I liked the proper ending with him coming out of a building while talking to his mom on his cell phone, and he sees her walking passed and he's all shocked and confused but he keeps on walking. That ending is so much better.
I dunno. usually alternate endings seem to wrap up things better for me, but for this movie, the original was the best. The fact that he doesn't go after her shows us how much he loves her - loves her enough to let her go cuz he knows that's best for her. The other endings, including the womb one just didn't have the same impact for me.
The stalker ending is only creepy when you label it as the "Stalker ending" lol! Seriously it has a different feel before you label him as a stalker, then it's suddenly a fairly creepy, unsettling ending.
I agree 1000%. I don't consider this "stalking" so much as "pursuing". Now that he has corrected the mishaps of his influence in her life he is finally in a position to strike up a convo with her and try to start a relationship naturally, the way it should have been in the first place.
The ending about the strangling baby kinda makes sense if you remember the scene were the mom talks about how she had many miscarriages. All of those miscarriages were former kids of hers that had the same ability and they screwed up their lives to the point were they committed suicide, and now he is doing the same thing. And she is probably gonna have another baby and start the cycle all over again.
That same ending shows she remarried and had a baby later on, Evan and the other miscarriages inherited their original father’s “curse” and he ultimately became institutionalized so it ends there
The baby suicide is an epic ending, makes us think the way such brilliant movies should. It connects with what the previous three babies might have been through before they all died in the womb too. The other ending is nothing special.
In the movie shown here in Belgium, the ending where he kills himself in the womb, was the only ending, and after seeing the alternate endings, I still think this is the best ending. For the alternate endings, they had to cut the scene with the fortune teller who tells Evan that he has no soul, no lifeline, and that he never should have been born. This is one of the most crucial scenes of the whole movie!
I like the Happy Sappy Ending. It just shows how he was finally able to get things right, and he doesn't have to live through any more darkness. But seriously, either one of these endings would've been wayyy better than the "walking away ending" or that stupid "strangle myself as a baby" one which made about as much sense as a rock doing jumping jacks. But whatever, I'm just glad they made this ending at least
@@sallysmith8408 Then Evans gonna Have to explain a long story to Kayleigh here is how I imagine it would went Kayleigh(Suddenly realized the guy that she is now friends with is the same kid that hurt her feelings 21 years ago): wait a minute! You’re the same kid that hurt my feelings 21 years ago! Evan’s inner thoughts:crap! I thought she forgot about that! Kayleigh:Tell me? why you hurt my feelings at that neighborhood party 21 years ago? Evan: it’s a long story but You won’t believe me if I told you. (explain the long story to her)
I love the second ending better because he can date her and nothing bad can happen to her. This should have been the actually ending. Great Movie none the less.
@MikeyDowson When they were children, she lived with her dad because he didnt want to mvoe away from evan, so when he stopped then from knowing each other she went to live with her mom, letting her have a hapy healthy childhood. Theres no problem with him meeting her now as she's already had a nice childhood and clearly has a good job and stuff. Thats why its okay.
Would have preferred either as the actual ending. The actual ending sucked big time in my opinion. Poor guy goes throughout the whole thing and can't get her and in the end still can't get her? BS
Well it still worked out for the best. He saved Kayleigh, Tommy, their other friend, the mother with her newborn, Evan, & Evan’s mother. A lot of it had to do with Kayleigh but it showed how much he loved her that he stopped being selfish and prioritized her happiness, even if it meant they wouldn’t end up together. They both could lead happy lives and find other people to grow old with.
lol, the ending were he's a baby is the original ending and honestly, it's the only one that made most sense. cus every time he changed something it went bad for someone else, so he realised that the only way to save the other is to sacrifice himself and stop this "curse" from going on. these two endings are kinda stupid, the second one in particular. the movie was fine as it was, there was no need to make new ending just because some people couldn't handle it
The cup of coffee ending was better. These Hollywood producers always trying to find the best ending that fucks your mind for good. I feel alot better now, been scarred for years. You know what, the theatrical ending was smart because .....
