Terry McGinnis deserves a spot in the family for a variety of reasons: 1. He is one of the few bat children that is more than willing to fill in the role of Batman 2. He roasted the Joker so damn badly he almost broke him 3. He successfully stole the Bat suit to avenge his dead daddy 4. He gave old man Bruce a reason to live again 5. And he clapped the Joker once and for all Terry is HIM and I'm not gonna accept anything else.😤😤😤

My biggest problem is that Batman never seems to have a stable relationship with his children. Batman Wayne Family Adventures is my favorite piece of Batman media so far, because Batman clearly tries his best to be a good dad. Also, we need an animated show of this family.

It’s annoying, yeah. I miss media like Batman the Animated Series where Batman while not perfect was actually a GOOD surrogate parent. Heck, Gotham Knights gets prop from me for doing this. He even helped rehab Jason for his PTSD.

Right now Dick is taking over DC. He has one of the highest selling books, leader of the Titans while the JL is disbanded and from what I hear is in talks about getting a movie of some sort though apparently they can't seem to get it off the ground.

I like Batwing and Azrael though, Beyond is more of a future batman. Take that power rangers cosplay off The Signal and maybe I'll take him a little seriously. They are too much in one city and one team though, they should be redrafted.

We already have batman, nightwing, red hood, tim, damian, batgirl, catwoman that's already enough to tell many stories. We don't need to introduce new characters that no one cares about. Azreal's pretty cool too he can make some appearances. But that's already kinda pushing it.
Honestly orphan (Cassandra Cain) is a really cool character. Both her parents are top assassins and she's one of if not the best hand to hand fighters in the bat family. Born into a family of assassins and raised to be one, only to go against her parents wishes and join the bat family.
Besides the Bat himself, The Bat Family should consist of Nightwing, Red Hood, Tim Drake, Oracle, Damian, Alferd, Cassandra Cain, and occasionally Catwoman. I’d say that’s more reasonable than what we got at the moment.
Kate too. After reading Wayne Family Adventures, I can totally see her being a mentor to the kids and the cool aunt they hang out with when Bruce won't let them do something 😂.

I feel like a lot of what it boils down to is creative bankruptcy. They have no idea how to end anything. They can't fathom the idea of just finally closing the book on any of them cause they think they'd lose money, even tho they are actually losing money. There's no appeal anymore, and the only one who cares about any of them are the die-hard fans who can't imagine reading anything else
I agree. Bruce should be old and near retiring at this point. We have Tim, Jason, Cassandra, and Dick who all could take up the mantle. I'm a firm believer that each generation should have their own "hero" so to speak and let mantles be passed. After all, what's the point of having all the kid sidekicks that are supposed to grow and take up the mantle if it is never passed on? Let Bruce retire and have a happy life with the family he's created. It ain't gotta be perfect, but let the man be a decent dad and happy for once!
Barbara Gordon has slept with or dated every member of the main Bat family (Dick, Jason, Bruce and Tim) in some continuity except Damien (thank God) making most of the Robins not just brothers but Eskimo brothers. So yeah, she was passed around more than basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters.
I'm all for that for except Cassandra Cain's case. She was written way before Damian was introduced (not counting that unnamed 80s version of him that got retconned out of existence) and is a great protégé for Barbara while she was stuck as Oracle. Character-wise she's even has a better version of Damian's arc too; someone who grew up to be the best living weapon (so much she never learned to talk, just analyze people via body movements) and who the Bat Family needed to teach restraint more than anything. She's not some self insert-ish Agent 47/Master Chief hybrid.
I mean I recommend checking out Batman Beyond, Terry McGinnis was Miles Morales, before Miles Morales. He was a juvenile whos been to juvi a couple of times dealing with his parents being separated until his dad died, becoming Batman to put his fathers murderers to justice and ultimately became the Batman of Tomorrow. Guys literally also DCs Miguel O'Hara. And Terry operates VERY different from Bruce despite Bruce being a mentor Terrys basically what Bruce wanted Batman to be, yeah we have Dick as Batman before, but I recall Terrys the first time we saw someone else take the cowl in mainstream, plus guy could kick ass before and without the suit. Like Terry has his own TV Show and animated movie to check out.
I do fw Cassandra tho she has a good backstory and her chemistry with Bruce is really good. And her character arc is well written. But Jason the goat and that’s on god
I dont think the problem is the size of the bat-family. The problem is that they are not utelized as a team but instead most of them are just suporting batman characters.
Cassandra Cane she’s lady Shiva’s daughter, and was trained to be the perfect assassin. I believe she can see peoples weak points in a fight. And Duke is actually cool, but they just don’t do much with him, He’s kinda just be there sometimes, and I agreed name is not that creative but it’s cool that he protects Gotham during the daytime.

