I made a brief visit to The Battlefield Line's 50th Anniversary Gala on the 18th October 2019. Three locomotives were running on the first day when I attended: 6989 Wightwick Hall, 7820 Dinmore Manor and Small Prairie 5542. The Hall had only been in service for less than a year and was absolutely immaculate following a lengthy restoration at Quainton Road. Dinmore Manor normally resides at the Glos-Warks and 5542 was from The South Devon Railway. An added attraction was a Gauge 1 railway in the goods shed at Market Bosworth. This line is one of the most difficult to film as the lineside trees are thick and almost continuous. One does one's best!

6989 does look superb. Lovely autumnal lighting in that opening shot. And what a brilliant sound it makes!

That was one of the short bursts of sunlight. Yes, Halls can certainly bark.

We have enjoyed some lovely visits to this line Alan but from a videoing aspect I agree with you, it's difficult beyond 'station limits'. My very first two YT uploads were from Hi8 tapes (shot in 98) and show just how our tech has advanced. I considered going tomorrow (Sunday) but had second thoughts so was nice to see your coverage including the Guage 1. Regards, Brian.

@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 Well that’s good to hear Scott, it’s nice to have some hired engines in the Railway.

Greatly enjoyed, thanks Alan, and it's easy to understnd why you wanted to see Wightwick Hall, definitely immaculate! Good to see Dinmore Manor as well. Without your mentioning the Battlefield limitations, your excellent captures give no suggestion of difficulties; I particularly liked the bridge shots at 04:30 and 07:10 with brilliant approaching sound as a bonus. The indoor layout was impressive too, with a very realistic level of rail clatter. I'm wondering if the leaning character by the poster at 03:20 is an example of body language... Kind regards, Bob.

Pleased to hear that Bob. Between you and me, the bridge shot, or shots, at 7-10 were two consecutive trains as I only had one camera with me that day. I see what you mean about the couple 'drawing apart'! Kind regards Alan.

It had not occurred to me that it was anything other than a single train, so very clever planning, filming and editing!

Thanks for putting this online. The battlefield has always been my local railway and I’ve always loved it but recently some aspects of the behind the scenes have really turned me away from going. I wasn’t a volunteer but was a regular enough costumer to know members of staff personally. When I realised something as once in a life time as the anniversary gala was happening I struggled find the motivation to go and to be honest I do regret it. this vid did a really good job in showing what was on so I have to thank you for that.
