Johnny's brain works at light speed. I am convinced that he could write a witty sitcom. Do hair, makeup and costume, play all the parts, light, shoot direct and edit it too. Oh, wait.....
I hate to admit, but I was starting to get a little bored with all the mainstream/bigger name makeup launches. This episode was very much needed. Leave to the both of you to make me excited for makeup and skincare again! Thank you, B&B Sunday besties!! 🎉❤
“Her face will swimmin’ upstream, as her career swims downstream” I am so grateful that I hadn’t had a bite of my salad; I’d have choked. And hadn’t had a sip of water in my mouth; I’d have sprayed that all over my table! 🤣🤣🤣💖🤣🤣🤣 Love you Johnny & Kevin!
19:44 she also has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren’s syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), which she was diagnosed in 2022. I have all the same diagnosis, except Sjogren’s. That was the first time we saw her get sick and skinny. EDS is notorious for having comorbidities unfortunately. It loves to collect nasty friends….
I love LYS! I have their eye shadow palettes, blush, foundation, and concealer! Amazing products! I will continue to support. Love the triangular shape of all their products!
Thank you for highlighting Indie brands. I shop cruelty free and most indie brands meet that standard for me. Fun fact: Undefined is a black owned brand and one of Angie Hot & Flashy’s favorites 😊
Omg!!! TY soooo much for featuring my R&R Sun Serum! You literally made my day. And of course happy to send you more goodies!! 🤍 Xo, Dorian (Undefined Founder and big fan 🙌🏾)
This lady with severely hooded, oily, crepe-y eyelids SWEARS by the Gerard Cosmetics Clean Canvas Eye Concealer and Base!! It comes in 4 shades (white to cocoa) and enables me to use powder eyeshadow, which would last maybe an hour on my oily lids before I started using it. It's a gem!
Awww bless his little heart Erica! Enjoy them while their tots, they grow big so fast! Bless you too Erica, every Mommy deserves some me time! We earned it!🥰
I LIVE for Kevin thinking with his head and not his lips when he said "Gotta make sure they're not foolish before we go buying 4 of them!" I'm GUILTY!!! You two make the best team. xoxoxo
Can we please do an episode about Moira because they seriously have amazing Makeup save maybe sheglam and colourpop and show their amazing stuff like either a one brand episode or something
Ya'll want to talk about the Makeup Forever powder...but can we never forget the tomfoolery that Laura Mercier tried to pull on us with the "translucent" loose setting powder in light catcher?! I was new to makeup when i tried it out by setting it all over my face . My husband had to break the news to me that i looked like the tin man in daylight. Now i just use it as a highlighter and it actually looks beautiful.
Loved this, as a small local business owner i love to support indie brands. Plus i only use cruelty free products and a lot of indie brands make the effort to meet that standard.
Yeah, my clothes in the basket were waiting for this moment 😆 Definitely another great moment to listen Johnny and Kevin 💛 EDIT : « Make lip gloss great again » we need t-shirt with that! I hate oil lip, I prefer a thicker product, with a covering effect, which may or may not be sticky!💄 Sigma palettes are underratted, I have a pallette and a quad WOW, everytime I wear people ask me what I wear, the bronzer powder is very nice too (at great price)!
Yes to sharing & buying more indie brands! Im here for intentionally buying from businesses that still have integrity, quality, & passion in their products 💖💖💖✨
So happy you mentioned the 'about face' foundation!!! I got it on a whim and have been absolutely obsessed ever since. I have dry skin and this is the best foundation I've had in a very long time that wasn't so dewy it reflected the sun!
Cosmic Brushes palettes are gorgeous- mattes are creamy and the shimmer formulas are insane. Plus they’re honestly not that expensive- like $37 max but they have some palettes that are like $24 (shipping can be annoying since they’re UK based but it’s worth it). Unearthly Cosmetics is also a fantastic brand, their shimmer eyeshadows are like glass shards they’re so sparkly. Also their lip pencils are some of the best I’ve used- creamy but stay put and they’re HUGE. They have a great liquid lip formula too, more of a plush formula than a super dry down formula so they’re really comfortable. Ensley Reign is also a great brand- their duo chrome and multi chromes are insane with gorgeous mattes, bit pricey though but very worth it. Jolie Beauty is also a favorite of mine, they finally stopped putting pressed glitters in their palettes and I was so thrilled. Bella Beauté Bar is also fantastic- they do have a bit of that issue that you need a sticky base for a lot of their shimmers but they’re worth it. Oh! And Wicked Widow Beauty has a great formula with really interesting color stories to play with. Their liquid lips can be hit or miss though, the Love Sick collection ones weren’t bad just very much in the realm of 2016 traditional dry liquid lip formula, so not my favorite unless I need it to last the night. There are so many brands that are great to float around and try and play with. I try to follow a lot of indie beauty specific RU-vidrs to keep up to date with launches and new brands since a lot of the stuff in Sephora just has no interest to me anymore (the death of eyeshadow apparently that’s happening being one of the reasons). Love the episode always a highlight of my day! ❤
Sydney Grace is an incredible company. Their single shadows are their standout. The cream shadows, blush, highlighter, and lip products are excellent, as well. What's most important is that their customer service is unmatched. For Johnny & Kevin or anyone else who would like to give them a try, their Christmas in July sale goes on through Tuesday with different deals each day. My fave brand ❤
Blend bunny doing the cool & warm blush palettes with some actually unique colors- love & still on my try list. Im 2/3 in & hoping you include Oden’s Eye but if you don’t PLEASE try Odens Eye shadows I promise you’ll like them. One thing I love about the (I just made this word up) Indie-fluencers on YT is I’ve learned about SO many inspired, unique brands from them. 💜💜💜💜
My favorite indie brand is clionadh cosmetics. Their stained glass collection is breathtaking. The collection have all the multichromes your heart can desire and some more. And there are a lot different formulas, textures and finishes to choose from.
