20 Years ago to the year, James created the "Bubba Scrub" at Budds Creek which Redefined the way people rode for the rest of time. We recap just how important that day was from James's perspective.
the nostalgia of the clips, and listening to Todd Harris call the races. OG feelings bringing me back to being a little kid watching bar2bar DVDs. Thanks for all the entertainment and memories through the years James. And glad to have you in the booth to continually impact our sport. Your impact to the sport is 1 of 1
It was an honor to watch that race live. What was also amazing during that race was when he jumped the ski jump, a 15 foot high ledge to flat landing while having the bike pinned. Now that was beast mode
I was there at Budds Creek in 2003. His performance that day was nothing short of amazing. The crowd was going absolutely bonkers when he took the lead. I was there at the podium and will never forget just how iconic that day was. Racing was changed forever that day. Because then everyone else had to learn how to scrub and you could see it in the next race. Everyone got faster.
Same here as well ,was literally 25 feet away from JS7 when he first started doing the BUBBA SCRUB And me and my racing buddies were all in complete disbelief the first time he started doing it !
Without a doubt, he and his brother are two of the nicest, most polite young men whoever raced a dirt bike. Yeah, they've had their moments, but what a treat watching them race.
I used to race 785 stand up Ski, got hurt and dropped out just before going pro. I did that once in my days racing, leaving the gate going around that first turn (buoy in my case) last but finishing first I wasn’t comfortably in first like James but I had a turn on him. That gives you a high and a confidence Iv never felt before that or after it. You sir will go down in the books of history as a bike god among men.
He made fast people look slow. What a great guy in my opinion. I’m an OLD biker. The way he rode was incredible. Thanks James for all your hard work. Very impressive.
I still got a 259 shirt signed, but I wore the thing too, and I think the signature wore a bit. Funny, a lot look back at like "wow yea number 7." Man, I remember 259 too, because my brother was riding Bithlo and talking about this kid near his house. Same exit like 2 up from Disney I think, and James lived further back on a side road by Hains, my brother was right off the exit. But yeah, he said, "this kids freak and will explode onto the scene." So I had to see it and go to ATL, Det, and Daytona, and had already seen him on TV, and I was blown away. Plus at local Fl areas, Dade city of course. I remember not getting it on TV live once he went pro, and found the old phone-modem live internet broadcast, cause I had to know and listen. And I was pretty old and kind of done riding by then, maybe 30? But I realized....Man Ive been around and raced this sport since the 70s on a bike. And no rider has ever had me this involved in just one guy. Like I watched Ward, RJ, and Bradshaw and guys. And really I had no favorites, I just liked watching everyone. But with James, it was only about "what did he do?" If he fell, I'd be upset for some reason, lol. That's when I realized I've road a lot and watched a lot. But this is the first time, at 30 years of age, I'm a fan of a rider. And I love the Sport and Jet and everyone these days as a whole, But im no fan of any certain one. Hes the only one I ever was watching in amazement, but also wanting him to win and beat the others. The only one I became a fan of, and my brother was too.
Yes! That's right ,remind some folks about some stuff ,people tend to forget who should be receiving they flowers and who it really belongs too, don't hurt too many feelings lol love this! I mean guy literally changed the way ride a bike, we watch the technique constantly throughout the whole race, who else has brought anything like that to the sport I'll wait...
Man I'd give anything to watch this guy ride again... some sort of invitational, opening ceremonies, straight rhythm, SOMETHING. Just want to see him on a bike again...
We just need James to Hop on a Bike and any kind of bike. We Stewart fans would appreciate any form of riding. I hope it comes to fruition, thank you for changing the sport and giving your personality on the track and off the track!!
Something interesting is people have been doing that exact thing on skateboards with no knowledge of motocross to keep speed over pump bumps and stuff for a long time too. A good example of universal physics.
See... allllllll you little guys! Jo-jo keller was doing this in new England....almost 40 years ago... theres a famous picture of him doing it Middleboro, mass.. in THE 80'S... COME'ON RU-vid
There was guys doing real scrubs in the 80s on select jumps (usually a finish line jump or a turning double) but JS7 was first to scrub most every jump on the track.
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
