I might actually fully replicate this. This looks really fun and I personally prefer this one over the previous overhaul that uses Inpa Sekiro, as I find it too... annoying, for the lack of a better word. Amazing video as always, Syn!
@@devildj6369 I do not know for certain bro, but I've also been trying to figure this out. What I think is that these effects are a result from the "FNENB" particle effects. The hyper bright high-fantasy FNENB, is not worth it though, only for the particle effects. What I did to get better particle effects is use other ENB and lighting mods coupled with BethINI (particle set : 10000) Hope it helps.
I haven't played skyrim since about 2018 or so. It's crazy to soo just how far modding has come since then! It feels like skyrim in 2023 is less a game and more an very high-level engine for modders to make games with.
Uh I'm so lazy, I really wish someone would just make an entire collection for a complete combat overhaul. I really want this but might not have the stomach to mod skyrim again. Great video though
Only thing I'd like to point out is that if you're trying to mimic Elden Ring or Dark Souls dual wield you will want to remove the dual wield block/parry. No power-stanced weapons are capable of blocking, and only a very small handful of them are capable of parrying. Aside from that it's a very nice set up and I *really* hope ES6 takes a look at these sorts of combat mechanics, as well as taking the time to properly polish them this time around
So I saw this video a few weeks ago and was inspired to put together my own version of the perfect combat mod setup. Below, I list what I found to create the smoothest and most modern experience possible, while trying to keep everything that makes Skyrim... Skyrim: Hopefully you see this short guide and give this setup a try. Let me know how you like it or need more clarification, and keep up the good work! The Essentials: (generally follows proper load order) 1. Ultimate Combat ->(A classic base combat mod) 2. MBO + JBO + TDM ->(general movement) 3. ADXP(or SkySA) + DMCO(and/or TUDM) ->(combat movement/dodge) 4. (Manually) Delete ALL idle and movement animations from the Dark Souls pack and/or in ADXP ->(for Attack animations ONLY!) 5. Vanargand + Leviathan + Conditional Armor (walk/run/idle + High & Mid Stances ONLY!) ->(Movement & Idle animations) 6. Smooth Random Sprint ->(most realistic sprint animations imao / customizable) 7. Vanguard + Hellblade + Impactful Blocking ->(Block/Bash animations) 8. Zxlice's Backstab & Potions Animations ->(potion and backstab animatons) 9. FPCAO 2.0 Size Matters ->(can't forget first person animations) 10. First Person Parry Animatoins ->(the name says it all) 11. Nemesis Patch (Required: disable Windows Real-time Protection and run MO2 as Administrator!) Controls: Set A/Interact as your dual block key ->(only blocks when weapons are already drawn) Set Dodge as default ->(sprint/sneak button, depending on dodge mod) Set Power Attack as X/Sheath Set Sheath as d-pad ->(or free up a controller button with a custom controlmap.txt ~I use LB~, you don't need a 'Wait' button) Warnings: AMMCO - not compatable ->(actors will walk in place after drawing weapons) Smooth Non-Combat Anim. - not compatable ->(movement animations too slow, looks weirdly off) Other combat mods not listed here - generally not compatable, unless you know otherwise You cannot dodge in first person, but this is counterbalanced by faster attack animations and unlocked movement I use all of these simultaneously also: (highly recommended, some from this vid) (Optional) True HUD (Optional) Smoothcam - Modern Preset (Waxx's Preset) (Optional) Elden Counter ->(for more skill based combat options) (Optional) Vanargand bows/crossbows/sneak(all) (Optional) Simple Dual Sheath ->(best implementation of equipment displays imao) (Optional) Distance Based Combat ->(NPC combo animations ~ I removed all charged attack behaviors) (Optional) Wait Your Turn ->(Actual enemy teamwork behavior) (Optional) Separate Power Attacks for SkySA ->(just cause I like the controls) (Optional) Dual Weild Block & Parry for SkySA ->(for blocking as spellswords also) (Optional) Inpa Sekiro Combat ->(General stamina management & smart Enemy AI) (Optional) Wildcat Combat ->(Bow stamina only / load BEFORE Sekiro to avoid AI conflicts!) (Optional) Stamina Matters ->(Attack & Jump stamina) (Optional) Darksouls Movement and Stamina Regen ->(for stamina regen / load last!) (Optional) Frost Stamina Damage Nullifier ->(prevents frost from being too OP) (Optional) Elder Souls Sweep Attacks ->(better hit reg) (Optional) Mortal Enemies ->(For no NPC aim bot) (Optional) Realistic Humanoid Movement Speed ->(best movement speed mod imao) (Optional) Armor Rating Redux ->(fixes the broken armor system) (Optional) Souls Menu RE ->(softlocks sweetroll spam) I have found this full setup to result in an extremely smooth and challenging combat experience in both 3rd and 1st person, with NPCs that will often surprise you with their damage output and long combos. Every animation flows together almost seamlessly (player quickly repositions greatweapons for the attack animation) when you follow the steps above. I can confirm that everything is compatable (patches available for Inpa Sekiro) and functions flawlessly, even on a heavily modded setup ~750 mods.
I would very much like a guide at how to set up all these mods. I know how to install the mods (vortex makes it pretty straightforward) but that's the easy part, configuring them is troublesome. edit: I got it (and more) working but it seems other people would like it as well.
Same. I got it all working for a minute and then realized I missed a part of the mod for TK dodge(because I realized I couldn't dodge roll) and then it messed up the entire order and now game won't even boot. Does someone have a load order, or manage rules list in Vortex to get this all together?
@@guts2630 I followed advice I have found online, though I never really managed to make work the more cooler animations, and at some point I got afraid I wouldd break the game shoul I kept testing over. I go with SKSE 64 data first, then I unmark the UI 'coz I like the original better, but should go here if you use it, then Nemesis Behavior, the Adress Library for SKSE Plugins, then Skyrim Platform 2.6 for AE, then the three (SGC) SkySAs: Combat Behavior Compulsion, First Person View SSE, and Intense Combat. Then JH Combat Animation Pack (which is prolly not working for me, as I don't see any changes), then Disable Recoil, then TUDM Reborn BSA-ESP, then TUDM Reborn Loose Files, then Animation Motion Revolution (which matbe a source of conflict, I don't know), then DynamicAnimationReplacer v1.1.2 for SkyrimAE, then True Directional Movement (AE). I don't use any textures or model changes because my computer is old, but I understand they should go after the movement changes. I'm not entirelly sure what's working and what's not for me, but I get what I wanted most: inteligent enemies, and more fluid combos then the vanilla combat.
@@RafaelValore I really hope you find a solution but if you didn't, I think I know your problem, is dynamic animation replacer doesn't work on Skyrim AE, the solution is to use the Skyrim downgraded in its best of both worlds if you want to keep the CC content that AE provides

