I tried this today and my whole family loved it! I used 1 stick of butter. 1cup of dark brown sugar, 1/2 cup of white sugar, a little cinnamon, pure vanilla extract, and nutmeg and the marshmallows. This was the best candies yams I ever made! Thanks for the guidance on it. Along with some tips from my mom I will be making it like this from now on!
In her recipe she said to use light brown sugar but I accidentally bought dark brown sugar, I seen your comment you used dark brown, did it still come out good??
Omg, I had 1 sweet yam 🍠so I decided to make cany yams 🍠 . I followed yr directions and boom 💥, it came out perfect. Pure perfection. And it taste so yummy 😋. Thank you 😊
I prefer to not boil my yams as it accumulates a lot of water. I put them in the oven with the butter and sugar covered in foil for about 40 minutes until soft and another 15 without foil. This was so delicious!!
Candied Yams has always been one of my absolute faveeeeeee dishes for thanksgiving. But this year was my first time making it on my own; & I used this recipe. LORRRRRRRRD; I’m glad I did because it was so delicious!!!!! Everyone loved them, & all I did differently was use dark brown sugar instead of light brown, other than that’ I followed it all step for step and I don’t regret it! 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ thank you!
I tried candied yams with marshmallows for the first time last thanksgiving and they were delicious so I’m trying to learn how to make them for this thanksgiving
this is the exact vintage recipe I have been looking for. When I was a kid, oh so long ago, this is what I remember as a staple during the holidays, and you have to have the "candy sauce", as we called it ! So many recipes call for mashed sweet potatoes whipped into a kind of potato pudding spread with marshmallows on top, and that is not the same. The sauce is everything ! Thanx.
Love this recipe so much but if you can please edit the description because 1 stick of butter is missing. I bet there are people who forgot to add butter because they probably read the description and skimmed through the video lol. Anyway my boyfriend and I have made it 3 times so far and will be making it again tonight! (:
Thank you so much for this! I made this yesterday with the marshmallows and they came out amazing! It was so easy, I'm so happy I found your channel!! :)
Yes bomb! I love camote(yams/sweet potatoes) my mom alwz made them like this chopped but we use piloncillo (mexican brown sugar) clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, star anise, sugar, butter & yes gotta have the bomboms(marshmallows) I brought it for a bring ur culture potluck once & someone asked.why isn't it mashed down like the traditional casserole in the U.S you know more I guess white washed no offense, but this is how I grew eating it I explained lol awsome recipe ! 🤎
Thank you for your recipe❣️ The only thing I did different was adding walnuts & Chinese five spice; which already has cinnamon; Anise seed;Cloves; Ginger & finally Fennel seed….Sending God’s Blessings to you & Family.🙏🏾📿🙏🏾
Hi there. I wanted to thank you for the easy to follow recipe. I made some to take to a Thanksgiving Dinner. My dish was one of the completely eaten ones. Yay.
@@IslandVibeCooking GIRLlllll!!! let me tell u my story about this DISH I CAN'T..IT WAS NOTHING LEFT 2 SHOW.. made 2 turkey size pans!!! 1 with & another without the marshmallows!! So I know it was the BOMBZ!!! THANK-U thank-u thank you 4 this recipe
This is my 3rd time making this dish from your recipe and I have this superstition that if I don’t watch the video step by step while I make it, it’s not gonna come out amazing🤣🤣! My family LOVES it! Thank you for the recipe!
Confused on the difference between the 2 different recipes, tho. Was it simply one WITH and one WITHOUT the marshmallows? Or were they made 2 different ways? Yes, I did watch this video. But I think I missed a clear cut clarification between what made them different. 🤔
Hi good evening , thanks i like how. You show how to make them. Got a question have you ever made without the cinnamon ? Cant use nutmeg either but have u ever tired a different way on making them or heard of something else to use that makes it taste the same ir close to it? Thanks for taking time to read. Have a good night. ☺
