Just finished my deck today based on the template and it's an absolute beaut! Best video on RU-vid to give an everyday Joe courage to take on a well worth it project. Thanks for the post!

Awesome video man! Do you think the method I've seen of tracing the seam on the bottom of the boat would work for a template? Someone said to trace an inch inside the seam, but I didn't see that in the videos of people doing it. So I don't know which to do. Also, did you need to make the sections a little smaller for the hinges to hinge? was the stability around the hinges better than without? I was hoping to do without (for storage purposes). If i put the foam tube all the way around each section would that help if I didn't have hinges? thank you in advance for any help yo can offer. I know I through a lot at you, but I would really appreciate it!

Great video thanks for sharing!! I’m thinking about doing the three please for just the way you did and I am wondering does it feel pretty stable when walking near where the hinges are?
@myaudlife4399
@myaudlife4399 3 года назад
Yes, tends to be very much more stable since the hinges don't fully close on one end but just on the other to allow the wooden pieces to come together. I'd say it's not as stable when you're walking away from the hinge but it's because you're on an inflatable boat and it's gonna be wavy Ideally, the fewer pieces you have, the less wavy it's gonna be.

do you inflate the bottom before putting the hardfloor in?

Of all the RU-vid videos, this is the best floor mod I’ve seen. Definitely using this for the excursion I just ordered. One recommendation: I’m planning on adding fence cane bolts to the boards on top to really keep the boards in place and prevent any flexion.

Hi, thank for the video. It really helped me out. I was having a hard time trying to figure out the measurements and how to make the outline and you did that for us. I know its been over a year since you posted this but I have to ask, do you remember where you got that print out that you used for the corners? And lastly, I'd love to hear an update on where you are a year later, did you ever make the bimini? I didn't see the video and did you keep the floor in 3 pieces or did you end up making 1 solid piece? I plan on doing a floor similar to this but I want to add a couple of captains chairs as well and a storage box for my battery and other equipment.

I'd put something over those hinges that are facing down they might puncture the boat. You might need a thin piece of carpet lined plywood at the underside of the front hindge to stop the opening and closing an possible pinching of the tbe boat floor bottom at this point.

Do you inflat the floor when using your "deck"?
@sirartures
@sirartures 3 года назад
Intersting mod! Im planning to do that, but i want to know, you inflate and deflate every time you use the boat? With the hard floor would be better to leave the boat on a port or something no? You think is good idea? I don’t want to damage the boat keeping it all the time on the water.
@myaudlife4399

It works just fine inflating and deflating, no worries when you have carpet and foam backing

Might want cover up those hinges on the bottom side because they might pop that floor. Maybe swap them with the hinges with the rounded corners. Either way thanks for the video and nice work.

It's 3/4" plywood that you find from your local hardware store. I suggest using that for structural integrity but you can probably use something thinner.

Great video!! How much do you think the floor weighs?
@myaudlife4399
@myaudlife4399 3 года назад
I’d say it’s a little heavy since it’s 3/4 inch plywood. I’m 140lbs and I can still pick it up and move it around. I’d say it’s around 35-60lbs

Hi! Really nice way to make a foldable floor. I was planning to do so first, but I am not actually sure if this hinged floor is stable enough on the water. So I was planning to make a 4 piece floor, with bolts and nuts in between the parts. So one can simply screw the parts together with a 3d printed nut sleeve. I think I will document the building process and share the video of this approach on here. Maybe this would help someone out as well.
@Runescape.
@Runescape. 2 года назад
you could make it very sturdy with a sliding type of kingpin that goes between each section, 2 one on each side. pretty simple to do just gota buy the hardware. sorta like what a trailer hitch has, you just need to bolt some U shaped shakles onto each section and slide a kingpin thru em.
@evan2290

Did you ever do it? I would love to see. I am wanting to make a 4 section floor as well, but am worried about stability. Unfortunately I don't know much about building stuff. @evan2290 hi! Unfortunately I didn't had the time yet to start this project. But I could make some 3D models on how to build this and make it public for others. Maybe on thingiverse, since I would 3D print some parts. I will post a link here im the comment section.

Cool boat with very nice inflatable floor on which you can easily stand. Why do so many people need wooden floor ? To make boat heavier , harder to transport ? To have less space in the boot of your car ?
@ILSLF
@ILSLF 2 года назад
I think it being so soft and bouncy makes it kinda less stable especially when they've got fishing lines to handle. Kinda like walking on an inflatable bouncy castle I think the slatted floor for the intex mariner would make it a tad more stable for standing and walking on. I'm thinking of doing something with the IKEA bed base when my inflatable boat arrives

Just curious how stable is the floor when the boat is on the water
@myaudlife4399
@myaudlife4399 3 года назад
Definitely quite stable. If you want it to be crazy stable then you have to make a solid piece instead of a 3 piece.
@ILSLF
@ILSLF 2 года назад
Bro, just out of curiosity, since the last third is smaller than the other 2, would it be a good idea to have the hinge on the same side and have it fold in on itself like a package instead of a z-fold. It's not gonna fold as flat or as neatly, but there should be some allowance right? Since the last part is about 2/3rds the width of the other 2 portions, so it wouldn't stick out too much or too crazy
