Xander is one of my prime examples of a good ranger; he goes from a brash and lazy worker, to a respectful hard-working leader.

I think the sole critique for Power Rangers should be “Is this character relatable?” Remember how Zordon assembled the original team on the basis of “teenagers with attitude”? That put the awesome powers of a Ranger in the hands of ordinary humans with admirable virtues. It gave viewers the sense that _they_ could be Power Rangers one day. Wes didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. Trent had to choose between friends and family. Z wanted to help the community, but wasn’t initially sure how. Casey felt like his teammates were way ahead of him. Emily thought herself too sensitive. Nothing about Koda’s new Home was familiar to him at first. These are all things people can relate to or sympathize with. Is it any wonder DB talks so favorably about Carter Grayson? Carter saw firefighters in action as a kid, and thought “I want to be like that someday.” Isn’t that what _Power Rangers_ are all about?

Preach! And will somebody tell the Ninja Steel writers that a pretty girl being able to build her way out of any problem is the exact opposite of being relatable.
@benjaminbierley2074
@benjaminbierley2074 3 года назад
@@TheDisneyBrain Not to poke the bear, but that problem goes beyond just Ninja Steel and Power Rangers. Back to Kyle Stubbs point, 100% agree, it's why even decades later fans look fondly on Power Rangers, because most of the time the characters were relatable, we saw ourselves and what we could be in them. The end tag line for Spider-man Into the Spider-verse sums it up "Anyone can wear the mask. You can wear the mask."

I would have added Billy to the list as well, considering he started out as weak and timid in the series, and got bullied by Bulk and Skull. But he also had several character centric episodes that helped him grow strong, like when he jumped into that other dimension alone to save a girl he liked. It wasn't until season 2 that he became confident in his abilities, showed that he was not only just the brain of the group, but also a competent fighter to be reckoned with. From season 2 all the way to his departure in Zeo, Billy also demonstrated that he could be an effective leader should he need to step up to the role. Also, he's just my favorite Ranger in the series.
@UltimaKeyMaster
@UltimaKeyMaster 6 лет назад
Hell, you can see Billy's growth just by his S1/S2 morphs. His call for Triceratops is kinda shaky and borderline voice cracking in S1, but by S2 we not only get to hear him call it more confidently, it's showing his entire torso to reinforce his physical growth as well. ...That point kinda becomes moot when S3 has them hide their bodies again, but eh.
@HELLBENTSOUL
@HELLBENTSOUL 6 лет назад
Shit. I haven't even noticed his voice during his morphs. Goes to show that he really progressed as a character throughout the series. I really do hope there's a chance his character would come back in a special or team up episode.

The “best” rangers are the ones that are gonna fight their hardest even when they dont have powers. Tommy is told by Alpha its too dangerous for him to fight without his powers, his response is “i dont care, im a power ranger”. Kind of related, Carter running right at a giant monster with only his guns. Those kinds of situations show the true colors of a person. This is what made the Overdrive team so terrible was that they all gave up on protecting people once they lost their powers, despite that that team up had the line that perfectly captures the idea “once a ranger, always a ranger.”

Casey is definitely up there in the favourites scale on my list. He doubted himself since day one, and didn't feel like he belonged in the team at first. But his decision to remain within the team, and sacrifice every ounce of his being, even with the threat of losing his life to save a friend, was enough to make me root for him the entire season. Hell, I still get chills when he ignores Mao, and goes to rescue Jarrod. With The Strength of The Tiger! Jungle Fury, Red Ranger!

I'm always happy when I hear people talk about TJ. I grew up watching In Space and Turbo nonstop and he was my favorite blue ranger for as long as I can remember. It was mainly due to his moment in the psycho ranger arc with the blue paint idea, but I came to realize he really does a great job as second in command because of his experience and demeanor. I mean the In Space team is his team so the fact that recognizes Andros as the one who is their new leader garners a lot of my respect.
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
I love TJ, and not just because he was the first Red Ranger to look like me. Honestly, younger me barely had any concept of race, so I'm not sure it even mattered to me back then. But even still, he was everything both his teams needed and then some. It's hard to pull off being a chill, quieter presence like him and not be boring, but boy does he make it work.

