body for money and gets offended when called a hooker or tramp? Not saying we should be disrespectful but technically, those nouns are correct to describe her behavior.
AH, HOW I MISS CHANO, ESPECIALLY WHEN HES EXCITED, HAPPY OR IN QUITE A FOUL MOOD . THE SPANISH AND ENGLISH ARE COMBINED ... ITS SO MUCH FUN TO WARCH HIM, ESPECIALLY DURING THE " RAT SCENE " WHEN HE GRABS A BAT, AND REALISES WOJO WAS BITTEN, STANDING, UP; SO HE TAKES OUT HIS GUN. TO SHOOT THE RAT! ..... OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE!!☆ LOVE CHANO ♥️☄🕯🎇⛾🔱🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Loved how they used Jack Dodson and played him against type. After a career of playing the nebbish they had him as a psycho who killed barbers who gave him a bad haircut. Brilliant.
Brilliant writing, inspired delivery. And here we are fifty years later staring at a million channel wasteland of cliché and bad hyperbole. “Mime her her rights.” A comedy that imagined its audience having actual brains.
Wojo's such a meathead. Everything he says is a snarl, a contradiction and a low minded jab at others. He's the perfect characterization of an institutional drone. Complaining, bullying, quick to judge and quick to snap, a real grind on the system. Thankfully they made him funny and with some compassion at times. He has more facets than first glances may reveal.
@Baba Ganush preach brutha! Too many of my old friends can't find their sense of humor anymore, can't do anything but complain. The show's writers made a great job of creating a character that's already limited his outlook and his dialogue is perfect for it.
Wojo had a bit of a moral streak in him. But what he failed to understand was that some had different beliefs or others fell on hard times and had to do not so nice stuff to get by. But deep down he was a decent man.
15:50 The attractive red head is much like my red head organ teacher! When playing Bach I loved watching her shapely legs ashe played the organ pedal notes.
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
@@CriswellKOL Rosanna DeSoto. One of her more well known roles was in La Bamba . She played the mother of Ritchie Valens ( Lou Diamond Phillips ) in 1987.
The woman who played the rookie was also in the series as a detective (see before and after they were cops Barney Miller Before and After they were Cops) AND she later played the wife of Bruno Bender.
The thanks for chopping up these episodes where you can't even watch one full one so why doesn't it say a quarter episode quarter episode quarter episode
OH MY FAVOURITE SHOPLIFTER , " MARTY" WITH HIS FRIEND, " DARRYL DRISCOLL " MARTY NEEDED BARNEY TO HELP MARTY MOVE TO SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.." .NEEDS A " CHARACTER REFERENCE " OF A" PERSON WHOM HAS KNOWN MARTY FOR 2 YEARS," . @@kenworthh9776 yes!! She was in that show right? And the other one up at the beginning of the video the lady with the red hair, you said it was Nancy Dussault. I recognized her but I couldn't think of her name
I never liked Wojohowitz or Levitz (the short one). Wojo's arrogance definitely not justified, and Levitz was a Chihuahua. Levitz was a mall cop who got the PD job because he's good at bootlicking. I LOVED Fish's and Soo's dry sense of humor, lol...
Wojo is a Viet Nam Vet and does not pick up on all the civilian people right away. It takes him time but Wojo gets there. That in some ways would make him a child.
