God, this takes me back. I used to love this song and video. I was unemployed for most of 1983 and I used to spend a lot of time watching music videos. I love the parts when they stick their fingers through the laser light! Thanks for posting this.
Yikes, I must have been about 12 or so at the time, was just developing a passion for that 80's music (still intact today :-), so long since I heard this song but hearing it brings back a LOT of memories, thx for posting.
All time favourite! No matter how many times I play this tune I never tire of it at all. I remember this tune from being three years old, loved it then and still do.
Intriguing introduction, powerful verses, melancholically catchy-as-bird-flu chorus, strong brass interjections and a bridge to die for. What more could one ask for? It's the absolute perfect pop song. A work of genius and a deserved massive hit. Shame people associate the far inferior - and much lower-selling - Prince song with the title and this classic gets ignored.
I absolutely love this Song and The Band. The Best Girl Group ever together with Bananarama! Thanks a million times for posting it. I wish i had it on my computer!
hey now the 90s werent all that bad (im a 90s kid), the world I knew died on december 31st 1999. Funny I catch myself all the time looking up stuff on line from the 90s/80s cause it makes me much happier living in the past then living in the present. The world was just different back then, different goals, different attitudes. We werent all wrapped in status updates, tweets and txts.
Thanx ever so much for posting this one...I was freaking out on this one way back then......I still got the single lying around somwhere...(if only I could find it somewhere.....LOL)
I remember i wanted to be with every girl in this video when i first saw it ! You see!, from the the Belle Stars on up to the Spice Girls and others , all girl bands can make great music ! Thanks for posting the video !
oh great to this and hear this again , the Belle Stars were my favourite group in the 80's went to see them at Hammersmith Palais. Wonder what they are all up to now? I think Stella was my fave but they were all good Miranda on Sax, Sarah Jane on Guitar, Judy on drums Clare,Lesley Jennie ? another Judy oh i cant rmemeber im getting old
I loved all the tunes of the 80's, and now my girls love them too! We can often be seen n heard driving around our tiny little town, windows down, with our 80's tunes playing just a little too loud lol
I remember seeing this video on MTV back in the early 80's. This was when they actually played music videos. God, how I miss MTV the way it was for the first few years!
Wow - I thought that I was one of the only ones who totally fancied Miranda... She still epitomises my type of girl. From the comments here, it seems that I was categorically not alone! She is a very successful make-up artist now, I think. She looked fabulous back then, and still does now.
I start every day with a queue of ten songs this one being first and I have it on E.P. I am retired on disability and this gets me going. P.S. , I LOVE THE BASS PLAYER.
Once had a crush on Miranda Joyce! Used to know the band & go to most of their gigs. Very underated band (probably because of thier poppy sound), but great Live! Miss them, The Go Go's, & Amazulu... all great 80's girl bands, but miss The Bodysnatchers most of all!
Holy shit... I have NOT SEEN THIS SINCE the 80's. I used to thik ( as a young teen boy) these girsl were hot as hell. I always remeber the chord progression after the main break , I also remember the laser...which back then was like...holy smokes!!!
Great song - my deck is bust too so can't play the vinyl: good to find it here. I was an old hippie but for rhythm you can't beat ska thru reggae & two-tone and this music.
The band members names were - Jennie Matthias, Sarah-Jane Owen, Lesley Shone, Miranda Joyce, Stella Barker, Clare Hirst, Judy Parsons. And a former member of the band was - Penny Leyton. Stella Barker & Sarah-Jane Owen used to be in the ska band - THE BODYSNATCHERS.
It wasn't all sunshine & roses for all though Jo. I didn't turn 12 until the autumn of '83, but I certainly wasn't oblivious to the political climate, or the state of the country during that, or any part of the decade. I can remember some good times, but not many. Personally speaking, I had a better time in the 70's and the 90's. As far as school milk was concerned, the only people to suffer, were primary school children of less well off parents, so it was and is, a valid point, sadly.