@@TheDisneyBrain Wow, I honestly did not know you were a person of color, that's pretty cool. I'm also of color myself and it was great to see a leader of color like T.J. for the first time on screen. However, like you, I never payed too much attention to it because I was always obsessed with the ranking positions, ranger colors , and personality of the rangers, particularly the green rangers, as green is my favorite color. So I was particularly psyched to see Damon be the first green ranger of color and he is quite possibly one of my favorite and top green rangers of all time.

the determining factor of a "best" power ranger is the synergy with their team mates. no character can be good one their own. This is why the neo-saban power rangers seem so bad, they lack chemistry or the chemistry is weak. I mostly blame it to bad writing, because most of it could have been fixed with some small tweaks.
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
Well put! I actually wish I had mentioned team synergy specifically, but I guess it goes hand in hand with the supports I discussed. A lot of those teams felt like real families, which is a big reason why Lost Galaxy still resonates with me. Meanwhile, Samurai is literally a bunch of kids forced to go to summer camp all while pretending to be friends and worshiping Jayden, who wants nothing to do with them most of the time.

My favorite ranger, while critically is not a great character, is Brigde Carson. He is fun to watch and relatable. But the best ranger character I personally think is Ziggy Grover. His ignitional excitement just to work with the Power Rangers demonstrated that he was fine knowing his rule was not as a hero. His shock and fear upon realizing he had morphed proves that he knew he was not right for the job, and yet his joy about it after the said shock showed his understanding of his new rule even if he did not take it seriously. And the growth he shows in the series is just too much to cover (besides the video did most of it for me), he just becomes an amazing person. The fact that he never hesitate to protect others, and put more value on others than himself makes him a good rule model for the children watching. My final point is that he chose to start a school and I have to show love to my fellow educators.

Underdogs are definitely my favourite. Ziggy is just the best example of this criteria. As the season goes on you see him develop not just as a character but also in combat. We see him throwing his axe cluelessly around at the first few fights of the season and then later on we see him throw himself into battle. Other characters as you said are Casey and the entire B-Squad that are also good in this line. (I also like characters becoming better leaders such as Jack, Carter, Casey (again) and Wes. Sky and Xander I fell fall into this criteria aswell.) Keep up the good work anyways Brain, let it be Pokemon or Power Rangers. (Can't wait for In Space!! Also, you probably will anyways, but could you talk about how the Psycho Rangers are so good villains) 👍👍👍

If not the greatest, I always found Ziggy Grover the most memorable. Like you said, underdogs are usually my favourite characters. The fact that he wasn't supposed to be a ranger made his journey interesting to watch. His witty comments and relationships with Dr.K and Dillon were my favourite parts of RPM. His backstory was written very thoughtfully and right from the beginning I was interested to know how on earth a guy like Ziggy had so many enemies. I loved how his fighting style matched his personality. I could probably go on and on about why I love Ziggy so I'm going to stop here :p PS. I'm very excited for your 'In Space' Review :D

Like some guys that stand out in my opinion would be andros, dillion, rj, leo, cam, eric, trent, dustin, jen, ziggy, and chip. All those rangers are truly one of a kind and will never be replaced or recreated to perfection.
@JadenOmega

To me Jason is the best ranger cuz Jason made me want to be a power ranger to begin with, like with his brave, courageous, and big brother nature, he ultimately cared about his ranger brothers and sisters and treated them like family, and plus he could hold his own too both as a character and s a ranger, although part of me was mad that he was stripped of his leader position in Mighty Morphin and never took it back when he came back in Zeo when i was a child, but now I'm kinda glad he didn't take it back in Zeo cuz it made the last season's extra ranger and Red ranger switch roles, in more ways than one. There are LOADS of rangers in the series who deserve this spot Andros from in space, Carter from Lightspeed Rescue, Wess and Jen from Time Force, Cam from Ninja Storm and those are just a few but to me, Jason stands out above them all cuz Jason made me want to be a ranger to begin with.

