Watching the match at Mbombela Stadium, which is on the outskirts of Nelspruit, I could deduce the following : 1. The sold-out crowd of 42,000 was amazing. Rarely had there been such an excited crowd during any test, played on South African soil. The vibe was absolutely electric. 2. The All Blacks had the jitters. Hence several passes going astray. And players colliding into each other. 3. The red card at the end of the test was totally justified. Thank goodness Barrett didn't suffer a potential neck injury. That fall was scary. 4. Malcolm Marx was on an entirely different level. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE FROM HIM ! 5. The test was played in excellent spirit.

I would say this: the All Blacks, over the last 5 years or so, haven’t been the best team in the world. They’ve been a team with some of the best individual players in the world. Now that isn’t enough anymore
@kaekillay
@kaekillay Год назад
100% fact. One reason is that the All Blacks DNA was and still is to score tries with razzle dazzle expansive attack. Now the game has evolved. Defence is key. Defensive line speed and tactics have improved. No front foot ball. So no more tries. The game has evolved. The All Blacks have not. It also doesn't help that they have a clueless head coach.
@devongarvie6261
@devongarvie6261 Год назад
@@kaekillay completely agree. If I was an All Blacks fan I would be so frustrated with the number of times they try to run it out of their own 22. The whole point of doing that is surely the element of surprise, like “wow, we weren’t expecting that, how are we going to defend now?” But if all you ever do is that, defending teams are prepared for that. I’ll say this as well; how many times have the All Blacks relied on moments of magic from Barrett and Ioane to win them matches? And how many times have they lost because of this obsession with scoring tries at all costs?
@cspace1234nz
@cspace1234nz Год назад
@@kaekillay ....poorly coached, poor game plan and badly prepared, this all comes down to a very poor decisions most of the NZ rugby fans knew was the wrong one over three years ago andw e are still having to suffer through probably the very worst time in All Blacks history. More than that, it will only get worse. so we can talk about attack and defennse and selections and all the rest of it, none of it makes any difference whatsoever as long as they have a highly incompetent coach calling the shots. It all comes down to the coach and the clowns that selected him and are so far keeping him in the role. The All Blacks will go back to their "razzle dazzle expansive attack" but that can only happen when they are given the confidence to do so. The thing is, even though these All Blacks look terrible, SA could only put 26 points on them. When SA was down the All Blacks put 30, 40 and even 57 points on them.

No Offensive, The AB legacy is great but I woudnt say you guys have the best players this go anymore. This NZ team doent look like the Richie, Nonu, Dan era.... you have have some greatness... Ardie, Barret, Jordan etc but when its comes not the Midfield and tight 5 NZ is lacking... I woukd say the Springboks team is more the team which is full of Superstars arm, where they could fill about 6 spots in a World 15 team. NZ will bounce back, but you need Razor.... and Dan Coles is past his time forsure.

The All Blacks used to be simply better, skillwise, than most teams. And then they would improvise, and continue to develop, and grow and inculcate new skills, constantly. Then they developed an edge; they were as hard nosed and physical, but retained all the skill. They've got the talent, they just need to fix their mentality. Their "problems" are not a lack of talent or mongrel, their problems are mental. Their belief in themselves.

It starts with the forwards. Kiwis traditionally have been super fast at recycling, hence caught defences out of position and scored buckets of tries. Ireland managed to mess with the rucks and slowed the Kiwis down. Same in SA where you have a committed defence with slow ball behind the rucks for the Kiwis. Nullified. They need more mongrel. I think a slight change in how they approach the rucks and working with the individual loosies for a week on technique and the whole facade will change for the Kiwis. They still have the backs but need the engine room to function. PS: Nice to see Ma'a in the Republic.
@Formakiwi
@Formakiwi Год назад
Can't solve a technical problem if you're being bulldozed off the ruck at every turn. The team are too lightweight and lack the power of their opposites from SA, France, England and (going by recent performances) Ireland. It's the result of different training philosophies between NZ and many other rugby nations: SA and the European teams are far more invested in strength and power than we've become; NZ's game by contrast is based on speed, agility, skill and athleticism, which was fine when we were fitter and slicker than almost anyone else. Unfortunately it's no longer the case, and the ABs are consistently running into a brick wall of opposition players who are larger, stronger and just as athletically fit as they are, and are consistently coming off second best.

