"Even without the events of 40 years ago, I think man would still be a creature that fears the dark. He doesn't face that fear, he averts his eyes from it and acts as if he doesn't have any memories of his past. But, 40 years is both a short time and yet, a long time. Man's fear has withered. And even time itself tries to wither the desire to know the truth. Is it a crime to try and learn the truth? Is it a sin to search for those things which you fear. My purpose in this world is knowledge, and the dissemination of it. And it is I who is to restore the fruits of my labor to the entire world. Fear... It is something vital to us puny creatures. The instant man stop fearing is the instant the species reaches a dead end, only to sink to pitable lows, only to sit and wait apathetically for extinction. Humans who lose the ability to think become creatures whose existence has no value. Wake up! Don't be afraid of knowledge! Think, you humans who are split into two worlds, unless you want the gulf between humans to expand into oblivion, you must think!" Signed Schwarzwald
One of the best English Dubs out there for a monologue. I know people trash on Eng Dubs. But the voice actor for Schwarzwald really nailed this speech.
@@ObsidianHawk Most English dubs are absolute shit, no thought put into matching voice to characterization and passion. But Schwarzwald was PERFECT. He sounded like the crazed enlightened zealot he was. The philosopher who flew too close to the sun and dreamed of a world that burned in the light he found there.
@@artsyfartsyworld6848 I'd wager that Schwarzwald had the greatest fourth-wall break in all of media (Except for the "Then Why We Can't Afford No Ceiling." Joke.)
"Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we are gone and wonder who we were, how bravely we fought, how fiercely we loved?" -Odysseus
Hmm more has the vibe of "no, you are fucked. There's nothing you can do, it's over, it already happened, the most you can do is pick up the pieces of your now miserable life and try and survive just another day. You've lost. GOOD DAY SIR!"
This is such a powerful song, and absolutely my favorite of the Big O series. Such amazing quality and orchestrative design. It sends chills down my spine and is incredibly dynamic and striking to my emotions. Truly splendid. I listen to it often.
IS THAT?! SUPPOSE TO BE MY MORNING ALARM?!! THE KNOWLEDGE??!! War is peace! Freedom is Slavery! Ignorance IS!! STRENGTH!!!! *cast in the name of god... ye not.*
"You! You possess the foolishness of BOTH man and machine. It chooses one who controls the power of God created by Man, one who is able to arrive at one truth. That's not the case with you!"
Now this is what I'm talking about. The extended version of "Stoning" composed by Toshihiko Sahashi performed by a Japan Symphony Orchestra, a real symphonic masterpiece. This is why I also love watching The Big O anime TV series. I just love this extended version even more!
He looks like a twisted Digimon. but still badass, it's just because of his chara' design i started to watch the anime. vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/digimon/images/9/90/Mummymon_t.gif/revision/latest?cb=20110821071417
Don't you see the truth is the most dangerous word. It is nothing more than a mere illusion. Each casts thier own....each believes it more than everything. Where the danger comes from is when one is confronted with another's truth. To them it is the holiest of holies....to you it is the deepest hersey that needs to be expunged at all costs.
I saw an ad on this vid today. Something along the lines of, "Do you love letting the music take control?" And it was for a Carnival Cruise advertisement. *Boi, you have no idea the can of worms you've just unintentionally opened.*
Schwarzwald, as well as Alan Gabriel's Voice Actors in the English dub is actually much more fitting and sounds much more crazier than their Japanese variant.
oh ya if you avert your eyes (insight) from the eldritch truth the game is easier but if you see things as they really are it becomes harder and you can see all the great ones. (at lest before you kill that spider thing.)
@@LockCard And ultimately, the 'best' ending is to become something so removed from human that they would avert their eyes from you, as you once did from the things you killed. Fun twist that.
Schwarzwald is definitely the Joker of Big O. It's essentially Batman but with giant robots and weird existential philosophy rather than simple comic book good guy fighting comic book bad guy.
@@sirmount2636 The creator of the series has said that it's heavily inspired by Batman, particularly The Animated Series. Sunrise, the production company that animated Big O, actually animated some of Batman: The Animated Series as a subcontractor for Warner Bros. before working on Big O.
While the show was influence heavily by batman the Animated series even having the same animation studio you do Schwarzwald a great disservice by comparing him to the Joker. The Joker is a chaotic force whose goals and motivations change from day to day and on a whim. One day he might be a silly goofy clown that wants to steal the worlds biggest whoppie cushion and the next day a mad man hellbent on breaking Batman and destroying the crusaders ideals. Schwarzwald on the other hand may be a bit unpredictable but his goals are clear he himself has said it. His purpose is knowledge and the dissemination of it. His methods are extreme but his goals are noble. He wants to break the shackles Paradigm Corp has place on it's people. He wants people to learn the truth he is a curious man whose sole motivation is fining out the truth. He is more of a detective than Roger, who only sees himself as a negotiator. Schwarzwald wants nothing more than to learn the truth and enlighten the people who so carelessly and cowardly try to ignore and hide from it. Schwarzwald has no equal in Batman for his goals are way too different from a traditional "bad guy" if he went about it a different way his goals would seem even righteous. If there is a character you can say is similar to the clown prince of crime in the show that would be Alan Gabriel a wild card who cares not for any goal or motivation as long as he gets to have his fun.
I see. If it is my fate to fall by your blade, the so be it.... Worthy Opponent. "Time tha' Fuck out. If we're doin' this, 'Nd we ARE Doin' this, I'm not gonna come swinging at Dracula... I'm Killin' Alucard!" You...do know it's just my name spelled backwards right? "O'course I do! Now Shut Up An' Bring 'Em Out!"
I dont know. Hhe did wake up some of those ancient mecha Deus' and used Dorothy for it. I know he had good intentions and wanted people to wake up, but it was a bit maniacal. I know it's like ' the empire did nothing wrong' joke, but all things considered its kinda fuzzy considering the whole Big O universe is a simulation and they were all players in a sort of elaborate game.
"Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villian by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. (he carves a "V" into a sign) The only verdict is vengence; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. (giggles) Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and you may call me V"
Would this sound like something he would say? Fear. It is what drives us humans. Be it forward, or more commonly into the false of security. Foolish creatures who have lost the capacity to move forward, I Schwarzwald will the seek the truth you have forgotten.
