MORE INFO & TO BUY: www.sundayriver...
The famous 700 class Nickel Plate Berkshire locomotives from the 1940s and 50s-as well as the men who operated them-are featured in this DVD. See the Berks hauling coal and way freight, many doubleheaded and screaming down the main line carrying perishables. Some 500 class Mikados make an apperance as doubleheaded partners.

Great video and well worth buying! I particularly like the stories from a group of former NKP railroaders they interviewed. Good stuff!

The raw power of the steam locomotives is incredible. Since we no longer use steam to power our lives, it's hard to appreciate steam engines. (I'm not including the use of steam to create power that won't go out of use as long as nuclear, gas, or coal drive turbines by creating steam) A little of people seem to believe that steam's lack of punch spelled it's doom, not maintenance down time or the black smoke fouling the air as well as Aunt Maude's freshly washed laundry hanging on the line.

I'd love to see a double header now, but only one NKP Berkshire still operates.