To be honest, my favorite Red Ranger is Jack Landors... sure from a leadership standpoint he isn't always the greatest, but Jack is the character who got dealt cards in life he didn't want to play, and learned from that. Jack needed to learn responsibility as SPD Red and evolved from a character who didn't care for others as much as Z to a guy who cared so much about others and his team, including Sky... as shown when Jack gave his morpher to Sky so that he could fight Mirloc in the same colors as his father... a powerful moment of growth from Jack that shows how he became more aware of the feelings of others. And while Jack leaves SPD in the end... he leaves with the disicipline and responsibility to really make a differece outside of SPD. Honestly, he was the perfect character to clash with Sky Tate throughtout SPD, for the very reaons you explained in this video when talking about Sky.

Do you know how some characters were made to be super interesting but sometimes flop? I think that is what happened with Troy and Gia. I particularly kept my focus on Troy for reasons I was not sure of beforehand, but now see why I wanted more. The fact that we know very little about him and how he faced adversity in his childhood would have been something nice to explore if there were more seasons. The same goes with Gia. You cannot be perfect at everything, so challenging that and breaking fown her walls could have been interesting to watch. Megaforce was the first season of Power Rangers I have ever watched (considering I was born in 2003 and didn't know about Power Rangers until a few years ago.) But from what I saw from the other seasons, I see why people rip on the current ones now. It's all about how you write characters and how you want them to progress in the series, something that I didn't see much of besides Noah and kind of Orion.
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
I'm not sure who wrote Noah's first focus episode, but whoever that person is needed to handle the arcs of everyone. Such an interesting episode that sort of takes inspiration from Billy's progression from geek to self assured hero, but is also its own thing. It still boggles my mind that the Megaforce writers assumed we didn't want more of that.

Megaforce was my first season of Power Rangers too. Though honestly I think it’s the worst season of Power Rangers. I find super Sentai and definitely Kamen rider more interesting and entertaining and it’s obvious why with Super Ninja Steel this year. Hasbro has to change it up for Beast Morphers or they’re just gonna lose me. I won’t tolerate the mess up of a potential RPM sequel and honestly, it’s the last chance I’m giving power rangers. Dino Super Charge figuratively burned me and Ninja steel did nothing to improve it. The only definitive thing I can say right now though is that even if Hasbro doesn’t get Beast Morphers right, it honestly can’t get much worse if at all.

Good picks. You took some of mine so I will make a new one-on-one. 1)Career Rangers who step up in future seasons to help other teams- The mmpr crew: Adam the black Ranger, he stepped up to help multiple Rangers from Carlos to the Overdrive crew. Tommy of course. Billy who gave zeo powers to become the original Dr K. Jason, he came back to do when they needed him. Honorable mention- forever red, all the team up episodes. 2)People who looking for a higher purpose become Rangers- You mentioned Z Delgado but I have a few to add- Flynn from rpm, his whole story arc is to be a hero and technically is one before he becomes a Ranger. The replacement Rangers from Mmpr- Adam, Rocky, Aisha- they helped the unmorphed Rangers which is a big deal when you consider the danger the put themselves in. Antonio from Samurai, he built a suit just to become a Ranger. Honorable mentions- Tj, Carlos, and Cam. Also Casey. 3)in honor of ninja steel- variety of "rangers fear no danger"- Alien Rangers, they risked their lives in a inhospitable climate to help another team because they needed them. The original Gold Ranger- helped Zeo and was willing to give his powers to someone else. Sam and his lady friend in SPD- both stepped up to preserve the past to fix the future. Honorable mentions-Zhane, Zenowing and Kat from SPD. 4)Unheralded/underdeveloped superstars- Haley from Ninja Steel- she should've gotten alot of the story that Sarah had. Haley should've been the voice of reason and helped Brody (who should've been morally ambiguous due to his time with Galvanix). She also should've been the one to challenge Veera. My top 5 fave(Lauren from Samurai)- underappreciated but still was vital to her team winning. She should've been the leader and rightfully was but as she constantly was disrepected. She made the weapon that saved the day. Shelby from Dino Charge- her resume should make her a top ten ranger- invented a machine to find the energems, created a zord,tamed another, gave up wealth to work as a waitress to follow her dream, was at times equal intelligently to her mentor and the mentor at times learned from her.
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
So much YES on the Haley side of things. I really think she's trapped under a lazy, sub-par script/show. I honestly think that her natural charisma could have made her a top tier Ranger if only they bothered to do something with her character.