The worst are the ones with powers (Gotham, Gotham Girl, Signal, and there may be more. I would remember them if a new hero/vigilante for Gotham weren't being made every week). Because most of Gotham's villains are just guys with gadgets, gangs, money, and knowledge. There are more villains who are just insane people than there are villains who have powers that only Superman, Wonder Woman, and any other member of the Justice League can defeat.
Stephanie brown has been around for 32 years and she appears in detective comics 647 in case if anyone was asking she was around since August 1992 and you’re welcome to anyone who wanted to know about her
I gotta agree on this, now for Stephanie i don't mind her much because i lowkey kinda like her dynamics with the other members. But outside of her i don't care much for the others besides the main 7 (Bruce, Dick, Jason, Tim, Damian, Barbara and Batwoman). If we count else worlds though i *heavily* mess with Terry Mcginnis due to his arc and story with how he navigates being Batman in futuristic Gotham

For me stephanie brown never gets respected even though she was robin. From what i've heard, a common complaint (from fans and other characters) about Stephanie Brown is that she isn't as capable as others in the Bat-Family. I believe this is actually the character's greatest strength, as her entire history (from 1992-2011) is about overcoming hurdles that other people (often her friends) place in her way. Nothing in her life is “easy”, and that's refreshing in a city of master acrobats, ninjas, and superpowers. She's got a villain for a dad (the opposite of Barbara), doesn't benefit from money (like Bruce, and all the Robins), and has no extreme training (Dick, Damian, Cassandra). Everyone she's met has told her at one time or another to quit. Bruce (her best father figure) takes years to even give her the time of day. When he does bring her on as Robin, she only lasts 71 days in the green boots. No natural gifts, no faith from her role models, and things very rarely go her way. Despite all of that, she keeps plugging away. It's been said that her superpower is "trying really hard." Not too inaccurate. She's got a wide blend of motivations for being a hero, but the most constant is the drive to do good and help people. It's those traits that I like, determination through adversity, and an unerring need to do right in the world. Plus she isn't one of bruces kids, has alive parents and comes from crime alley like Jason(which makes her dynamic with bruce interesting and good to explore which the comics sadly never did cause the same writes who wanted jason dead because of stupid reasons wanted to kill off steph. That's why they had a good relationship in the comics in task force z out of everyone she gets him the most and they both got tortured by a batman villain (black mask and joker).

Stephanie Brown is one of my favorite characters and she's been around for a while since the 90s. She was a very integral part of Tim Drake's solo Robin which he had for over ten years. During the run she had some really strong character moments, got a lot of development and afterwards she even became Batgirl and her run as Batgirl is great, I highly recommend it. So no she's not just a person who snitches. Her and Cassandra should be part of it everyone else however I don't care for
I like the idea of Signal. He's Gotham's day time hero. Sure Batty can still show up during the day but he's not patrolling like he is at night, or at least not as well. Just change his name man

They're from the Rebirth comics except the biological daughter of Catwoman and Batman called Helena Wayne, (Huntress), so if you're looking into Batfamily comics I suggest buying Earth 2 comics, Batman Beyond comics, Nightwing comics, Red Robin comics, and Red Hood comics.
Bruce as Batman. Dick as Nightwing. Jason as Red Hood. Tim as Red Robin. Damian as Robin. Barbara as Oracle. Cassandra as Batgirl. Stephanie as Spoiler. And Alfred holding them all together. That's it! That's the perfect Bat-Family.

As someone who knows most of the lore of the Bat family members, I'm tired of the writers bringing in new members that I actually like and proceed to not use their characters for the next decade!
It's straight up a crime that we don't get a Red Hood game until this day, the only thing we have of decent to our boy is his gameplay in the Arkham Night DLC
And its such a mid dlc, ik because damn near at least twice every month i replay the whole thing It's such a disappointment. They made a matter of family with an entirely new map, a bunch of objectives as well as an awesome boss fight, but then gave Jason three levels and a mediocre boss fight where the only challenge is not being able to combo takedown black mask. If they made a new game where he hunts the ss and Deathstroke helps him, then thatd be fire, but considering how rocksteady are basically ran by sbi, we might just get a harley quinn game where she rizzes child poison ivy LMAO
Stephanie Brown is my personal favorite. Been around since 1992! I think the problem isn't that there's too many, it's that they don't have well written stories using them well. If they had strong stories, you'd be engaged with all of them. Also, you don't have to use all of them at the same time. Some can come in and out, like Azrael does.
Kassandra Cane is pretty cool. She's the second Batgirl, she's also an orphan, and she was trained to be a killer since she was a little girl. She's like Damien only more tolerable and quiet, and her suit is actually scary (well as scary as a drawing can be) In my ideal world she'd come around after Batgirl becomes Oracle

