Highly recommend Tig Notaro's web series "Under a Rock". She interviews super famous people, but genuinely has no clue who they are or what they are famous for.
I just turned on the tv and bogus journey was on, about half way through around the part with colonal oates in hell. I watched the rest of the film and i've never seen either of them so it was a super bizarre charming experience bereft of context
36:00 s02 of the anime "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" has eight almost identical episodes in a row known as The Endless Eight. Basically it's a time loop, and tiny details get changed each time, but it's almost entirely the same thing that had to be animated over and over for WHOLE EPISODES. Like, on the one hand, I kind of respect the absurd dedication to a premise, but on the other hand WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?? It's still absolutely baffling to me. It's such an alienating thing to do to your audience for so much expense and so little benefit.
Ayman MIB I can’t actually remember what order I watched cos it was years ago. There’s a few reddit threads with the pros/cons of each viewing order, but as far as the Endless Eight you can watch 1, 2 & 8 and get the same tone/idea without repeating so much if you don’t want. I watched the episode 0 first, I think? Whatever the DVD order was.
Adding on to the Avatar story the original creators wanted to keep it kid-friendly but apparently Netflix wanted to make it more adult with lots of blood, swearing and sex. Yes, taking something that was intended for kids but that adults could get into because it was so charming and likeable and had some hints of maturity and making it all gritty and edgy is a fantatsic idea! It worked SOOOO well for Titans so why wouldn't it work here as well?!
The pills that give you unique powers in that show you talk about (albeit not for 5 minutes) is stolen from One Piece. In One Piece one of the central plot points is character get super powers from eating something called 'Devil Fruit' each devil fruit grants a different unique power. Characters usually do not know which power will come from each fruit.

HOMI I platinumed the first but couldn’t be bothered finishing the sequel. My fault for buying both, but I wanted to see if it got better. The comics on the other hand are WAY better than they have any right to be. That splash panel of Alfred headbutting Clark was one of the best headbutts in comic history, up there with The Boys
What's the point of live action remakes of anime? The anime already exists and is good, just watch it. A live action remake will just be a worse copy of it. It's like that stupid HBO Last of us, they're remaking the first games story. Like why? The game is already cinematic. It's just look-a-likes doing what we've already seen just worse than the original. Just make a new story in the same universe or don't do anything.
I think live action is like the “official” “closest to reality” version of media so that’s what gets some people hyped. But I agree there’s rarely any adaptations as good as the source material

ACTUALLY (always the best way to start a sentence on the internet) cashews are a fruit - of all things - and harvesting them is so complicated that the use of forced labor is not unknown. Probably the 'nut' that's the worst for your health...buuuuut soooo taaasty - so it gets a pass. Just like how attractive people are forgiven anything.
I love these two but they are such old men when discussing the future of comics. Almost all younger comic readers use read webtoons and anime on apps. I'm 24 and I use apps for most of my reading, books are really an investment for those who really care...which is a minority amount.
What I've heard from a source I trust is that the DC layoffs are due to wanting to stop doing so much PC, and pandering content and just making good content. But whether that's true or not we won't know for a while, but it probably is a bit of that, a bit of Covid, a bit of cutting the bottom line.
Not saying you're wrong, but why not just change your editorial direction rather than firing your creatives? It's like cutting off your foot (HUMAN FOOT) rather than just getting corrective shoes...