I kinda of agree with the 'demise since Lions tour' sentiment (i went to two of those games). However, I was also at the Ireland game last November in Dublin and it is there that the alarm bells should have been absolutely clanging in NZ. It was a different game to watch in the stands vs the TV and what stood out to me (and I may be a bias Ireland fan but also love the way the MIB approach the game) is that Ireland could have won that game by a huge margin. We missed several opportunities to score when on the AB line. The AB tries were a solo special from Jordan and a set play from a line out. By and large that was it, there was a tiny % of the match where NZ were seriously attacking the Irish line or even in the 22. I really don't think that NZ rugby looked at this game hard enough as a barometer of where they were and on that day and it is a humble opinion - I have never seen them so comprehensively outplayed - with the same 2-3 players being over-relied upon to make things happen (Savea, Jordon and BB). I am used to Ireland being hammered by the AB's but when you looked at the back line positioning from the stands my general state of non-stop anxiety waiting for a AB counter-attack wasn't there. The normal AB's we come to expect weren't there. There was no plan B and not a huge sign of what plan A was .... 6 months later - nothing has changed.

I can recall the wallabies coach stating after a bledisoe cup loss that in his opinion Ritchie Mounga was the best fly half in the world. There is no doubt that Beauden Barrett is a brilliant player but the vast majority of his many outstanding moments occurr from broken play. The All Blacks were a more dangerous team when both players were on the field together with Mounga at fly half where his vision was important and Beauden Barrett at full back where he had open space.

For me personally, most of all, you really have to congratulate the producers for bringing some sane pundits onto the show.

I think the ABs need to start looking at the WC. Give some others a chance to play. We Saffers been through this. Forget about World Standings, build that team. Schulk's words were true. We want a strong ABs side.

What right direction they are leaderless for last 2 yrs open your eyes 👀 Foster is incompetent and some players are useless and next week ABS will have the worst streak ever

They have 30+ yrs of taking professional / critical approach to their game and so there must be 100% confidence in a return to success. I’m kind of fearful of what will emerge in 12 months time

To everyone in NZ , relax . As a proud South African I can promise you we know your pain. It’s seems all is lost and the English premier league looks like a better option. Hang in there and look forward towards the World Cup. One can only enjoy the downhills once you’ve climb the hill in the first place. The glory days will return, but unfortunately to get there is going to hurt.

Nope, we won't relax till the incompetent coach has gone. The NZ rugby public are a pretty smart lot in general and most of us knew three years ago that NZ Rugby had made a very poor choice. This has proven to be correct as record after record continues to be broken. Further to that there is more pain to come until they get rid of the clown we all knew was no good.

@@cspace1234nz Don't think so. Been predicting for years now that this would happen. As a South African I noticed that the All Blacks were becoming less competitive in the forwards, because of the run at all cost approach. It did bring you a lot of success, but things have changed.

@@dantewalters5209 ...yep, the last two years of the Hansen era, but they were still doing very well, just a poor RWC campaign, but since then under Foster it's been a nightmare. It's always the coach, no different to SA when they went throught that prolonged stage under their nightmare coach.

Still the same issue that was there when we - England - won the RWC semi-final in 2019. I don't think Ian Foster was to blame then, or for the struggle New Zealand had with Ireland's maul in Chicago in 2015 (and are still having seven years later), or other issues where the NZ forwards got pummelled up front and they couldn't pull it out despite that. And I don't think sacking Ian Foster will fix those issues either and whoever replaces him will still have them and they'll still be unresolved. Do you want to win anotherRWC? Fix that.
@zabaleta66
@zabaleta66 Год назад
Foster hasn't fixed them either. There hasn't been any progress whatsoever.....nothing! Surely we'd discern what he's trying to do with regards to a game plan and style of play!? Nothing! He needs to go, this is professional sport and at this level results are EVERYTHING!!

What's England's excuse then? With only World Cup to your name (the least out of anyone), four wins from the last two Six Nations (and one win from your last five games against Scotland) you're hardly in any position to be doling out advice now are you.