2:07 Alright i'll try to explain her backstory if i must : She's the daughter of Arthur Brown, aka The Cluemaster, who is clearly not the world's best father. Her mom spends most of Stephanie's childhood hooked on pills. (Though she does eventually gets her act together) When her Dad gets out of prison and back to planning robberies, Stephanie decides to Spoil his schemes by sending clues to the Batman. They take him down together, day saved. Her caped career might have ended there, but for the fact she met Tim Drake. She can't go back to a mundane life now. She's caught a glimpse of this exciting world of crime fighting, with a "cute boy" by her side! They're the same age, they both run around in spandex, they both share this secretive hobby. It's fucking magical! Well, that idea lasts for a little while at least. Bit by bit, reality creeps in. He's been trained by a legendary mentor, has tons of gadgets, and a transforming car. She's got a rope. All the other heroes running around the city? They don't even know she exists. The only one who talks to her is Robin. He knows her name and history, but she's never seen under his mask. He can clear a room of bad guys, and she's getting kidnapped. Then out of nowhere he drops that he's got a girlfriend. "Well what the hell were we just doing running around rooftops together and making out?" She got a taste of something exciting (the crimefighting life & Robin), then as soon as she expresses interest, she gets shut down. "You can't be in our cool club, and by the way, I've got a girlfriend who's not you. So sorry." That might have been the end of it, except that Tim Drake keeps stringing her along! He visits her window occasionally and lets her into an adventure here or there. He gives up a kiss or two until it's finally convenient for him to be with her. By the time she's established herself as Spoiler: Part-time Crimefighter, it's under this umbrella of never being good enough for Robin, Batman, or anyone else. They've handed her a huuuge inferiority complex. It's actually rather “Marvel” of DC to build a character like this. Whereas every other hero in the DC universe is getting challenges from the bad guys (Luthor: "Take that superman, you're not strong enough to beat my robot!" Superman:"Yes I am, look at me punch your robot!") Stephanie Brown has to deal with challenges from her friends and allies on top of it all. Bruce: You're not good enough to be out here, go home. Tim: You're not good enough to be with me, I'm more interested in this other girl (this happens over and over). Also, you're clearly the junior partner in our relationship. Oh, you're Robin now because I quit? Don't worry, Batman will fire you in two months and bring me back. Cassandra: Hey, you're nice and all, but I'm about 100x more capable than you'll ever be. Every time we fight someone tough, I knock you out beforehand so you don't get hurt. Barbara: Hey, I'm the iconic Batgirl who everyone likes more than you. I'm also super bitter that you're Batgirl now. Damain: Hey, you suck at your job, and you're poor too. Stephanie being Stephanie though, she only toughens under the pressure. I'm not entirely sure Chuck Dixon (original creator) actually intended for the character to take on these traits. But it works beautifully. She grows into a determined, experienced, and hardened crime fighter. Eventually, Batman has Cassandra Cain give Stephanie the Batgirl title, and DC has Bryan Q. Miller write it. The Batgirl run is a masterpiece because it recognizes exactly what the character wants and needs. The entire run was about her accepting her limitations, growing her abilities, earning the respect of others, and self actualizing. It ends with her exorcising her demons, finally finding her self worth, and choosing to build a life in a world of ninjas, death cults, and super powers. She sees her possible futures in the last issue, and gladly leaps towards them on the last page. It's goddamn beautiful! The 24 issues are a well directed story about entering adulthood. All through the lens of the Batfamily and crime fighting. It's the resolution of a 19 year story arc. One that highlights her need to help others, and refusal to let anyone stop her. So Stephanie Brown is a great character to read because she's fun and lighthearted, but there's also a great deal of poignancy just under the surface. I encourage others to read her stories with that in mind.
Every time I see Damian Wayne in the dcamu I get proud because that’s how u develop someone like him, but I also get upset at the fact that he gets 90% of character development through the whole dcamu saga while everyone else on the titans got hoed, forgotten or killed off in their first/ second appearances
