Big on sweet potato--- short on time. Microwave for 5 minutes. Check if cooked----if not yet---microwave 2 minutes. Then put in oven 200 degrees---cook for 5 minutes or so.
My grandson refuses to "kill" his potatoes before cooking... he likes to cook them as is so he can hear them "scream"! I wasn't sure what he meant so he showed me. Not all potatoes do it, but this batch definitely bounced around and let out a very scary, high pitched scream! I was ready to duck and cover, but thankfully no explosions!
Thank you so much for taking your time to explain everything into details,It is really interesting to know about how to microwave sweet potatoes. I have been your subscriber for a long time and I have always liked your videos
I tried it … my sweet potato was soft at first when I took it out of the microwave. After 5 mins, it became clumpy & super hard like rock. Not edible at all. Any of you encountered this?
my microwave (American Home) has 4 levels of heat settings (low, med, med-high and High) but it doesnt say how hot is each setting. Would it be safe to use the 2nd highest setting or should I just go all out at High to lessen cook time?
Thank you for this video. It looks like you microwaved your potatoes on the actual plate of the microwave, correct? Even better as I know it will be safe 💜
Here's another time saving tip: Once the sweet potatoes are complete soft, remove them from the microwave and, using a fork, transfer the soft interior to your mouth, one bite at a time. Salt and butter optional.
You can put them in the microwave without the plate, but I have noticed that the potatoes often leak a bit, so it just makes it easier to clean if on a plate, but you don't have to.
It’s important to note that a microwave functions differently to an oven, in that: the more potatoes you add, the longer it will take -this is not true in the oven. Also: for even doneness, you want to flip the potatoes over halfway through.