For me it’s all about their overall development and their arc, Ryan Mitchel from my perspective has both these thing going for him, A misunderstood Ranger gone good who time and time again, ignored his own fate and showed that he could overcome what held him back while having a good chunk of the season focused on him, from his intro to the cobra saga to finding a way to shut down the demons, it all fit so well and the fact that even though he was their 6th member, he took a break which gave us more smaller group aspects.

I personally enjoyed RPM the most mainly due to Ziggy. I felt like I could relate to him very easily, in a way that felt like, if he were real, Id want him to be my idol. In the beginning of rpm, Ziggy is shown as a guy with no back bone, and you wonder how he even survived for that long. But the more you watch and understand Ziggy’s story, you realize how “Human” he is. Yet at the same time, he has qualities that any other ranger would have. As you start of on Ziggy’s story, youd think he’d just be a good comic relief character for a couple episodes. But as Ziggy continued to prove himself to Dr.K and dylan, and basically the whole team, they actually saw him as a teammate that they could rely on. As your video said, Ziggy even saves the man who tried to kill him even though he could’ve easily left him there to die, but that’s not ziggy. Even if he feels like he has no chance of defeating an enemy, he still gives it his best, even if he’s scared and weak. He’s the embodiment of “even if I fail I’ll keep trying” and for those who watched RPM and enjoyed it, I felt like every character had good and bad qualities but still worked to overcome them.

Best as Rangers really breaks down as a report card: 1) are they people you like to see 2) does the character have a good background and is well themed 3) is the character good in role as a team mate/leader/badass 4) does the character seem relatable 5) does the character grow as they resolve the series battle I know not simple. That is how I see it so, when so many characters that one person dislikes and another likes it is often that they fail at some of these tests. Like OO seems to rub fan raw because of a major #1 fail (fair or no). The more of these tests a character fails, the more I think we get agreement on the fail of some and the success of others.

RJ is 100 percent my favorite ranger and I think he's one of the best. He's got unique ways to teach his team as their mentor, had a really good character ark concerning his relationship with his father, and to top it all of he's hilarious. And if I do say so myself, wolf ranger is a pretty badass suit. I just love RJ.

I like the "badass Rangers" like Tommy Oliver, Anubis "Doggie" Krueger, Mike Corbett/Magna Defender, Merrick, and technically Leanbow....and what I call the "sexy kick-ass lady Rangers" like Kendall Morgan, Taylor Earhardt, Summer Landsdown, Lily Chilman, Jen Scotts, Karone, Tori Hanson and Lauren Shiba ( despite doing very little & being part of the generally terrible Samurai ). When I say sexy & kick-ass here, I'm not just talking about looks ( though every one of those I mention are gorgeous af ) or fighting ability. They all have the ability to lead when needed, they all have the heart & drive to do their best & get better over time ( again, Lauren was barely in the story, but probably had the best growth of anyone with the possible exception of Antonio... ), and all were just plain strong women who didn't fall into any major stereotypes. While even bad Rangers like Gia & Emma have the looks to be called sexy, they don't fit all the criteria. Karone even went through a full redemption arc to atone for her crimes as Astronema which is a major part of her making my list there and every one of these Rangers actually saved the others countless times in their respective seasons.

Honestly. Failure. Odd as it is, i love watching the failure scenario, shows the true colors. Jason during green with evil. T.J. at the end of turbo in chase into space and how that resolved in space. Leo with his point blank sacrifice, carter not thinking twice about going into bansheera’s lair. Wes sending his team back to the future and fighting everything off by himself. Cole at the end of wild force. The post zordon era did this tremendously with their red rangers. There are a few more too like Scott who’ve been handled really well, I gravitate to those to rally the team in a moment of failure

Maybe it's wanting to be a ranger vicariously through the ones I'm watching but I've always really appreciated characters that grasped just how FUN being a ranger can be. For all its flaws (the worst being SO much unrealized potential), DinoCharge did do this really well. I think part comes from the Sentai (Kyoryu Red and Blue are never not having fun) and from the actors (or at least Tyler and Koda) who not only care about the franchise and are having fun themselves but also respect and emulate the Sentai where it's appropriate (matching body languages and fighting stances when not morphed for instance).
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
Gosh, I can't wait to review Dino Charge, well, the first half at least. It was so great to have good Rangers again. I think you're right about the untapped potential, since there wasn't a true sense of progression for a lot of the characters, but did this show ever make me feel like a kid waking up on Saturday morning.