@gamenerd67 He kills himslef before he's born. The kids that they are showing are Kayleigh, Lenny, and Tommy. In the movie Kayleigh said the only reason she stayed with her dad instead of her mom was because she lived close to Evan. So since Evan never was born, she and Tommy lived with their mom. Kayleigh & Tommy werent abused and Tommy never put the explosives in the mailbox so Lenny turned out fine. Evan knew they would have a better life without him, thats why he killed himself before birth
@buhaybaboy It has three endsings, the 2 you just saw and the directors cut where there is no happy ending for evan, he kills himself. The reason if i understand correctly is why the Theatrical version has him walking past her and going on with his life is because "moviegoers" dont take to kindly to powerful movies with a sad ending. A lot of people like the directors cut but for me the one ending i saw millions of times will be mine always, the one with Oasis in the background the theatrical
I don't think any of these endin would be as good as the origianal one(the baby chocking himsel). He cared about her and everybody so much that he sacraficed his life for them to have a good life. I think the ending was sad, twisted, and amazing and I think they could have made it any better...
This is exactly like an interactive narrative game! The Basic Ending - Kevin sees Kayleigh, and decides to let her go. To get this ending, you just have to go through the motions. The Hopeful Ending - Kevin sees Kayleigh, and starts to walk away, before he notices her looking back at him. He decides to follow her, the future unknown. To get this ending, you have to go through the motions, only making drastic decisions here and there. The Good Ending - Kevin sees Kayleigh, and they both end up stopping to greet each other. They end up agreeing to get some coffee together. To get this ending, you have to make every good and well intentioned decision. The True Ending - Kevin decides that everyone and everything would be for the better had he had never been born at all, and thanks to an old home video, he goes back to his birth, and strangles himself, causing him to die in the womb. This in turn makes everyone else's lives better. To get this ending, you have to make every bad decision, basically everything Kevin WOULD do.
I find the movie ending and this one. The movie one is a couragable, will power testing act giving a bitter sweet ending. While this one as show is a entire win-win situation which is always nice
I like the second ending the best, better then the other two alternate endings and the final script ending. It shows them (presumably) ending up together because they knew each other as kids and they found each other again. There's nothing better then finding somebody from your childhood that you you had to let go (for whatever reasons) and cared greatly about. I think that ending should of been used in the final script
did they cut the whole part about him being the first live birth his mom had because all the others killed themselves (which is my theory, why whould they mention that other wise) and the palm reading part in the directors cut?
Exactly right. Obviously if they end up together and have a kid (or if he has a kid w/ any woman), that kid will inherent these destructive powers and it'll be the same thing all over again. That's why his dad tried to kill him to begin with lol, these two endings shouldn't be taken seriously. The one where he kills himself as a baby is the only logical ending and it should only be that way, but immature audiences couldn't cope with that during the initial screenings so they made these too. BOOM
i feel like the happy sappy ending is the true happy ending but the original fits better. in the original he lets her go even though he got his chance again because it sums up to the idea that he and her are just not going to go well together. here it's still fine but it's less...wrapped up, i guess?
The stalker ending is only suitable for thrillers. The happy sappy ending doesn't make sense as she would not recognise him at all, plus it left nothing to the imagination as we've seen them in a relationship before. The released ending was a clean choice. The fact he walked on by is a statement of discipline & acceptance. I wont even go into the dramatic & unnecessary umbilical cord ending
The baby suicide ending fucked me up real bad,no baby deserves death,If it has to die then make it fast and painless and not by chocking,I haven't cried in a long time,I hate, and i mean HATE,that ending
well the true ending is that. not this garbage. It goes with the whole film plot. Of what I remember when I watched it the first time (and sicne then only two other times and that is about ten years ago now) is that he is trying to save the girl and be with her. When he realises, he can never be with her, he does everything in his power to make her life better than it was (his father was an abusive twat I remember, etc) and his mother, having three miscarriages before him, was never the same after she had him. (as in she thought everything he did wrong, she did wrong and blamed herself). So it was better for him to die, so everyone else he touched had better lives. Thats what I took from it. Oh and by the way, babies die like that sometimes. It's called something.
