I want to scream YES, YES, YES, to your guest today. I am a power wheelchair user from a spinal cord tumor at the base of the brain stem. The chronic pain I was left in is far worse than my disability. But, yes, God's will not mine! I have been healed from being a complete quadriplegic on a respirator, and I will be healed completely when I go to heaven. My job is to joyfully live for Jesus and reflect His glory in the way I live. Pointing people to Him and sharing truth with everyone. God is good in all things. This crucible prepared me to have my husband of 46 years leave me for his transition to heaven 18 months ago. Jesus has carried me through every day. He is forever faithful!!!

Thank you for this episode! I watched with my 19yo daughter who also has Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, and watching Rebekah talk was like watching an older version of my daughter. I’m so encouraged by their mindsets and the way they have their focus on eternity. This was very encouraging to my daughter to confirm what she already knows to be true and to encourage her in keeping her path. She also has had “declaratory prayers” randomly spoken over her - to the extent of someone asking her pain level before and after their prayer. Dealing with friends with a prosperity gospel mindset is a frustrating thing to face. Thank you for the encouragement in prayer and reliance on God!

On the bit about prayer, I liked that it was an act of obedience - but also God is outside of time. So your prayers have been heard and known since the beginning of time.

Alisa, when you said I’m afraid to pray the “whatever it takes” prayer resonates so much. I have an amazing husband who is a non-believer but im afraid to say “please do whatever it takes for him to come to you.” I feel guilty and faithless about it but what you said was true and helped me feel not alone

I have to write again because I really resonate with the people praying healing over me every week and then wondering why I’m not better the next week! It was so infuriating because I could accept (more on some days than others) that God had willed our family to walk through the chronic illness fire. He was working his perfect will through our weaknesses. He was using our family as a testimony to others, Christian’s and medical personnel and others going through similar issues. And we are honored to be instruments of His purpose, but His grace we place our hope in Jesus! Thank you!!

Yeah, I'm one of those people who believes God still heals today. And yes, to me this broadcast is a disappointment. I couldn't even listen to the whole thing because it was too discouraging. I certainly won't be buying a book about how to enjoy your gift of disability because someday you'll be dead and then you can be happy.

I have talked to someone like myself that has physical problems that don't show. We felt that it is an advantage to have a disability that shows. No one sees the pain that we are in and expects us to be like a normal person and expects the same amount of effort.

When sharing Christ with others... it's good to keep these 3 things in mind... 1. If Christ dwells within us, we are sharing Him just by BEING with people. Building rapport. Keeping commitments. Building trust. We can't SHARE the Word if we can't KEEP our word. 2. Keep in mind that WE don't do the convincing, changing, and transforming. The Holy Spirit does. We are called to be OBEDIENT... He does the convincing. 3. Don't get discouraged if you don't get to witness the person accept Christ. Imagine having a package of seeds and taking all the steps to turn them into a beautiful garden. There are countless steps involved. In one person's life, God may have 1,000 people be part of the process. You might plant the seed, or water it, pull weeds, or help prune and harvest. Your role in someone accepting Christ might be smiling at them in the grocery store and they (even subconsciously) notice the scripture on your shirt. Or... your role might be answering hard questions, sharing the gospel, or even "just" living a life that models the life of a follower. We are not typically going to be THE person in someone's life to plant, water, weed, prune, and harvest.

My daughter and I have Ehlers Danlos, and some other diseases, I’ve had over 15 surgeries and chronic pain. I have also grieved the loss of my “normal life”. More than that I’ve had to see my daughter suffer with some of the most severe elements of this and other issues. Without Jesus, and being able to lean on Him, I’d be lost. I firmly believe he allows this so I would slow down from my 120% in everything from raising and homeschooling four kids to ministry, etc…..to just slow down and spend time with God, and use it as a testimony, and of course disciple my kids. There’s so much more nuance than I could share here……thank you for this wonderful conversation, affirmation and continually helping me to think critically, and pointing me to God.

The testimony is very heart warming. My New Year’s resolution hasn’t been broken - take one day at a time. “Thy will be done.” I love the way this video is PRO LIFE. This is the stamp , the mark of authenticity, counter cultural narrative - no prosperity gospel , what a relief ! Saint Paul was scourged , shipwrecked, full stomach, empty stomach- hated to the extent that the Jewish leaders decided not to eat or drink until he was dead. Paul was a success story in reverse - this may be the cost of following the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus never said we will all ‘feel good ‘ all of the time. Our emotions can feel sky high and euphoric sometimes, at other times in the depth of depression and despair- we have to treat both with caution. Christians who have suffered much have precious gifts to impart - that’s what they have taught me. Their faith has been tested by fire , as in a crucible, and their heart is pure.