Scott sheeran Malificent, as the Black evil, disgraced ranger. Snow White and Belle, super sweet Pink or Yellow Rangers. Mulan and Aladdin, tied for Red Ranger. Ariel, Blue Ranger, as she's curious and positive as Billy was. Tomny Oliver, why? Because he's Tommy, the team needs a Tommy. Just my opinion. (Great question! I have seen the Descendants, so I just did Disney characters I knew off the top of my head.) Funny how Disney doesn't push male characters as there's no "Disney Princes" collection. How about Star Wars characters as Rangers and Villains? Anakin and Luke, two generations of Red Rangers and Leia, yellow Ranger. Mara Jade, Blue Ranger Kylo Ren, Green Ranger Obi Wan, the mentor character. Han, Black Ranger Boba and Jango Fett, Silver Rangers, Ashoka, White Ranger
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
Oooooh man! Lol, quite the question. If we're talking Descendants, then Uma would be an easy pick for evil 6th Ranger turned good eventually. Jay and Lonnie would both have to be on the team as the Black and Pink Ranger respectively. Ben seems like he'd probably be the Red Ranger. And then the last two spots can go to Evie and Mal of course, both sporting their signature Blue and Purple colors for Ranger suits. And maybe there's some type of Trans Dagger adjacent device that allows Mal to become a Dragonzord. That'd be sweet!

The Disney Brain cool thanks for your reply . Now in your opinion on Hasbro buying power rangers
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад
I think it was the right time for a new voice/direction for the franchise, since Saban wasn't really pleasing many people with his choices. Hasbro is a mixed bag on the media stage however. I don't really like most Transformers movies, their board game property films have been terrible, and even though I think GI Joe made for better movies, Hasbro is far less interested in that franchise, despite it having the freaking Rock! And nowadays, that same Rock is is a film every other month, so he might pass up a GI Joe 3. But television wise, I could see them working well with a Beast Morphers plot line that favors technology and futurism. At least visually, they can handle that much, depending on how much Sentai footage they plan to use. But if they can create great characters to match, we'll be set for years to come.

I agree with most of the things you pointed out. You discussed three of my all time favorites (Wes, TJ, and Sky). For me, I'd have to say that I look for a compelling character when it comes to being a strong ranger. If you have a decent actor/actress at the helm to go with good writing and storytelling, you have a good ranger. That's why most of your "great" rangers come from seasons like Time Force, SPD, RPM, and the like. As much as I want to like Ninja Steel, I could never call any of the rangers "great" because there isn't much passion put into that season. On the opposite end, I would call all of the rangers great in Ninja Storm (my favorite season), because it feels like everyone wants to be there. The chemistry between the cast, as well as fun storytelling, made a great season that I love.

I will wait patiently for your next analysis, sir but man the wait. First of all great analysis. It took me a bit to think about what I like in a Ranger and well I agree with most of your points. Likable underdogs are always on point, a good character arc, believable character development especially if the character is a jerk at first like Skye, willingness to die (or be seriously injured) for the sake of the world with or without powers, and being able to admit to their mistakes without too much difficulty or angst. Whichever ranger grabs your attention and makes you root for them is subjectively the "best" even if others don't agree. Sometimes they don't have to be the most developed to be likable. I still like Billy from the original MMPR and his story arcs were weak and cliche as heck until season 3. Jen is my favorite Ranger overall because her story appealed to me the most. I know there are better characters but she was the ranger that I cheered for the most, wept for, and really want to save enough money to go to a con for to meet her actress. Hopefully no spoilers: Her relationship with Wes, the confusion about what was the right thing to do, her drive to not only succeed and make things right but also willingness to alter her preconceptions when needed, and being aware of the consequences of changing the past too much. To me she proved herself as a leader and a ranger. SPD contains my favorite ranger team but Jen is my go-to.

