One of the coolest things I’ve seen made over a live fire. Once that corn started to pop it smelled amazing! The Amish have kettle corn locked down! #grillinwithdad #tasty #popcorn #foodie #eeeeeats #blessed #grill #nomnom
They're famous for their cheap wood furniture. Good quality stuff, but they just mass produce it. Idk about the food though. I have Amish in my town and have seen them in many other places. They don't have food trucks or anything like the Mexicans do. Now the Mexicans, THEY can cook
And baked goods! oh its absurd how good their baked goods are. Used to live close to a amish community in Tuscarawas county in ohio, their baking was second to none. Best pies iv ever had even all these years later.
Amish people are some of the coolest folks. I would see them a lot when my family would travel through Pennsylvania. They are peaceful, and keep to themselves.
🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️ I just ran across some cool ones in Pennsylvania, no beef, all love. Just straight Daps and that was it… I don’t know about the other stuff.
If you talk to them they’ll talk to you. I live amongst them and they’re the same way here in Pennsylvania. Not very social people unless you talk to them first.
@@alZiiHardstylez your mom 💀 i’m kidding, there is a meme going around where an image/video of something weird happening will be shown with the caption “only in ohio”. ohio has kinda been meme’d on for a while, but the idea of ohio being weird is new in meme culture
Keeping the stir is key to achieve this, along with good temperature. And he probably does this for a long time so he knows the perfect timing. But yeah it's amazing.
I guess once you hear the popping stop that is the time to take it off the heat, maybe a fair gap between the stop of popping and burning especially if you are moving them around. Naturally due to bulk density the unpopped corn will settle to the bottom of the pan.
Been there many times as well as the Chardon Maple Sugar Festival, but Holmes is the best authentically produced traditional kettle corn I have ever tasted in 76 years.
@@crutch9290 that they are. Remember when it was in the news about the Amish fellow that was in his 60’s or so, broke into a few other Amish homes at night wile they were asleep, and cut off the beard of the men who’s house he broke into? It was all over the news here. Kinda chuckled when I seen it, but was not to be taken lightly. He got a serious punishment for it if I remember correctly 🤔
Oh you can tell the difference between bake store bought to the amish or mennonite baked goods I usually buy the those creme donuts about four of them fresh baked and I tell ya so good..
The couple look like they having the time of their lives, absolutely loved the smile the old man was giving when cooking AND he wasn’t even looking at the camera. Thats pure joy and happiness! This made my day ten fold
They probably got them fresh kernels with a lot of moisture inside. Most of our commercial products have to go through several steps before they are actually sold, so products like hard corn and all soft tissued fruits like berries are not how they're supposed to be. Fresh produce hits different
@@rolux4853 It's a running joke in the US that turned into a meme somewhat recently. It's kind of like the whole "Florida man" meme if you're familiar with that (Florida is basically a hellhole and for whatever reason there are tons of absolutely batshit insane people doing extremely weird things, getting arrested for those things, and having their stories reported on in the local news). Ohio is a pretty okay place in the midwest here, but it seems to have more than its fair share of weird people. It's not the same type of weird as Florida though, it's kinda the opposite; Ohio is pretty much the single most boring state in the US, or as one of my favorite posts about Ohio reads: "Ohio is geographic stale white bread." From there, people started making absurd memes poking fun at how boring of a state it is by coming up with really out-there jokes and memes that made it out to be some kind of fever-dream alternate dimension filled with the craziest people and places you could imagine TL;DR: It's a meme, Ohio is a little weird so people like making fun of that
@@MKRM27 The amish where I live look like 30 years old but are actually late 60s I asked a man how old he was and he said guess and I did and he said he was almost 70
@@suevis Joke or not, that's not fair to anyone. A wife should be a partner and counsellor, a trusted companion. No one who honors their marital vow or God should be beating their partner in anyway.
Oh I recognize that when the little lady came up with her head cover. I know that's the Amish I have an Amish cookbook they are superb cooks, thumbs up to the Amish community
I have Amish neighbors all around me they cut my grass, cut up all my deer I bring them and make burger/sausage. I get all my chickens from them, they work on my mowers and ATV when needed and all for a cheap price. They're such nice people couldn't ask for nicer neighbors. We even have a little competition every gun season on who gets the most and biggest deer. I let their kids fish my pond and play with my son. Extremely nice people
My stepdad drives the Amish in the east ottertail and wadena county area in western Minnesota and they always invite him and my mom to what I call an Amish BBQ. I have gone with them a couple of times when I was up visiting them. They are some of the most down to earth people i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Whether they make furniture or food, they have some of the best craftsmens and women in the world.
That looks amazing. I have never had fresh made Kettle Corn but this did remind me of fresh corn. We lived in Michigan for a few years when i was younger. We would drive over into Canada for the day. On the side of the road farmers would set up thses roadside stands. Fresh corn from the field, boiled then dipped in a vat of butter. Literally the sweetest and best tasting corn i have ever had.
I’d imagine the taste everyone raves about in Amish food is to do with ingredients being fresh / non-processed as much as technique. That looks yum as heck!
Like getting a song stuck in my head. Now I'm going to be thinking about popcorn. Especially kettle corn. I'm debating whether I should go to the store and buy a bunch of supplies. Thanks man. Thanks a lot. 😅😂
@@Hu5tL1nJuNk13 maybe it is possible to have one made. Build a pattern and ask someone who works with cast iron. Yes, that set up is admirable . These would be great for so many things, especially in remote villages.
GLORIOUS!!! The perfect size, shape and thickness of the cast iron cauldron, the perfect fire, the perfect amount of oil, the stoichiometric amount of corn, the perfect swirl action and cook time, the millisecond pincer movement perfection by wife/helper who was there at the absolute precise moment and deft enough to get every singke kernel without a single one burnt, left behind or dropped, was just an utter delight!!🥰
My mom is Delaware Amish. My dad was what the Amish call English. My mom left the church at 18 after her rumspringa was up and met my dad at her first job as a waitress when she was 23. They stayed together for 15 yrs until my dad's passing in '93 . I wasn't raised up by the Amish ways but I grew up around my Amish cousins and relatives. I was never allowed to learn the language that the Amish speak (Pennsylvania Dutch) because my dad didn't want my brothers and I to speak in a way that he couldn't understand. But, he loved my mom dearly. He was a very old fashioned farmer raised during the depression. Anyways, I was raised by my mom's Amish cooking and you wouldn't believe the things I ate that were a staple Amish food and delicious in a way that is too much for me to express in words. Especially the candy and kettle corn. Everything was homemade from the fields to the tables that it was made on. I consider myself lucky for having the raising that I was given. I am genuine.❤
Lol don’t listen to these idiots they just look at stuff what’s trending on tik Tok I’d pay $7 easily for one batch of this rather than the bags at the store
The Amish and Pennsylvania Dutch make some amazing foods. I remember going to Booths Corner farmers market in PA, the pretzels, fresh potato chips and the kettle corn was delicious.
It is I'm in this area I bought some at a fair that all the Amish come to and sell things it's amazing it's alittle expensive I believe it's like $12 for a medium bag but definitely worth it 😋