God absolutely responds to our prayers. Examples all over the OT especially, Moses is a really good example how God notifies him destruction is coming, but when Moses intercedes God changes His response. God definitely didn't "learn" anything. He knew Moses completely, and by telling Moses the coming consequences He absolutely knew Moses would intercede. I believe had Moses not interceded then God would have let His wrath come to Israel, as He is not a liar, but He knew Moses would intercede. From the beginning of human creation God put us in working relationship with Himself, giving us dominions and jobs that He could have done Himself (like naming the animals for example), but He chose to allow us to come alongside Him, to work with Him, to have a relationship with Him. He doesn't determine our actions, but He definitely interacts to help influence our actions and choices. We have to choose life or death. We have to choose humility or pride. That's God's gift to us as part of being made in His image. Those who declare that God determines all things including evil have to contend with God's own words in Jeremiah and Ezekiel: - Regarding the sins of Israel, "which I [God] did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind" (Jer 19:5b) - God clearly states here that He does not determine evil - "As I live, declares the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live" (Ezek 33:11a) - If God determines people not to turn from sin for His glory then He would be a liar in saying that the resulting death is not pleasurable to Him. How can something unpleasurable for God be something He determines for His glory? It's as if He's saying "yes, yes" and "no, no" at the same time which is considered a fleshly response according to 2 Cor 1:17

Putting timers and conditions is not a prayer, nor is getting all the demands in this life the best outcome. Nor is the purpose of life the accumulation of wealth, all will turn into worthless dust, how valuable is all that? A good deed like a good investment having has no maturity and keeps giving is far better than a worldly investment turning into dust holding no value. Mark 8:36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Holy Quran 18:45 And give them a parable of this worldly life. ˹It is˺ like the plants of the earth, thriving when sustained by the rain We send down from the sky. Then they ˹soon˺ turn into chaff scattered by the wind. And Allah is fully capable of ˹doing˺ all things. Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Holy Quran 10:58 Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “In Allah’s grace and mercy let them rejoice. That is far better than whatever ˹wealth˺ they amass.”

OK, I am somebody who 100% believes in God’s perfect, good will. His sovereignty and his love is my comfort. But I definitely think it’s OK to keep asking… for healing, for people to come to Christ-knowing that thy will be done… I do see Christ at the end of his life here on earth asking three times to have something taken from him, but not his will God will be done! There is a tension. I think I have found a place where I feel just fine asking continually for healing for other people, and even in ourselves for some things, but then at the end saying, ‘but YOUR perfect will be done’, and being surrendered to whatever that is!

Hello Alisa, I am a regular watching your videos. This one is not the best. I'd love to get into some conversation with you about it. The guest is doing a lot of pop theology and armchair philosophy without any scholarly lens or biblical grounding. Just one example: In the Lord's prayer, we are not simply praying "They will be done" as if resigning one's self to one's fate. We are asking that we would see the heavenly kingdom, where God's will of volition is taking place, be manifested in our world, where God's will of volition is not taking place. One day, we will see God's will of volition take place on earth, and that includes healing from every ailment. In the meantime, we are interceding that such healing would be present on earth now, in ever-growing measure, even before the Lord's second appearing when he will make all things right. There is a lot more I could say, and a paper I'd like to share, but that is all too much for a RU-vid comment. Oh, and one more quick thing in the way of suggestion: (I'm at twenty minutes through), while that lady who prayed on the spot with Rebekah may have had a faulty view of prayer, I do favor the idea of praying with someone on the spot when they present a prayer request, rather than trying to put it on a list and then pray through a list later on. I do see how if we just say we'll pray, we are likely to forget and not pray. But the idea of putting it on a list is not the only way to conquer that. Praying in person, whether aloud or silently, before moving on with the day, ... I think that's a better way. But that's just my preference; there's nothing particularly unbiblical about having a list and praying later. I have found that praying with people right there and then, is often a way of discipling others and being discipled. We practice our faith together and in community, learning from one another and teaching one another, encouraging one another, building one another up, etc. And sometimes it is a discipleship step for unbelievers as well - the unbeliever who is prayed for, or the unbelievers who are watching. But never should we set prayer up as a magic act where we're going to say the magic words and see how "it works".

Jesus was the perfect expression of the Father. He never turned anyone away who came to him with faith for healing. But he was limited in the number of miracles by the unbelief in Nazareth. The prayer for God’s will to be done is a prayer for God’s kingdom and Lordship to be on the earth-Jesus was not praying for a specific need. When the will of God is known from scripture, there is no need to add, “if it be your will.” When I am praying for unbelievers to be saved, I never pray, “if it be your will” because we already know God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. We also already know the will of God concerning healing. (James 5:14-15, Psalm 103:2-3) Therefore, we continue to seek it.

Praying "thy will be done" may seem like a humble prayer of knowing one's relationship to a god who has all sovereignty over every aspect of your life, but it really just sees to boil down to praying "God, go ahead and do whatever you want to do even though, suppressed deep down, I'd like things to be different". If praying this prayer is what helps you get through hardship and enables you to to build resilience and see how all of life give us new opportunities for our circumstances, by all means, keep using the prayer hack, but I "pray" you may someday realize it's you doing the work, not some god.

For starters, Childers is an infernalist, ECT, adherent. During Christianity’s first almost 500 years the dominant view was apokatastasis, aka Universal Reconciliation. Early Christianity historian Ilaria Ramelli wrote an excellent book on it (among many other scholars). Childers can SAY whatever she likes, however the facts would say otherwise.