my main reason for liking rangers is "i just think they're neat". if i connect to them, or like them, or find them entertaining, they win for me. its the reason why mack grabbed me where troy or jayden did not (same goes for brody... which i know is an unpopular opinion XD). if i find a ranger admirable i immediately fall for them. the second devon said "i dont work here, im just trespassing" i immediately decided that he was my favourite.

the reason lucas is not very important to the story in time force is because in timeranger, ayase is terminally ill with an incurable disease. in that version, he is very important to the story because he believes in tatsuya's words and fights for his own destiny. he is also very reckless with his body, knowing that he will die one day anyways. doing that to lucas would be weird for a power rangers show. but in sentai they tend to talk more about these dark subjects all the time. heck, the very first sentai had kiranger replaced and in the second one, everyone is a cyborg, 3 by choice and 1 because he died.

When the series was still new to me, my favorite Power Rangers tended to be the 6th Rangers (or any ranger after the main team) for standing out with unique outfits, tools, and debuting as the best. Now, similar preference to standout Rangers but with less bias to 6th Rangers. There's Billy from Mighty Morphin' (tech skills outside powers), Andros from In Space (worked solo or with Zhane before team), Ryan from Lightspeed Rescue (villain turned hero who actually was proactive), Jen from Time Force (possibly biggest badass), Kruger from SPD (commander and war veteran), RJ (quirky but effective master). Love Rangers with non-Ranger credentials. They'd still be awesome without being Power Rangers.

One thing I've been thinking about with Rangers, especially thinking of the best ones: Has there ever been a side character who wanted to be a ranger and worked non stop, but never became one? Essentially a failure who couldn't achieve their dream. The closest I can think of is Boom from SPD (which reminds me I need to see SPD again), but I can't think of anyone else. I know it's a super depressing concept that I don't think Rangers would ever tap into, but it did get me thinking. We've seen Rangers bust their ass and achieve their goals. We've seen Rangers already at the top continue to prove themselves. But what about those who worked harder than anyone, but still failed? This is something I feel could be covered in the comics but I admittedly haven't kept up. When I look at Rangers, I know that at the very end, the Rangers will win, even when they're defeated and their powers are gone. Even so, they're rangers. But I don't think we've seen an ordinary human, who does everything they can to be a Ranger, who's dream it is to be a Ranger, but can't. And it's not taken as comedy, but honestly. Ok, I might be projecting. Actually I'm totally projecting. Guess I just need a pick me up cause I'm not feeling too good about my civil service education/certification. Being team healer just might be impossible for me.
@TheDisneyBrain
@TheDisneyBrain 6 лет назад

Pretty much, lol. It'd probably be best as a B story. There's no way it'd be on anything other than Netflix or here on YT. But I definitely see this as being one of the better side characters. Someone who does admire the Rangers, but constantly has to battle with the desire to give up and turn heel, persevere and stay true to their ideals, or burn out and stay neutral. It'd work best if the A story focused on perseverance and overcoming obstacles to achieve a dream (or something along those lines), pushing the limits of Ranger fundimentals. Maybe having one ranger fail temporarily, but bounce back and be a light of hope. Whether it reaches or not is something all together ...I feel like this comment should be on another video. Like "Designing the ideal season".

