The Brutal Downfall of Matt Riddle in WWE 

While chronicling his career, you failed to mention some of his off screen spats with the likes of Goldberg and Brock Lesnar. Him calling those guys out repeatedly on Twitter I'm sure rubbed some in WWE management the wrong way since it seemed he was almost trying to book his own feuds.

Matt Riddle was fired shortly after the WWE and UFC merger came to fruition. That can't be a coincidence.

I loved Matt Riddle in NXT and on the Main Roster, Dude was a absolute beast in the ring. His odd partnerships with Pete Dunne and especially Randy Orton were hilarious because they were super serious and he was the laid back chill guy. Unfortunately he had problems outside of the ring and got released. I would love to see him in NJPW with his hard hitting style

Is really sad what happened to Matt riddle in WWE but he bought all this drama to himself he has so much potential but he let his ego and his problems led to his downfall but I wish him the best of luck

It sucks what happened to Riddle. My uncle used to be in the indies around the New England area. Eventually it had taken too much of a toll on his body and he retired. However, one of his coolest stories was how he shared a blunt with Matt Riddle. This was around the time Matt had started gaining some attention, but long before his WWE call up. According to my uncle, Riddle was a really chill guy and fun to be around.

Matt Riddle had a solid run in WWE. He worked with many top guys like Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins and others. I hope Matt Riddle becomes a better man since the born of his new child awhile ago.

He probably had the best transition to wrestling. Its truly sad what happened to him.

This dude is talented and he put on some great performances. I dont even like the former MMA guys that turn wrestler normally because they tend to use MMA style moves in wrestling and it doesn't look good imo, but his moves looked really cool. He seems unstable though and constantly gets in trouble for unnecessary, avoidable issues. The guy became a huge liability for the promotion.

Matt Riddle will be wrestling with the Tijuana based promotion, The Crash Lucha Libre, on Jan 19th. I frequent their events as they are one of the best promotions to emerge from Tijuana in recent years. Will be an absolute treat to see him wrestle at one of the lucha libre meccas. Its not clear if hes signed for an extended period of time or just a special guest as others like Penta, Jeff Hardy, Rey Fenix, etc have also had matches here in Tijuana with The Crash but were only guest appearances. Excited to see him wrestle live ion Tijuana tho!

Anybody assuming Dana had anything to do with it, knows nothing. the UFC and WWE are owned by the company Endeavor. Dana has no control of who comes and gos from the WWE. That is the decision executives in WWE and or endeavor would make...

I was honestly surprised that I got to see one of the last few episodes of Raw he was on. Really thought he would team up with Drew for a little bit

I really dont think its really much of a downfall. Riddle has growing up to do and probably a substance abuse problem to face. Wrestlers do it all the time and hes so young and talented I fully expect Matt to have a real come to god moment and then come back into the fold. I love Riddle I am wearing my 420 Bro shirt rn ironically so I am rooting for Matt to turn it around no bridges are too burnt hell CM Punk just came back. I hope to see him in like 3 years back home in the WWE.

Oh my goodness, I'm a hardcore MMA fan, but I have been getting a lot of MMA adjacent content as of late, especially in the pro wrestling realm. At least it's interesting. I'm not complaining this is good stuff right here😅😅

Riddle and Velveteen Dream were the biggest wastes of potential that I’ve ever seen in wrestling. They had all the tools to be bigger than what they were, but scandals and bad attitudes cost them dearly.

Riddle could definitely make a long run again in WWE or AEW or even Japan....he's still in the prime years of his career.

It was a litany of bad decisions. Ultimately it's all on him.

I started watching wrestling again in 2019. I didnt realize Riddle was that new to WWE. Im surprised to learn this. I watched from '94 - 02 then only casually popped in every once in a while. I missed a lot but im constantly catching up on things that happened when i was a lapsed fan.

Riddle was talented in the ring. I was never really a fan of him as a person i thought he was a goof and immature for a guy in his late 30s but can't deny the talent he had in the ring but they've got plenty of guys in the wwe who are good in the ring so thats not gonna be enough to keep you around if you're acting a fool outside the ring and he was pretty popular but not to the point where firing him would be a big loss to the company

I remember when I first saw Matt in NXT, he was a good worker but I thought his gimmick and personality were really annoying. Then when he got to the main roster he got a major push and he became EXTREMELY annoying. But eventually I just went with it and became a fan of his. He was US champion and Raw Tag Team champion, plus he won his feud with Seth Rollins. They had some real life heat with each other but AFAIK they were able to resolve it and put it behind them. Also, he did NOT S.A. that woman who claimed he did. That never happened and it was proven that he didn't do it. She was a crazy ex of his that he cheated on his wife with, but he never forced himself on her like she claimed he did. I was a little surprised when he was let go from WWE, but now he is back in MLW and will be facing Jacob Fatu at Kings of Colosseum in January. I sure do look forward to that!
