I have a couple theories. 1. Vlad is the scribe king, and his watcher is his brother in law, which is why he keeps calling the payday gang in to get him out of trouble. 2. With the dentist dead, Bain's reincarnation is him ascending to the now empty throne of the healer king, which he immediately begins work healing society.
I wonder who Bain's Watcher will be. Duke seems to be the best for the job but he might want nothing more than needed with this whole Watcher and King business.
@@Dragonspirit223 I'd think maybe Locke? Locke would easily be able to take over Crime net, he'd just need to be able lead the gang at that point. He has the abilities to help secure crime net, he has the knowledge and ability to get things done, he could have contacts left and could probably gain more. He'd take his place pretty much, and probably be smarter about keeping his location and such safe.
With regard to Harujdin being Vlad’s watcher I doubt, as in such a case Harujdin would be a lot more calculated and careful, and some of Vlad’s voice lines in Stealing Xmas hint towards a request at “accidentally” pushing Harujdin off the tree. I think he is more of a comic relief character than anything else.

@@gamingjolt9621 During CrimeFest there was a new microtransaction put into the game where you could buy safes (loot boxes) for special weapon skins and blueprints, some of which gave stat boost. The community felt betrayed by the devs who said that microtransactions would never be a thing in payday 2. As a result, the lootboxes were taken out and you can now earn the weapons by just completing heists and getting really lucky or trading in the community. Kknowley put it into the lore when he mentioned Vlad's weapons that he started giving out for free around 1:34:50.

I find it funny that Bain specifically has to mention to Jacket *not* to horde the audio tape, as if to imply that Jacket's audio tapes are actually apart of a bigger horde. A dragon hordes gold, while Jacket hordes audio tapes.
Do you know how many 80’s dictaphone demo tapes you gotta comb through to find a half decent vocabulary? How else am I supposed to define banana chips while I’m robbing a bank with a hammer in my varsity jacket and chicken mask?
I find it funny how they kept trying to justify Jacket as a credible character and not the cardboard cutout he was. You literally don't even see his face in the source material lmao.
One of the things I like about Jacket in this game is that despite being a guest character he is still a very active character in PayDay 2 like being on lots of promo art and how despite being part of his own game he has become part of 2 game communities (the first time I ever heard of Hotline Miami and Jacket is because of Payday) instead of being important for a little bit and just being forgotten. It really feels like he was integrated into the story instead of forcefully being jammed in there by the devs.

in that case the masks are probably alien tech, which in turn begs the question if the masks the core four wear are alien and can shapeshift too If they are alien and can shape themselves, why are there two sets of shapeshifting masks? If they match the symbols of the core four, and are meant for us, shouldn't we be wearing the masks in the coffer? If our masks we're wearing rn dont shapeshift, why is there an identitcal shapeshifting masks locked in a coffer nobody has seen for eons? Who made them? I think my favorite part of all this is that the Dentist's failure is his own damn fault. If he hadn't engineered Hoxton's arrest, the gang wouldn't have pissed off so many powerful people, wouldn't have had to expand, and thus wouldn't have recruited the only man on the planet who could help them break the cycle. The thing that gave him the leverage he needed for his plan to be set in motion is ultimately what ruined his plan. Poetic justice at it's finest, folks.
Isn't that the same with Bain? Wasn't the only reason Bain died was because he was injected with the virus that the crew stole in No Mercy? The hafts of arrows truly are feathered by our own plumage.
@@gingerinajacket8519 I agree Bain's death is also his own fault, but I think there's a bigger cause than that: He never trusted his only real allies with the whole story, and thus when his demons came home to roost, he was left to fend for himself. If he had told the gang the whole truth from the beginning, they probably would've made sure he was a bit more protected, or at the very least been way more careful during heists.