@@headstrong29 there was the whole brown sentai situation in Shinkenger but that was only one episode and he still was treated like an actual ranger by the team. Also while I personally hate Samurai considering it is one of the worst seasons of Neo Saban Power Rangers and its just a worse Shinkenger Antonio was a great character having failed to be recognized as a ranger for so long despite his perseverance towards becoming one including making his own zords, suit, and morpher as well as his overall determination to become a ranger not just because he thought they were cool but because he was determined to protect others with honor as any ranger should. Heck in the show he even genuinely failed a lot at least early on in his career as a ranger but pushed on despite that only to later become one of the best rangers from Samurai in both a character standpoint but also in combat bringing a lot of changes the team desperately needed with the squid zord proving absolutely vital and his determination pushing Jaiden to become at least a slightly better leader.
@phoenixshadow4631
@phoenixshadow4631 3 года назад
Overall though I think a whole series where a ranger has to overcome their own short comings is probably best exemplified in Casey who is constantly growing throughout Jungle Fury as he not only starts as the weakest of his team but he also has his leadership skills challenged throughout his career as a red ranger first by Theo not respecting him, then by RJ unintentionally taking over a leadership role for a short while, and eventually even losing a bit if faith in himself because of his lack of a spirit master up until he finally got to learn the Shark style after the others had already gotten their respective Masters. Despite these issues and many others due to his willingness to learn and adapt to overcome his perceived failures he not only became one of the best red rangers imo but he also was able to truly be the glue that his team needed, change the villains of the show to being good more naturally, and even maintained his position as one of the most relatable rangers throughout it all. Honestly seeing a series with writing as good as that of Jungle Fury but with a side character fighting alongside the rangers the whole time even while unable to become one would be absolutely amazing and honestly would probably end up inspiring many people in our world much like Casey, Wes, Antonio (even though he's from one of the worst seasons) and others like them did.

For me - I value those who change, become better and stronger over time and in some cases, admit their flaws and issues and focus on fixing them. As much as I love Overdrive, the team of rangers seemed incomplete, cookie cutter almost. The only one who DIDN’T was Mack, and him coming to terms with both his robotic nature, and learning to trust both his father and himself again was a major part of the second half of the series, even if it DID overtake the rest of the show. Eric Myers and Sky Tate are very similar in that regard, as is Kendall from Dino Charge. They come to terms with their flaws, and become stronger both physically and emotionally. It’s something I personally strive for.
@phoenixshadow4631
@phoenixshadow4631 3 года назад
Casey is one of the best examples of this as he is a red ranger who was less experienced then his whole team but was willing to learn from all of his teammates and even directly changed more than almost any other ranger not only learning throughout the whole show but taught others to change as well in spite of his own weakness, the issues presented by being made leader with almost no experience and later having his leadership role challenged even if unintentionally by RJ, and even having changed himself so much that he was able to genuinely change the life of two of the main villains in his season. Another ranger that changed in a similar way is Billy who not only tried his best to overcome his whole weak nerd shtick to become a hero and succeeded but he also willingly gave up his powers to allow for the team in Zeo to form while he used his more nerdy tech skills to make sure that the other heroes who he had been friends with to continue working as Rangers, so not only did he overcome his weakness (quite literally as he had been very physically weak earlyon) but he later used what defined his life and led to that weakness to better aid the world in his own way. And this applies to so many of the other greats in terms of ranger history.

You wanna talk about character development? Dino Thunder takes the cake. And I'm talking about every single one of the rangers, no exceptions. 1. Conner was an arrogant, hot-headed who learned humility and responsibility of being a team leader 2. Ethan was a geek who never payed any attention to anything around, who learned how to use his skills to help others besides himself and be a valuable team player 3. Kira was an angsty self-centered wannabe Diva who learned to care for her friends. 4. Tommy's development arguably spanned from Mighty Morphin as a side character who often got benched and only showed up when necessary, to reliable team leader, and now mentor who passes on his knowledge gained from years of being a Power Ranger. 5. Trent not only redeemed himself from when he was evil, but also learned to trust his friends and counting on them, even with his darkest secrets. Still the greatest season of Power Rangers ever to this day.

My answer for me will probably be smarts and progression. If you don't have those then you are just a robot with no real purpose. Megaforce had 4 of the rangers not even have a inch of smarts or progression because with smarts you have normal human interactions and you are not just blaring out random things and with progression you learn and adapt from where you began. That is what makes a character likable.

They also know not only how to help lead learn from others don't care if it's a teammate or someone they respect but they become better because of it they also know how to show that same quality to make others better an stronger So again you covered alot of my favorites there from red an down to every color . However I also think the best rangers are also those who willing lay down their lives or go into dangerous life or death situations to not only help their friends but also save others So you covered alot of my favorites there as well. So again alot of my favorite rangers made the list. Do feel like rangers we got some Mighty Morphin's that fit the list Got somemore In space or should I say turbo rangers but not leaving Zane an Andros off my list seeing some ninja storms doe Cam I say is probably the best in there saga. Still alot of rangers I see that pretty much make my list an I can list more sagas or series with them. But again you covered alot of them that I have on my list.

