Reason you're a bible review boss #1: You pointed out a negative feature that would shoo most away from purchasing, but in a more positive perspective. Not a negative opinion... You showed ways to get past the negative part of the bible and make it very useful. I love that! Happy New Year!!!!

I love the idea of this Bible having the promises in it vs in a separate book but the lack of quality printing makes it a no for me because I don’t think my eyes could take the ghosting. Thank you for pointing it out without being rude or negative like others do. This is what makes you my favorite reviewer on RU-vid. You’re honest and professional ❤️ 🌸

I have had a few Barbour published Bibles and I have never been impressed by any of them. They could do so much better without adding much to the price. Great review though!

I agree completely! To have the content of this one in a better text block with line matching and better paper it would be worth the price but the print quality is just not good. And publishers like Thomas Nelson have proven that even a $20 Bible can have a great text block so there’s no excuse for it because we know it can be done because we see it time and time again with Nelson’s new releases. Barbour really needs to step it up if they want to seek Bibles that won’t be returned. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. I appreciate it 😊

Ugh 😩 that ghosting. Why don’t they figure out how to line match or use better paper. The promises sound great but the ghosting would be a huge distraction for me. Thank you for pointing out the negative aspects in a polite and professional manner instead of saying it’s garbage like someone else likes to say. God’s word is never garbage.

Nice, unique features with the Bible promises and good layout, plus it appears to be a nice size for carry being that it’s on the thinner side. Way to go, giving solid suggestions for improvement!

It does offer some nice features and if it was redone with better quality print & paper it would be worth getting but I think the ghosting is going to be the downfall of this one which is a shame because there was so much potential with it. The ghosting is terrible. I think it would have been such a better Bible if it had better paper. The marginal continents is good and I would have loved this in another translation like the NKJV, but since it Barbour, I think the only other yransl8tjey do is NLT. Good concept, but poor execution in terms of the paper. Great review though. Thanks for sharing.

I completely agree with you! The idea is fantastic but it was poorly executed and the ghosting will be the downfall of this Bible because it’s hard on the eyes. Thumbs up for the reviewer. Meh for the Bible! I don't want to have to constantly slip a sheet of black paper behind every page I read. And underlining and highlighting wouldn't work at all in this one. To my eye, the font is also too small for me. I wouldn't mind paying a bit more for better paper and line matching. It's a gift able price, but unfortunately not decent enough to give. The cover is pretty though! :)

I completely agree with you and that’s one of the reasons I still have it and that’s because it’s not nice enough to gift because if I give someone a Bible I want them to want to read it and this one would not do that. I agree, it's a great Bible! I know who I'd give one to, as well (she doesn't seem to need the pronunciation help). But that ghosting is atrocious. Is there a "Bible Promise Book" in a different version that doesn't have that awful ghosting?

The only ones I’ve seen are ones done by this same publisher which I’d be hesitant to try after having this one. As I go through various promises I’ll probably end up noting them into a wide margin Bible. But it’s such a shame that this one wasn’t done using better paper and print because the concept of it is great but it’s just hard to read. I’ll only read the margin info because the Biblical text is too distracting. The paperback editions may have regular book paper but I’m not sure since I haven’t seen them in person but there’s a lot of them on eBay. But I wanted to show this one so that people are aware of the issues so that they don’t buy one and end up being surprised with the ghosting. Christianbook does sell little paperback Bible promise books that are just like a thin paperback and that could be used alongside a Bible but the combination of two in one is what I was hoping for with this one so I just end up using the black paper trick when I do use it. I like Barbour publishing and own a few of their Bibles, only thing is the thin pages like you mentioned can be distracting, I only use color pencils for highlighting, pens and regular highlighters ruins the pages. Great video thank you for the review God Bless.

With the technology we have ghosting shouldn’t be an issue yet here it is 😞 why would they not try to improve their quality? The paper trick works well because I have a lockman Bible I have to do that with but this one looks even worse. Good job on being polite about mentioning the flaws. No need to beat them over the head with it but it needed to be mentioned and you did that like a pro. Well done BBC, well done 👍🏻

Yes there is no reason to produce a Bible with this level of ghosting, how it didn’t get noticed is beyond me because I think most people would open it and that’d be the first thing they’d notice. Aside from that I love the concept of this one but would love to see it in a nicer done text block. Thank you for watching and commenting

Would you recommend this KJV Bible or the Thomas Nelson KJV Study Bible? Or both?

The Thomas Nelson one is a much better Bible and the readability is great on that one. This one has good content but the ghosting is a huge distraction. I only use this one for the margin content and not the Bible text because it’s hard on my eyes. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it 😊

It does look like it has some great features, just not the nicest paper quality. I love the layout it has though, and the cover and ribbon look great too. I think your black paper trick is an awesome idea, and looks like it helps tremendously. Have a blessed day my friend!

A very nice bible. I have the women's KJV Study Bible but I won't be buying the promise bible. The quality of the paper is horrible.

Yes it’s a shame that their Bibles have inferior paper and print. They need to do something differently if they want to be competitive in the Bible market. Thomas Nelson has proven that an affordable Bible can also have great quality so Barbour should take note and see if they can make changes. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate it.

Exactly! 😂 that made me laugh. Better quality paper and print would make this a great Bible because the content is really good but it doesn’t do any good if it’s not readable.
