A tragic death and a local folk tale of paranormal shenanigans! Check out our latest video where we discuss the death of a local cotton weaver by the name of James Trickett and that of 'owd Jim, a mischevious spirit who haunts the area where James' body was discovered.
James had suffered from severe pains for almost ten years prior to his death, but he was always a pleasant character and never once showed any frustrations and never let his ailments get him down.
And yet on Monday, 4th October 1915, he sadly took his own life.
Or did he?

Poor James, its so sad, I have unfortunately heard of this hanging whilst they could have easily saved themselves, shows determination to end their life. How very sad. Rupture could have been anything really, a wound maybe that wouldn't heal. Thanks a million.

It's. It the first story we have covered where the poor victim was determined to end their life. It's such a sad way to go. I guess nowadays, there is more support. Definately more than people had over 100 years ago.

I really enjoy watching your videos and listening to the podcasts, keep up the good work👍🏼. I would say a rupture might be some sort of hernia. A sad story indeed, I am thinking there was no one else involved. Take care C&V.

Cheers Simon! We need to get back upto date on the podcasts, as in releasing them. We've researched quite a few stories and we have three ready to release so we will get back onto that this weekend. We are hoping to be out tomorrow IF the weather allows it. A filming location this time 👀 But it fits well into the channel and the stories we cover.

Very interesting video again! I love these tales the only thing I think of for a rupture is something in the stomach the whole thing seems strange to me maybe he was murdered. My son once saw a ghost in a subway in the town where I live needless to say I would never go there alone!. Thank you I will go and watch some more now.

From a few comments already on this video, the likelihood of him taking his own life seems probable the more I think about it. He was obviously struggling and perhaps he didnt want to burden his family with it. The pain he may have been suffering all those years would have been building up to a point he had just had enough. Its a sad tale, but again, one I think a few people dont mind us telling as it kind of helps people know that this man once existed and worked hard for his family and community. The ghostly tale is just something I grew up with and with it being 'Owd (or old) Jim, it sort of goes cap-in-hand with the real story we told.

When people have d them selves in hospitals, prisons and the like it’s often from a radiator. They strangle themselves effectively. It’s awful and they are usually very determined

We are gutted to not be able to find his final resting place. We've searched all records online without success. I'm thinking perhaps, when we do the walkthrough of the graveyards and cemeteries where some of the people we have talked about are buried, we could look for his headstone at the same time. We have three places here where we live and he should be in one of them I would have thought.

Very interesting tale, and I’ll be following you from now on, but having worked in prisons a long time, I’ve seen numerous ways in which ways people have effectively hunt themselves…..and it’s incredibly easy to do, if your mind is determined. The noose, sacarf and string only needs to be 2 inches shorter than the drop from being stood up. James could then have just dropped himself down into a sitting position, and could/would have died instantly the moment the noose became taught…..snapping vertebrae in the neck and causing death, almost immediately, I know it is morbid, but hope it helps
@DaysofHorror
@DaysofHorror Год назад
Hi Allan and thanks for commenting. I was trying to figure out how he could have done it but now you mention shorter string, then it would make sense. A tragic tale.

Ruptured Chris, as you was saying he suffered with his stomach. It could be a ulcer that burst
@DaysofHorror
@DaysofHorror Год назад
Hi Paul, I never gave ulcers a thought when we were out recording 🫤 It's just the old newspaper reports are extremely vague and the wording in many of these kind of stories does give us some headaches at times.

back when I used to be a young en... I used to get up to no good. long story short whilst in prison at Lancaster farms a young lad killed himself by hanging from the bunk bed... he sat himself down an sat ther do die... I always thought how could he of done that as that's not the normal way to do it... I asked a nurse in our family how that could of happend in general conversation as I always thought foul play... but apparently if you tie it around your neck tight enough... you pass out and then die. it's the pass out part is what stops them from stopping themselfs from the inevitable.

I know what you mean about hanging themselves in that position. I always think the same when prisoners do it in their cells. Its not from a jump or a high position. I can't imagine being in that mental state 😢 you would think your survival mechanism would kick in. Poor man. 😔

Interesting story, the pain he had could of been an ulcer, Helicobacter pylori, or he had a brain Aneurysm , if I had to put money on it I’d say... he was killed very interesting x
@DaysofHorror
@DaysofHorror Год назад
We both spoke about a brain aneurysm and never thought about other issues. But whatever it was, he carried it for 10 years, suffering but also getting on with life up until 1915. It must have reached a point where James had simple had enough 😟
