Five years ago, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD after a work place shooting. PTSD presents its elf as an emotional disorder but is actually a result of damage to the sympathetic nervous system and the left and right frontal cortex of the brain which regulates mood. I’ve since been diagnosed with Sarcoidosis which is an autoimmune disease that can affect vital organs and the skin, in particular. The primary marker is high C-reactive protein produced by the liver. I recently discovered there is a high correlation between autoimmune immune disease and trauma. In essence, my central nervous system has been damaged by high stress hormones and related inflammation. People who suffer from childhood trauma are particularly susceptible. I believe there are a large number of people who have inflammation related to stress who are unaware that they have chronic inflammation as well. The good news is that many of my symptoms have improved after starting an anti-inflammatory diet. My PTSD is still considered severe but the secondary symptoms of autoimmune disease have improved considerably. We take victories where we can find them! The body has an amazing ability to heal itself. Food is truly medicine!
You are so right and the #1 source of inflammation in our bodies is actually stress. People like to go the diet route but not necessarily talk to a mental health provider or meditate. It's a big area that gets skipped and why a lot of healthy eaters still end up with disease.
Thank you so very much I’ve learnt so much. I have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis for the past 21 yrs and I now only understand about inflammation of my brain ! I will definitely be doing this and journaling as i go along to possibly assist anyone out there. I am 66yrs young. Thank you so much again . Many blessings 👏👏👏👏🤗💖🤗 I am excited 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Weeks after recovering from COVID I started to get internal organs inflammation. It’s been over 2 months and there has been days I felt I wouldn’t survive another day. I’ve done every test possible, CT scans, MRI’s, Ultrasound, X-rays and the result is always inflammation. The problem is my blood pressure skyrockets when the inflammation is at its peak. While taking steroids my life is back to normal and there is no blood pressure, however, I cannot live on steroids, so following an anti-inflammatory diet is a must for me. Like the dietitian said, it might take 6 months to a year to fully change the diet. Im 2 months in and still learning which foods triggers inflammation. Im very grateful for this video and I wish anyone who is having inflammation issues is able to make diet changes and live a better life. 🙏🏻🤗
Thank you for this informative video . I am a 61 yr old female with diabetes , elevated BP ,but not on medication for BP. I have changed my eating habits 80% I still at times eat potato chips , or chocolate bar but not often .I am definitely trying to change . I am currently experiencing knee pains daily. This never happened before . Thank you !
I am giving a small talk on anti-inflammatory foods tomorrow and found this super helpful-thank you! Good information presented in a clear and concise manner.
This was extraordinarily helpful in getting directly to the basics of an anti-inflamatory diet. No hype just facts and sound advice. I've been searching for just this information. Many thanks and well done.
Processed inflammatory foods that she named have one thing in common...vegetable seed oil. Check the labels. They're in 80% of the foods in the grocery store. PUFA, polyunsaturated fatty acids including canola, soybean, corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, and hydrogenated oils are prone to oxidizing and causing inflammation.
High sugar content is another thing they have in common. Doesn’t the excess sugar in the average diet cause inflammation? Also the artificial colors (industrial dyes) preservatives, flavor enhancers, emulsifiers (detergents) present in processed foods are not likely to be anti inflammatory. Perhaps processed foods are a perfect storm of inflammation causing agents…
She said foods that have ingredients we don't recognise. Most people would recognise seed oils. The most ubiquitously used oil is palm oil. I wouldn't drink the stuff myself, but I can't find any evidence that seed oils cause inflammation. Do you have any references that I could investigate please?
I have just started reading about this topic. This video provides good insights about internal inflammation when it comes to nutrition. I recommend to play at 1.25
I know I have an inflammatory response after consuming dairy. But I like dairy. How do I keep drinking dairy but minimize the inflammatory response? I did not have a problem with dairy before 2 years but now I have this.
What about natural sugars from fruits can those cause inflammation? I went on a terrain diet which is mostly fruits and uncooked vegetables but I was cooking my vegetables and I don’t know if I was just detoxing or was it the sugars but they’re all natural sugars.
Absolutely great questions and answers. I have just been diagnosed with Osteoporosis at the age of 56, and I am looking into changing my diet again, so after I visit my Rheumatologist, I will ask for a Registered Dietitian referral .
This is very useful if you have health problems give this a try. You only lose some months and money if it doesn't work but have a lot to gain specially since we all have to eat every day of our lives.
@@gilessteveI can vouch for this,… I’ve been gluten-free, as well as low carbs for at least ten years now, and only recently started snacking on non-gluten pizza & bread products,… Let’s just say, I allowed myself some guilty pleasures in exchange for putting uP with the nasty abdominal discomforts😬 …After a few months, I feel like total crap, not only physically, but mentally,… hence why I’m here !!
You can also improve the effectiveness of Turmeric by adding pepper and a small amount of fat like avocado oil. Turmeric is fat soluble and pepperine improves its absorption.
I've tried to see a dietician but, they will not see me due to the fact I'm not a diabetic. I'm overweight & have a lot of swelling in my legs, feet & sometimes all over. So, this video has been a lot of help due to me trying to eliminate foods that are possibly the cause of the inflamation & of course, to help me lose weight too. Thanks.
Natural medicine is food in west industries. if you use the right food. you may able to get RA away. according to the study, general food is not able to help. a great suggestion is study a Canadian licensed natural food type propduct ARTHRON 5, you may get a good result.
Yet I’m told I have orthorexia cause I don’t wanna be worse with my issues My joints kill Skins inflamed Eyes nose mouth dry Severe depression and anxiety High cholesterol Elevated liver enzymes Prediabetic But I can’t eat healthy because it’s orthorexia This is driving me insane I’m forced to just get worse
"Inflammatory foods are ultraprocessed with multiple ingredients you've never even heard of, like microwave popcorn". Microwave popcorn is corn, oil, salt (and maybe some flavoring if that's your thing). "Non-inflammatory foods are things you can find in nature, unprocessed, one-ingredient foods. Like bread." Bread listed as one-ingredient? Not processed? Like, even the simplest, pre-historic bread requires processing grain, mixing it with some king of binder, kneading and baking (more processing). Sure, her conclusions are right: ultraprocessed foods are bad for your health, fruits and vegetables are good, avoid excess sugar, all that stuff. In this talk, however, she's arriving there mostly by luck/faith/coincidence. Maybe she's just nervous or not media trained, but the way she just keeps talking through her own inconsistencies makes me think of ChatGPT's strategy of saying whatever, but saying it confidently.
Not trying to be rude, but you could type that into a search engine and get a far quicker answer 😉. Nightshade is a plant family; most prominent of these are tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes, and peppers
@@EhurtAfy no worries! But I’m really clueless to what s going on in this high tech, social media 21century world and often forget but I can help you in the ocean when it comes to 🦈 Mano ( sharks) 😆 slowly I m catching on , kind of stuck in a “ TIME WARP” mahalo nunui for reminding me . My grandchildren always trying to remind me 🥰 I plant a lot have many native and non natives herb, trees and veggie but often not familiar with there name
I'm so tired of listening to their experience and knowledge before getting to the subject matter that I tune out, pitty they seem to like to talk too much
Thats why there is a title you can read to determine if you want the information or not. Notice it didn't say "Why inflammatory foods are inflammatory"
