This cheered my Irish/American heart. My mother and aunt visited relatives in Ireland in 1971 and they both got to kiss the stone. And let me tell you...they both had the gift of gab in spades! And, not sure...but I think I got a touch of it myself just by being around them:-) It's contagious!

Although I have been to the Blarney Stone I didn't kiss it because I thought it was unsanitary. This was in March 2004.

I remember being there with my dad and the man tried to help me kiss the blarney stone and I nearly fell I was scared and I didn't kiss it properly. My dad did though

Yokky , it's the only practical way to reach it. It possible other ways, but you won't be allowed to try. With assistance from the helper it's quick and easy doing so from your back.

My cousin just got back from Ireland where he kissed it several times. I should add that he has untreated AIDS, Hepatitis C, and one hell of a cold sore. Also for some reason he said he bled on it.. Not sure if that is also a normal tradition...

Steal it, sell it and pay your taxes with the proceeds. We've fleeced enough tourists of their money getting them here to kiss the manky thing. Though the area and castle grounds are beautiful.