Frank Spencer: If Evan had found out he could "mind travel" back in time, but did not make further trips to fu- uh, change things, he would eventually have ended up with Kaylee any way! Sure, he would not have had his dog, and both Lenny and Tommy would have grown up maladjusted, but life would have unfolded naturally. Then again, there wouldn't have been reason for a movie. Same as if there were no "Jack & Rose" in 1997 Titanic. lol
His death by strangling himself with the umbilical chord is the best ending by far.... When I first saw this movie, it was that ending that was chosen, and no one told me, so I thought it was the true ending, and was shocked at how true and gruesome it was, how he couldn't be alive cause he would keep fucking up everyone elses lives. Years later, I watched the movie again, only to see the awful "real" ending, and was seriously disappointed. Fuck all this fake ass hollywood sappy crappy shit!
nooo the second one would make the entire movie pointless because theres bound to be negative consequences if u "play god". so there has to be a sad part about all of this.
@MikeyDowson No cause the only reason he was a phyco was because they lived with their dad. But when evan stopped them from meeting they moved in with their mom so her brother didnt go crazy and was orite.
The real ending is where he doesn't follow her or talk to her right? Plus the ending where he kills himself at birth. Are those the only four endings too the movie?
The first time i watched this on tv it showed the ending with him going into the womb and drowning. Much more powerful ending like some have pointed out and makes a lot of sence when you find out that she has miscaried a few children and they have all come to the same ending. to me the original ending will be the death one as that was the one first aired on tv
The sappy ending would have ruined it for me. There was an honesty about the film that a sickly sweet ending would have taken away. Life is not full of happy endings, I prefer when he chooses to walk away and to not mess with her life anymore.
These endings are worse then the original, because they dont include Evan making the sacrifice like his father told him was nessecary (the only sollution is just to accept what happened, son!). if he goes chasing Kayleigh anyway, it would probably have worken out as she is well educated thanks to her caring mother, but he decides not to take the risk and just lets her walk, heartbreaking as it is Now thats how to end a movie =)
@BeluuTV He didnt kill himself -.- that ending is when you find out that he was never BORN! So it means he was never born so all the things happened weren't real! ;)
The version I just saw didnt have that moment as the version I saw the first time... IN that, in the end he was good friends with his friend, the bit overweight one!... Anyone knows what cut that was?
@magicman205 I think the one where he kills himself isnt nessasrly better but i think the only good part is that he wont be able to pass on his crazy to his kids. Where as now, he could have a kid with kailey and he/she would be all crazy like him and his dad were. However this ending is alot more fulfilling as through the whole thing most people are desperate to see him happy with her. And in this he finally gets the girls. Nothing stupid about that
the endings he kills himself, meets her, keeps walking, and wouldnt he ruin it all again if he met her? sorry ive never seen this movie im not allowed but i find it very interesting ive been watching clips on youtube so... and i dont like the idea it was all fake. could somebody tell me a complete summary cuz this looks like the best movie ever
the father made their life hell. now that they are adults & she most likely lives alone they straight. my fav is the 1st alt ending, only makes since tht he wuld recognize her. thats the whole butterfly effect/time line thing
Holy shit! I recently got very confused here! I always thought that one of those hopefull scenes was the original ending. Can it be that there different endings on different releases around the world?? Coz I just saw the movie again (not the same release) and I did't recognised the tragical ending of it... omg! all my thought off this movie was recently changed! It's a masterpeice got damn it!! It all makes sense now. :D I will always hate the movie business for hiding one of best enings ever!
i saw this on TV one day. one channel had the one ending where he goes back to when he was in his mothers womb and strangled himself. Then on another channel, i saw the one where they walk away from each other, i didnt know what the fuck was going on.
@67steinip I think the director's cut where he kills himself goes a little over the top. I feel the movie is good but does have some obvious plotholes. The director's cut ending just makes very little sense (to me) if the character has the choice to do as he did in the theatrical ending. And yeah, it's over the top.
Hey there MuikuliWander, if you hadn't posted this comment 9 years ago, I would never have read it and thought about a reply. I agree that the director's cut ending doesn't make sense when you consider the fact that Evan could've saved his friends' lives and live his own, but this adds a very interesting thought: the 2 unborn babies before him could have very well lived eventful lives leading to the same decision as him. The most reasonable justification I can think of is that they realized that their curse could only die with them if they didn't have children, guaranteeing it by never being born in the first place.
How many endings are there to this film?!!! Ive seen the film hundreds of times. and only ever seen orignal and the killing himself ending. Still. Such an amazing film! so much better than 2 & 3