I WAY ramped back my skincare after you talked about halving it before putting on makeup in a previous episode and my makeup looked amazing! Between that and the "press-and-roll" setting powder technique Kevin was talking about I felt like I had never had a better makeup day and absolutely loved it.
Hey my love bugs. Thank you so much for this video! Being older it’s been really difficult to distinguish indie brqnds from one another. The good ones and my frustration buying shitty makeup. Love buying the best makeup tho so thanks to y’all I won’t give up on indie makeup. Planning to stop buying commercial and starting an indie brand collection 😊
What a great business idea, a store like Sephora or Ulta, but for harder to find indie brands. Not sure how that would do where you are but L.A. would eat that up. Love you guys as always, always the best part of my Sunday xo from an old
So happy you included Kim Chi blush on your list. I absolutely love it! Gorgeously pigmented and looks fresh for hours! I purchased the translucent powder recently based on your recommendation and it's also a winner. Thanks for the great tips!

I learn something new every episode! You both make learning it all fun. I'm standing in a store and Beautiful and Bothered pops into my head with, ..........GARBAGE or I'm Obsessed. That's good enough for me.
Omg Moira and KimChi are both soooooo amazing. I'm using the Puff Puff Pass right now and I love it so much. It makes my skin look soooooo flawless. I'm excited for the Moira powder. I got their waterproof compact powder and it was okay, not my favorite. I definitely need to try these out! 🙌🏻 Another amazing episode! ❤
I’m soooo excited for this episode! I feel like the true beauty lovers that love it, in part, for the creative expression & artistry will love indie. I have an adept palette & rarely, if ever, do you hear the bigger creators ever talk about brands like that or Oden’s Eye, unearthly, etc & if you love eyeshadow THOSE are the types of brands that are so fun!!
I got the Blend Bunny check palette because of the NYX blushes. I wanted three of them and the palette was the same price as three and you get more colors. Extremely pigmented but great formula and lots of fun
I would love a deep dive into products that are discontinued that you guys love. I was an AVID fan of OCC cosmetics and there was one color that worked me out front to back. It was called John Doe and it was a light taupy grey and it STUNNING and I wish OCC was still around because my god they were so ahead of their time. Also love you guys to bits!
Kim chi chic concealer is my choice for drag makeup and stage. It’s BEAUTIFUL on the skin. It’s so stunning. I have the white. A color corrector. A bronzer and contour. It does amazing things on my performers when I do makeup. And her powder is unreal. Love my Sundays with you both.
So, I already commented but I now finished the video and I HIGHLY recommend these Indie brands, Nomad Cosmetics, Ensley Reign Cosmetics, Gourmande Girls, Odens Eye, Fantasy Cosmetics, Simply Posh Cosmetics, Addiction Tokyo, Melt Cosmetics, and Lethal Cosmetics.
Thank you for answering the question I posed on Patreon. I do exfoliate at least twice per week, but I'm going to step it up to exfoliating the T-zone area daily or almost daily to see if I can finally get the foundation to stay in place. Thanks guys! (It's hard being oily and mature. The battle is real. 😉😂)
@@ChristinePacinda Ahh of course! We will definitely still answer your voice memo question in more detail on another episode! But I would recommend the Glow Recipe AHA Toner for everyday, it’s a great gentle daily exfoliator! 😍
All of my eyeshadow palettes are Indie brands. They are so fun to shop for! One catches your eye, you watch all the RU-vid looks, you go back and forth: should I or shouldn’t I. Ooooh multichromes 😵💫! Yes please. Then it comes and it’s soooo pretty inside and out. It’s a whole experience. Here’s my unpopular opinion, I like glitter fallout through the day🤣.
I was so upset when I was trying to get Rose, Dahlia, Peony from Ravie Beauty... and then I found out they don't ship to Canada! I really hope they will ship here one day because I want that formula in those colours so baaaaaaaaad! Really want to support Allie's brand!
This is wonderful! I always try to lean toward indie brands & these are great. My go-to fav indie brands are Gerard Cosmetics (Clean Canvas Eye Base), Melt (Slick Waterline Eye), Cover FX (foundations), Rituel de Fille (foundation, concealer).