If Kimberly leading the team vs. Goldar isn't on here, I'm too old. Although, when you say suggest even Rangers who don't grow constantly need to be at least tested, I also couldn't help but think of... Jason. I don't know how much I buy that "Eric changes for the better" idea. I think he just got it through his thick skull to respect and keep Wes as a friend--which is all on Wes! (I also don't get the underdog theme of him. I think he's just overly ambitious.)

Jason was definitely tested a lot, I just wish they would have explored things more with him and how he dealt with the burdens he was under

I don't know if this was a personal choice to set you aside from other channels, but I would appreciate it if you had numbers like in the corner so we don't need to mentally track which rank it is

only gonna focus on the first six rangers, but for my picks, it would be Dino Charge BUT instead of Sledge, it would be a real Lothor from Ninja Storm. He succeeded in destroying two Ninja Academy and claiming the powers of his foes. Trying to claim the dino gems would be just a stepping stone for him. But it wouldn't be easy. Leading the team as both the Red Ranger and Mentor, would none other than Tommy Oliver. Not only would he bridge the gap of all three dino themed rangers, but his knowledge and experience would be a valuable asset to the team. Taking up the mantle of Blue Ranger would have to be Trini Kwan. From her time with the first team of rangers, and her time abroad she'd defiantly pick up the power ranger mantle once again, and given the signs that she is as smart as Billy, her genius would be an asset to the team as she built their morphers and gadgets to help them beat back the forces of Lothor. Dustin, from Ninja Storm, would be happy to join the team, having dealt with Lothor before. between his knowledge of their enemy and his ability to put everyone around him at ease, he would be a great fit for the Green ranger mantle. Plus his ninja abilities would be useful in the more dangerous fights that he and the team would face. Returning as the Pink ranger is Vida, from Mystic Force. Her heart for both the team and their enemies would keep the others grounded and would help remind them the real reason they've been called together. For Black Ranger slot, I have to give it to Tyler from Dino Charge. As the youngest member of the team, he would do whatever it took to show them he could be a valuable team member. But his immaturity would kind of push others away at first. It would be Dustin and Trini that would help him come to realize that he while the others may be harsher on him at times, it's because they have faith in him to be a good ranger and that he doesn't need to prove himself to the other members. And for the final slot as the sixth ranger, I think Gemma from R.P.M. would make a good balancer, as she would come in a little more serious having to be by herself, but every now and then the childlike wonder of hers would come out and she'd enjoy moments with Dustin and Tyler, reminding the others that saving the world doesn't mean they can lose their laughter

1. My favorite Power Rangers characters would be Tommy Oliver, Trent, Kira, Casey, Doggie Kruger, Billy (movie version). 2. Have you ever heard of Tim Haines? He's the executive producer of Walking with Dinosaurs and Primeval. What if we get him for a Power Rangers season or two? 3. I'm writing a draft for a British spin-off of Power Rangers. The theme that I deem most appropriate for this is getting to know what a Ranger is and what it means to be one. 4. Would you like to hear more about 3?

Issac Alleyne My pitch for a Power Rangers series: An American exchange student, Ryan Reacher, attends college in London, where he moves in with his classmate and close friend, Hector. One day, Hector receives a mysterious book and decided to hand it to Ryan as a gift. In the book, Ryan writes about what he knows about the Power Rangers (him being a civilian), and his desire to become one himself. Next thing he knew, his wish was granted by the book. As soon as his new suit comes on, he learns that this must be possible for a reason. Soon, Hector learns of Ryan's discovery, and decides to join him. Then, came Sophie, Hector's girlfriend. Then Lauren comes, a former Ranger herself. There's a LOT MORE information on this story, I'm just not able to write it all down. Let me know if you want more.

My favorite Rangers by color: Red: Carter Grayson Blue: Flynn McAllister Green: Tommy Oliver Black: Dillon Yellow: Maya Pink: Katherine Hillard To explain each would be too long so I'll just say that all of them really appeal to me for certain actions they take in the series or specific moments they have. Every ranger is worthy of praise even if I didn't like the season, but these are the ones who stood out for me.
