Ragnarok obviously had Taika Waititi’s style of humor all over it, but I could tell they reined him in when necessary (with the exception of that moment you mentioned). However, it’s easy to see this time around that thanks to Taika winning his Oscar for Jojo Rabbit, Marvel basically let him go whole hog on this one, that they basically let him go *full Taika* if you will (which I have no problem with, personally 😉). His sense of humor isn’t for everyone, obviously, and I found that one’s overall enjoyment of this film all comes down to whether you are completely on board with his style or not. *I* personally am, and I enjoyed the film overall, but I understand some of the criticisms it’s been getting. I still liked it a lot, but I totally get all the points that you make here.

Another issue I found is that it came out when majority of fans are suffering from marvel fatigue. With all of these different series and films coming out, many are struggling and getting tired to keep up. Also after films such as infinity war, endgame and nwh, many expect marvel to be at that level all the time and when they are working on so many projects at the same time its difficult for marvel to create coherent stories. Even though Star Wars has got multiple projects coming out soon, they’re still spread out enough so people can digest and want more.

Like Black Widow, I personally felt that Thor: Love and Thunder was fairly good but mildly disappointing. It had a lot of stuff I really liked (e.g. Jane's arc) but the rushed pacing and forced comedy really dragged it down. Honestly, at this point, the Disney+ shows have been much more consistently enjoyable for me than the rocky, inconsistent slate of Phase 4 films we've been getting, even though I absolutely loved Spider-Man: No Way Home and really enjoyed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings

The biggest problem is all the immediate online spoilers on facebook that I’ve had to dodge because I haven’t had the time to see it yet :(

I'm personally kinda done with the MCU now as they have really been dropping the ball in one respect or another; whether it be the writing, the comedy, the effects (oh, Dear Lord, the visual effects...) or the stories themselves.

The Marvel situation now feels like the "if you wanna test a man's mettle, give him power" scenario. From Iron Man to Endgame, they had to try and really win over the audience. Now that they've done that (and made all that money), they've become complacent and are now kinda like "just release it. The audience will eat it cos it's Marvel" I appreciate that people do seem to be standing up to it though.

Gor was the best part imo wish there was more of him. I'm super glad a villain was directed so well. Gor was probably the best mcu villain I think

I'm definitely disappointing despite good performances and visuals but I gotta say I really hope they release the longer cut like how can you have goldblum,dinklage and headey and cut them insane.Hope their more of the serious Portman stuff they literally skip over her turning Into Thor she just shows ups easily one of weird scene transition I've seen in a mainstream movie.

Got what I wanted tbh, didn't expect anything amazing so didn't take it seriously and still didn't get invested. Fun shitpost movie is the best way to enjoy. Also loved the weapons being personalised.

After reading interviews with directors of the past movies in phase 4, i feel like marvel just doesn't want to go dark at least in the movies. They kinda downplayed how awful Gorr's life was and how brutal he was. Just like how they downplayed the horror in doctor strange 2 after it was announced it was going to be marvels first horror movie. It almost feels like they realized the kids that used to watch marvel have grown up and they don't really want the movies grow up with them.

The joke problem really started somewhere around iron man 3 and Avengers: Age of Ultron when Isaac Perlmutter was removed from the movies and demoted to marvel tv like agents of shield and the Netflix shows he didn’t take the demotion well from what I have heard that’s why there was next to no acknowledgment of the movies in the shows cause phase 1 when Isaac Perlmutter was still there had a better tone to the movies and i have seen most of phase 1 I just haven’t seen the hulk and I understand Isaac Perlmutter isn’t a great what has come out but it’s evident he understood the characters better then Kevin Feige does cause in my opinion it feels like Kevin Feige is more concerned about keeping kids watching these movies instead of being for comic book readers and people who know these characters it’s why I get more excited for the dc movies cause the humor action and seriousness is better balanced cause they are still willing to let a movie be nearly 3 hour long if it needs to be like the Batman is for example my all time favorite movie is Batman from 1966 and despite the movie being drenched in kampyness it has a better balance of tone then phase 2 onwards of the mcu has cause if feels like plot is taking a backseat to humor and action sequences

Personally Thor's movie have always been I don't love it, I don't hate it but that's because Thor is a character I never really cared about in the first place. I don't have any preconceived ideas of what a Thor movie should be because even in other fiction outside the MCU they seemingly have never known what to do with Thor. Some times he's an actual god, some times he's a crazy mutant who only thinks he's a god, some times he's a scientist who's given the powers of Thor but isn't the literal Thor himself. And because earlier fiction never had any consistent story line for him I just never cared what the movies did with him. Of course there are other characters who I knew nothing about and ended up loving because of the MCU but Thor still feels average. I don't love him, I don't hate him, he's just sort of there. Anyway... the bigger issue with the MCU is a problem that's existed since End Game... that movie and every property since then can't make up their mind what the rules for Time Travel and the Multiverse are. Literally every time it's brought up, even in the same freaking scene, they keep changing the rules so it's not consistent. Time Travel and Multiverse stories only work when the fiction can actually bother to establish and follow their own freaking rules but if the MCU can't do that every time it's brought up they're just going to be speaking complete nonsense, contradicting themselves and making it impossible to follow the story. Time Travel usually naturally is already confusing anyway because of paradoxes but like the MCU basically said there are no Paradoxes because Multiverse and yet at the same time there are paradoxes because the Multiverse didn't exist but the Multiverse did exist because there are event that clearly take place before the Nexus event that created the multiverse so paradoxes don't exist. Make up your freaking mind MCU how the hell does the Multiverse and time travel actually function.

If u want a something about time travel done way better watch doctor who it has established how time travel works and they actually so the consequences when they actually break the established rules and they actually do try to have the characters try and fix it

The big problem is that they finally made 1 out of 3 Thor movies good and decided to roll the dice again.

I think Taika Watiti just saw the script and thought it wasn't worth the passion put into ragnorak which is a shame. MCU rn just feels like directionless build up for false hype towards another directionless build up. There just isn't that solid world building anymore.

@@JamesMondasian very true. Honestly feel they should have ended it with infinity war. I loved Spider-Man no way home but I think it would have made more sense if they wanted all these new child characters to do a reboot.
@JamesMondasian
@JamesMondasian 2 года назад
@@datboigroovin8200 I think they could've have made the continuation past endgame work but I think they fumbled it when they relied too much on the disney+ shows which clearly have a lower budget and marvel studios themselves clearly can't write for a satisfying series from beginning to end. It feels like all of the disney+ shows should've been films and some of the movies should have been tv shows, e.g. eternals and black widow as there is potential there for fully exploring all of the backstories and characters instead of awkwardly filling it in a format that doesn't work. But it's clear disney wanted the bigger name characters to feature in the shows regardless to get disney+ going
