Yeah but judge is also wrong, in some states you can make a left turn on red from a one way onto a one way. However she did it from a one way onto a two way, so yeah! throw the book at her! She deserved this

When in Massachusetts you are allowed to turn left on red on a one way street onto another one way street.

There are places in the country that circumstances might permit a left on red. For example, the way Idaho law is written you can turn on a red light so long as you don't have to cross opposing traffic. As such, you can turn left on red so long as your turning onto a 1 way street from a 1 way. Maybe she if from a state with a similar law though I can't say for sure.

I lived in Attleboro for years and some intersections allow a Right in Red after stop but I don’t remember a Left on red anywhere. And no cameras yet.

A left turn onto a one way street from a one way street is permissible in Hawaii. (After a complete stop) However this program is called Caught in Providence.

Left on red after a stop is permitted in many Pennsylvania cities as long as you are turning left on to a one way street. There is sometimes a sign but many have been knocked over and not replaced.

That last blond must have been a relative of a woman I met many years ago. Back in the day when there was full service gas stations we got all kinds. I was in my early 20's and working an extra job in a filling station. One day a very nice dressed young woman, I would guess she was mid to late 20's, drove in and told me she had a tire that needed repaired. She told me some guy stopped and changed the tire for her and told her to bring it to the station for repair. She got out and opened the trunk and as I was lifting the tire out she said to me, "you know, I never knew those things had air in them." I never said a word. I just fixed the tire.

A judge in Hawaii helped change lives via the 12 steps of recovery. He did it all via being anonymous. He passed in 2014 with 33 years sober. People like Judge George and Frank Caprio are my heroes!

In almost all states you can make a left turn on red if you're turning from a one-way street to a one-way street. A few states also allow turning left on red from a two-way to a one-way street. Rhode Island, however, allows neither. And that lady went left on red from a one-way to a two-way, which is a ticket in every state.

I've driven up and down the East Coast New York to Florida and I've never been or seen a state that says you can turn on a left. I'd surely like to know where you live, because I can vouch it's not legal on the right side of the country ....

@@hoshimaruhajime7933 That one a twist. In the State of New York, you can turn left on red from a one-way to a one-way. HOWEVER, in New York CITY you cannot turn left (or right for that matter) on red unless otherwise noted by a traffic sign.

Being a citizen lawyer, as Judge Caprio puts it, I looked up the Rhode Island drivers manual, and indeed it is NOT mentioned a motorist can make a left on red. In Massachusetts, New York, Texas (and probably others) the drivers manual states a left on red can be made (after stop) where two one way streets intersect. Either way, she never stopped!

Many downtowns have one way streets with traffic lights. And yes, you can make a left on red AFTER stopping first! Her comment was correct that she could make a left on red in mass, but only when it's 2 1way streets and after making a stop.

The first case, I won two tickets the same way: on technicalities. 1, the ofc couldn't see my light bc of the same truck blocking the light. Vic Miller was Topeka's Caprio. I and the ofc couldn't see the light. I won. 2nd, got a ticket for expired tags...2 days after they expired, and 4 days after my truck was stolen. Literally got ticketed for my reported stolen truck getting parked and blocking an alley. Thanks Topeka PD! Friggin ticket my stolen truck before telling me y'all found it!

In the U.S., 36 states and Puerto Rico allow left turns on red only if both the origin and destination streets are one way. ... Five other states, namely Alaska, Idaho, Michigan, Oregon and Washington, allow left turns on red onto a one-way street even from a two-way street.

In Missouri when I learned to drive, it was legal to make a left from a one way road onto a one way road with a red light and no other signs. Drove the person doing the training course nuts with that one decades ago, I had the rule book open to the page waiting to mention it.

Oh ya, that is how everyday life here is. I myself go the wrong side of the road sometimes, motorcycle riders drive on sideways/footpaths for pedestrians. Any pedestrian can cross a road anytime, they just show their hand to cars and start crossing the road.

Judge: Left on Red is permissible in NYS and Mass. See NYS VTL, Section 1160, Article 28 . Left turn is permissible from a one way to a one way street after coming to a complete stop and yielding to all traffic and pedestrians.

In Georgia, a left turn may be made after stop on red if the intersecting street is a one-way from the right and it is safe to do so.

You can turn left on red in the US Virgin Islands and anywhere they drive on the left. Thank you Judge Caprio. It pisses most judges off when you know the law, and they go harder on you. I have seen it almost every time. The defendants were absolutely correct, and the judges not only wrongfully convicted them, but also gave them more than the minimum. I am thankful I have never had to be in that position personally.

I can't believe you have to go to court for all these violations. Its such a waste of courts time. In my country you get a ticket that's it. You pay it or make arrangements to pay it off in installments. If you don't make any effort to do either one they cancel your licence until contact is made.

In my part of the country, you can in fact turn left on red in two situations: 1. Turning from a two way street onto a one way street. 2. Turning from a one way street onto another one way street. I would wager a guess that there are many other states where at least one of these situations is also legal. :)

Everyones saying the last girl is at huge fault. She is, but for not yielding. She is actually turning into a one way street. Look at the sign once you pause the video when she turns left. It's a one way street to the left. 7:40 pause and the sign on the red says one way to the left.

In Ohio it is legal to make a left turn on red from a one way street onto another one way street unless otherwise posted. I won that traffic court case and now the intersection is marked with a no turn on red sign.

ATTENTION JUDGE CAPRIO ... According to the NYS Motor Vehicle and Traffic Law Manual... In NY State, unless otherwise posted, you can make a LEFT TURN ON RED AFTER STOP, provided you yield to oncoming traffic at all times and that the roadway you're turning onto is a one way street (such as a highway ON ramp... or a freeway SERVICE ROAD) going from right to left from when you first faced the red sîgnal.

For the left turn violator, it's hard to tell but that road is a two direction road from what I saw, thus making it a violation to not stop and wait for the turn light. If it was or is, a one way road, where she isnt crossing a lane opposing her left direction making her turn, then it's not illegal.

I do wonder who taught that young woman to drive, that she would believe it is okay to turn left on a red light. Better not ever try that in California, where red light violations are a whole lot more than $85.

In some places you can make a left hand turn on red if both intersections are a one way.

That’s correct. From a one way street in the left lane to another one way street. Used to be true in California.

In WA, making a left on red is ONLY legal when you are turning on to a one way street. Unless there’s a sign saying you can’t.

In Pennsylvania not only can you make a right on red but if its a one way coming from your right side you can make a left on red.

To do a left hand turn on red, it must be one way street to another one way street and permitted by a sign or law of the state. On top of that, the times I have seen this, the sign still says you need to stop first. Which she hadn't even attempted, so would still be a ticket.
