I've lost so much faith in this industry that anytime I hear people getting excited about a big game I feel sorry about their eventual disappointment when it does come out
it's weird how we live in a world of better graphics, more powerful and polished game engines, convenient ways to access and sell video games, and bigger workforces, yet somehow games are releasing with less polish and less features... and still charging full price.
It's so sad to see people break away from EA's unreasonable deadlines and creative clutches just to make a game that's worse than what they would've made anyway.
I think one of the things that the first 2 dead space games I enjoyed is that they don't try to give you cutscenes that remove your immersion of the horrors of what is happening.
The Callisto Protocol was one of the games to ever release this season. It deserves the title of "A Game" with it's story, gameplay, and graphics. The story was in fact, written. The models were modeled and the textures were textured. The gameplay made me feel like i was playing a video game. Truly, one of the video games i know of.
It's an issue with a lot of unreal engine pc games, they do shader compilation for your gpu while running the game which blocks the next frame to be drawn, so it doesn't matter how powerful your gpu is or what settings you use. The most comedic part is that the freezes wont occur the 2nd time playing it, since they are already compiled, and for a game like this where the first playthrough is important its the worst thing you can do
Gotta love it when the game devs put like 50% of their budget into animating the game over scenes and the other 50% animating your dead friend grabbing you and screaming in your face
I remember reading the store page for this on Steam, seeing the line "Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat" in the description and instantly having this gut feeling of "This game gon' be mid as fuck
Fun fact is that I unironically fall asleep to most of pyro's lives. They are fantastic and help me sleep despite my insomnia because he is so relaxing to listen to.
I'm like 90% convinced they originally wanted a longer opening cause they treat the warden and the copilot like you knew em for hours already when they both appear for 5 minutes