MCO is already released on SkyrimGuild. It´s the next generation of SkySA. Combine it with SCAR and Precision (currently only on patreon) and your combat setup is completly insane.

At this point just play Elden Ring lmao. But fr I'm currently downloading all the mods you showed in this video. I can't wait to play them it looks incredible.
Elden rim has been my only problem so far with modding , CTD with all combinations of versions but fine soon as it's disabled and nemesis detects no problems or other conflicts . Everything else works perfectly and this was a great reference point for improving the game vastly .
Just booted up skyrim on xbox for the first time In like a year and I'm having trouble accepting how many of these mods are now implemented on console. not nearly as smooth as pc, but still enough to drastically change the game.

Going to try and replicate this completely, relatively new to modding skyrim as i only started 2 days ago, but ive learned fairly quickly. looking through nemesis has been the only issue ive had so far, will update this later if i can get all the mods working properly and as intended!
The first thing I want to say is that your editing skills and video production quality are out of this world. I hit that subscribe and like button within the first ten seconds. Secondly I want to say thank you for this video in particular. I am about a week into modding my Skyrim for a true dark Nordic/Viking feeling, the way I have always felt a place like Skyrim should feel. I have been able to find almost everything but I was struggling to put together a combat system that felt like it has weight to it and is more visceral. Your set up here though hits all those wants and more. With these mods I think I am ready to sit down and really immerse myself back into the cold lands of Skyrim.

The only other thing I would’ve liked to see is this style of combat vs a dragon. I really love the look and feel of this but the slow strafing movement gives me the feeling that you’d be a sitting duck against dragon breath attacks
we'd love a Load Order or even a screen shot of what your list looks like. When I went to install this I had to jump through so many hoops I'm not sure I ended up in the same country as you. My game and your video are so vastly different, and combat is not as smooth as it's shown. I started with a fresh install of Skyrim Special Edition, Vortex, and SKSE
This is a great showcase! Just in time for my own modded playthrough What armor and weapon mods did you use during Hellblade - Timed Block and Elder Souls - Sweep Attacks? they're both beautiful!
One of the downside I personally find in the combat of skyrim is that 80% of the fight is indoor, caves, tunnels, small corridors, etc. Which makes it impossible to fight with the flashy animation. Not to mention if you play on master like me, the enemies hit VERY hard so you have to compensate with attack speed which skysa limited you for the sake of realism. My solution: I don't use skysa but instead I use some custom vanilla animation toghether with no skating + everything syn mention for a more "fair" gameplay
@@zarael_ I agree that the CGO is quite the stuff for vanilla combat however the sheer AMOUNT of mods that are incompatible with CGO is just insane so I gave up on CGO like 2 years ago

*Realizes that 90% of their attacks take place outside of the circle of the fighting in this video* I used SkySA and was extremely frustrated at the inability to move. I like to play fast slashing attacks and ranged combat. I'm happy this exists for those who want to stand there and get hit, but I'm not going back to being pinned down after uninstalling SkySA. [Another great video btw, go into film making!]
All of these combined look like a mix between For Honor and Dark Souls, I could never get into Skyrim because the combat felt extremely clunky, but I might try some of these mods and see if they make it better.
I'm a veteran skyrim modder, everytime i reach the "Combat overhaul" part of my skyrim i start to get some minor CTDs, along with the IA improvements. Could you do an video showing how to make Skyrim NPCs feel more alive, there are a lot of mods about that topic, wanted to know a way to do it without those CTDs. BTW, good video as always ;)
Elden Counter is an okay pick, but in my personal opinion becomes redundant with zxlice Parry & Hellblade. It's all about personal preference at the end of the day, and I prefer zxlice's real time finisher / heavy damaging hit after successful parry.
Elder Scroll Online could be the best MMO ever if it had a combat system like this. And your video shows that it's possible. Now i want to play Skyrim again. several years later... Good video.

i think that the new attack mco mod from skyrimguild is better than skysa, but thats mostly because its newer and you can also convert skysa stuff to it so i think its better overall
