Sorry guys a inverted spliter on a skid steer is so much easier to use. Why move all that heavy wood to the splitter when you can just drop the splitter over the wood. I do however recognize all your hard work on the splitter. That is a beast.

The splitter is a beast for sure... I have reservations on the hydraulics when retracting the ram & raising or lowering the lifter, the engine appears to bog down considerably to much based on my observations here... Overall it looks like a good build that perhaps could use a couple modifications in hyds. & engine power as time marches on... Thanks for sharing this, Bill... :~)

That’s an 8” cylinder moving 3 feet. That does move fairly quick! We aren’t talking 16” wood

Truly impressive, great job. That said, I see absolutely no need for anymore than 35 commercial tons in a splitter. Your slow cycle time coupled with only a 4× wedge seems inefficient at best, unless of course your someone that opts for 30inch diameter logs or greater which is totally unnecessary..... I've a sweet 35 ton machine with a 5 second cycle time that absolutly blows through everything and I've the option of using any of my 4×, 6× or 12× adjustable wedges.
@joshszydel8202
@joshszydel8202 2 года назад
So do we. Like said in the comments the customer ordered it like this so we built it. We have way faster machines with changeable wedges also. We build what our customers want.

The customer that ordered it has his wife pull levers and he sets the wood on with his grapple trailer. It actually can pile the wood up extremely fast with the right equipment! Thanks for watching!

Flow restrictors are terrible... why not use a larger diameter cylinder with a longer stroke on the log lift to get the speed slowed?
@joshszydel8202
@joshszydel8202 3 года назад
Great question. It all comes down to cost and damage prevention. An intricate balance to keep cost down to meet a customer's budget. As it says in the description this was a custom build for a customer with a budget. Thanks for watching.

who needs 36" stroke? thing needs 8 way wedge and 24" stoke is more than enough for 99% of people who burn wood. everyone I know heats with wood and none would want the giant wedges your machine makes nice try though.

Lol.....I'm glad that you don't need it. We sell a pile of them to customers with outdoor boilers, maple syrup setups, and commercial operations. That unit a women ordered it to split tree service wood for her 60 inch deep commercial Boiler.

never in his life does this splitter make 75 tons, nor 15 real tons and it is very very slow and you are very disorganized at work
@rockhopperdockhopper5261
@rockhopperdockhopper5261 3 года назад
the splitter did very good splitting that big lumps of elm,and it must be making a lot of tons to do what it did. as for being disorganised at work, it is shown as a demonstration as to what the splitter can do with very challenging wood not as an everyday work scenario.
@joshszydel8202
@joshszydel8202 3 года назад
It is in fact 75 ton. As Rockhopper Dockhopper said it was just a demonstration of some nasty wood. Definately not show a firewood production setup.

Lol.There is an ass for every seat. The customer that ordered this uses a grapple trailer to handle the unsplit and split pieces. He has a tree removal service and uses the machine to bust the blocks down to then resplit. It must do exactly what he wants because he ordered another!
