I just finished reading this and there was so much I liked about it! I have to admit it made me somewhat obsessed with the symbolism of crows and I still can't get the "alternative" snowglobes out of my mind....great book!
I just bought this book for $1.99! I jumped on here right away and was happy to see you had made a review! We have similar taste in books. I can't wait to read it!
Okay, this is really funny, because I just read this book and immediately wanted to read The Goldfinch after haha. I’ll let you know if I also feel the same way as you, that the feeling is the same for both books.
I didn't even think this one was going to win based off of the reviews that I've seen about the other books, but I'm so glad it did! (Although I guess that's tough to say considering I've only read one other of the shortlist and would have also been happy if it won lol)
Yay!! thank you! I definitely want to read more by her. I think she has another 2/3 books, I ended up looking it up while I was editing that section haha
Your review was great (& loved the stick mic!!). This is the only book I isn't get around to on the shortlist, but I just can't get enthusiastic about reading it for some reason. Of the shortlist, sorrow and bliss and the bread the devil knead were my favourites. Of the overall list, I loved paper palace so much!
I thought it was just okay and I was surprised this won the Women’s Prize. I’m going to pick it up again and take my time with it to see if I get more out of it on a second reading.
Haha very happy with the timing! That's a good question! I don't think I would be able to say for sure without rereading A Tale for the Time Being, but I think I did slightly prefer it to this one