Hi Johnny & Kevin, I love your content it’s always amazing, fresh and creative. Also your knowledge on beauty and makeup is so vast and helpful to all. I think that the cosmic brushes palettes are such great quality, pink honey brow products and glisten liners - just to name a few great indie brands. Thank you so much. Jade 😊
Ohhh, I love the Kaleidos trio! I am so pale I glow in the dark and this works for my fair/pale self. Five minutes in the sun with SPF 50 and I still burn pale/fair. Yes, yes, yes! My favorite and is not so tough to use for anyone who can basically blend their blush, especially as an old lady with mature skin! 👵😉
@Olivia-wx8eu So sorry, hon. No words can help, so I'll say a prayer for you. 🫂 God, please send our friend the help that she needs to work through this difficult time. Amen.
I just bought Blend Bunny’s Forget me not palette after Robert Welsh’s recommendation and the two blush palettes after your recommendation. I sent them a note to let them know who sent me 😉 💕
Don't think I have any indie makeup brands that you have not already mentioned but I do have a nail polish brand I enjoy. Lights Lacquer, she has some really good nail polishes and even nail care items as well.
Hi boys! Loved the video :) re: Kaleidos, they now offer the different pans of the contour palette as singles on their website! I’ve ordered from them a couple of times and found their shipping reasonable though it does take a little time. Also fully recommend their eyeshadows if you’ve never used them before, as well as their lip clouds (beautiful whipped matte lipsticks in amazing colours). Also for anyone that shops on YesStyle, Kaleidos is also available there though not the whole line I believe. Take care!
I just need to say you both slayed in this video! Johnny I loved your shirt and your skin was beautiful! And Kevin, that blush and lip was everything! Love ya boys! ❤️
I'm so sad to hear about Halsey's diagnoses... I know lupus is already bad enough but I've heard it can be treated and you can learn to live with it (I'm not diminishing it, its still an awful chronic disease, just looking on the bright side of this) but leukemia too?! That's so awful...Halsey is younger than me...I'll be 32 next week and can't fathom getting sick now...I'm also a young mom like them. And they just started a new happy relationship... I genuinely hope they find a plan to help treat the lupus and they caught the leukemia early enough to beat it! 😢 Although I do like their music and their voice is STUNNING I really love their makeup. I love About-Face and was ecstatic when I saw the multichrome eye paints. I was concerned they wouldn't blend with a brush but they do and stay very...multichromy...Idk what to call it but the shimmer doesn't fade from blending. I ended up getting all the shades but one called Inner World that keeps alluding me! 😢😢😢 Nvm, when I looked on the site to make sure I got the name right I saw its back in stock so its not technically alluding me anymore...so...Ig I'll buy it now. I just hate how high shipping and taxes in my state are... 🥝💚🖤
Have you ever thought of making a spreadsheet of all the makeup that comes in through PR and what you purchase so that you always are aware of what you have so when you use it up you take it off when it comes in you put it on.
I bought the About face foundation on a whim and now cannot live without it. It is my all time favorite at this point. If they ever change the formula or discontinue it I will die.
Favourite indie brands for eyeshadows include Cosmic Brushes - similar matte formula to Blend Bunny but cheaper (even I think for the US customers to import from the UK). Arttitude Cosmetics also UK. Oden's Eye from Sweden. Unearthly Cosmetics, Fantasy Cosmetica, Simply Posh, Ensley Reign and Nomad Cosmetics all USA. Glaminatrix Australian. Lethal Cosmetics are German but available from Camera Ready in the USA.
Excited to hear more about Indie brands from y’all! I’ve been really enjoying buying indie stuff over the last year, and I think I first bought stuff from Moira after hearing about them from you two.
Really enjoy Nomad Cosmetics. Their color stories are fantastic, especially if you're looking for inspiration for a colorful look. I don't find the mattes to be patchy, though there is some fallout.
I really, really love Oden's Eye and Nomad Cosmetics. I strongly suggest trying them out! They both have my favorite go-to palettes. Oden's Eye it's the Alva II palette and their Jewels and Gems palette. With Nomad it's their Stargazing and Verona palette. Also, with Nomad their destination palettes always have part of the proceeds go towards something environmental based on where it's from, or just to the WWF
I remember when Urbay Decay was launched in Australia. It was in about 1999 in a store called George’s. I was BLOWN away!! It was like nothing I’d ever seen before especially as my makeup bag consisted of Estée Lauder and Clinique. I was only 17 so wearing cosmetics aimed at middle aged women was so boring. Urban Decay had GLITTER!! I think I’ve had space cowboy in my makeup bag ever since! Life changing!!
You guys need yo be sponsored...by like a drink or snack company because these episodes make me want to grab a drink or a snack and just listen. Redbull or iced tea is my guilty pleasure right now
I bought the Kaleidos trio pack back when you first reviewed it and I use it nearly every day. I love it so much! Thanks for always giving honest and REAL reviews.