You know my favorite macro perspective on this whole franchise? They introduced TELEKINESIS, and about 3.2 seconds after that introduced a FUCKING CLONE ARMY. "hey, i made this art thief heister, can i put him in the game?" "yes, but he has to be a conspiracy nut that somehow prevents the world's end by reading old scripts in a markiplier voice"
I'm inclined to believe that the #MyHeister campaign was intended from the start to produce a character who would act as an in-universe stand-in for the community, who would solve the secret in-game the same way the community solved the ARG outside of the game.
(Spoilers) I find the fact that the dentist's downfall was that he got so used to being immortal he never considered the possibly of instantly getting fucking murked by entering in the same room with his 4 most dangerous enemies (who are all HEAVILY armed) the funniest shit ever.

For the new people in the back, I'm talking about when those safes you open that have weapon skins in them. Those used to need a Drill to open. You pay for that specific drill like it was a key in CS:GO or TF2. This was a big deal because the devs had outright promised that the game would never have microtransactions, but Starbreeze, the publishers, pretty much forced it in.

That's not wrong, everything past and including Alaskan Deal was done by one writer who had to scramble around and tie up the lore together. Everything before that - basically dart throwing.
Part of me hopes payday 3 will have these same supernatural, conspiracy cover up themes as payday 2 had later in the story. The events after Alaskan Deal felt like something out of an Indians Jones movie. Not that I’m complaining about that.
4:04:25 My personal theory is that the masks in the chest are actually meant to be the ones you get when you complete the secret (the ancient ones, not the "Secret Dallas/Chains/Wolf/Hoxton" masks), but for some reason, Overkill just put in weathered versions of the default masks in there, probably since the secret ending masks were likely made well after Henry's Rock was released.
I can see Medic Bag being the safe house lol. The question is, what will be everyone's motivation going back into the heist game? They all got flithy rich from the heists they did and all of them can make sure their great great great grandchildren can go on early retirement. I have a question: are the crossover heists supposed to be canon? The TF2 turret feels out of place in a game where the weapons are fairly realistic. Something else that I remember being a point of contention was the Left 4 Dead heist as both Bill and the Green Flu virus are present even though there's no zombie outbreak. Lastly, why are you so good at narrating a story? It's rare for me to be genuinely compelled to watch such a long video. Great job man, seriously.

The remake of the No Mercy heist in Payday 2 is explicitly said to be a flashback, being the exact same heist as the one in the first game." "The heist also seems to lack any elements of infected from the original, although Bill from Left 4 Dead still makes a cameo and the patient is shown to be slowly mutating. In addition, OVERKILL implemented a method to allow for the No Mercy heist to be lore-friendly: Regardless of how the crew escapes, whether it be by the roof or escape by ambulance, Mercy Hospital will be destroyed. This is also one of the reasons as for why the heist was made from being a nightmare, into a real heist that took place canonically in the PAYDAY universe."
Also about your original question: "At the beginning of the Heist, Bill from Left 4 Dead may come into the elevator and interrupt the briefing. This is a reference to The Sacrifice comic where Bill went to the hospital to get a checkup before the infection started." "The heist ending happens at the same time as the first outbreak of the Infected in the Mercy hospital, which is two days after the first infection."
those are crossovers, but they're not canon to the universe they're crossing over with tf2 could potentially be in the payday 2 universe, but left 4 dead isn't in the payday 2 universe. instead, the green flu just became a deadly virus that killed people but gave them immense strength, sort of like a drug

Hey chief, big question. How did Hoxton make a professional level mask in prison? I remember somewhere, i think in Jimmy's mask profile, stating that Gage put his maks together based on his cocaine filled lifestyle and in other notes/files it says Bain puts the crews masks together. Regardless, neither Bain or Gage could have given him the mask until the minute of the breakout. I understand it's supposed to be cool and it is, but it has always puzzled me since I was 15 and the Hoxton Breakout trailer came out.
Haha, great question. Unfortunately it's not something we really get an answer to. There's a couple of possibilities though. 1. The mask was made by a contact of Hoxton's outside of prison and smuggled in via his Lawyer, a guy we do actually hear from in the Christmas album. 2. Hox had it made inside of prison. We know he got on well with some inmates thanks to his breakout dialogue. Other signs such as the chemical burns show that he was a prominent member of the prison society in his year or so in there. I wouldn't be surprised if he had the resources in prison to get that mask set up. The only other character involved in his breakout was the Dentist. Maybe he could have set things up?
