Hi! One ramdon question hope you can answer, This is my 8th day of water fast and I want to do a blood test , I am going to take sodium, potasium, magnesium, glucose, liver profile , insulin, what else would you reccomend to look up for ? I am looking forward to do it at least 15 days and my final target 30 days (depending on how I feel and family)
You're promoting dangerous behavior. You failed to mention the effects of low potassium levels in the bloodstream, the effects of water fasting on cholesterol, and other health detriments. You also failed to mention the loss of contractile tissue compared to adipose. You're going to get somebody hurt/killed.
i was skinny asf in 2018 but gained 40lbs and nothing fits but i am still wearing the same clothes :D day 3 water fast ..can't wait to lose everything again and then go back to normal intermittent diet where i eat whatever tf i want every day and not gain any weight.
Money well spent! Get rid of all those old clothes. I've not done that in the past and it allowed me to grow back into those clothes. If I had gotten rid of them, I would have become uncomfortable in the new, smaller clothes and been forced to get my shit together before gaining dozens of pounds extra.
Yeah, you don't have that initial mountain trek of five days beforehand, but it does make you strong, mentally, haha. The only thing I’d do differently is I would’ve done every blood test known to man and did the same post-refeed.
100%, it takes out the painful first 2+ days of getting into ketosis. The cravings, and feelings of starvation is wild if you're not already in Ketosis. It also is more effective if you're already fat adapted. Some people take weeks and even months to become fully fat adapted. I never do fasts unless fat adapted, the struggle isn't worth it.
True story, I did my first water fast in 2019 and it knocked the arthritis out of my knee that I had, had for 2 1/2 years prior. It never came back, even when I gain the weight back. So it wasn’t just losing weight and taking pressure off the joint, it was because of the fast itself.
@@kenstar3692 At that time I fasted for 31 days. I want to go on another 30 day fast, it’s just so hard for me to start it but it’s easy once I get past my third day.
@@kenstar3692 how did it go ? Im on my 4th day of water fasting rn and like the dude say in the video its brutal asf, I have to smoke cannabis to help with the horrible side effects
I want to share, I'm 25yo, I have been an alcoholic probably since I was 20, I was very fit before my 20's I new fasting already at that time, I am 6ft and I was like 180punds, overdrinking left me with quite a few problems mentally and physically (relationship and financially wise I think are way worst lmao) I'm almost 300punds now, I now finally decided to quit al0cohol and I am about to hit 30days sober, I've always though of myself as a pretty smart guy, and I always want to improve my life, so now that I decided to quit alcohol, I need my health, confidence and sharpness of thinking back, because I need to make money and fix this 5 years I wasted. So as of today AGU/16/2023 I am going to fast, the plan is 30days just water and salt, after that I don't know, If I remember I will be back to this video with an update in 4 months to let you know how I did. wish me luck.
I did water fasting also 50+ days many years ago. Everything he said is 100% true. Was lightheaded at times (if I was too sedentary) and had to get up slowly. So many pros that actually didnt want to stop it except that I didnt want to become skinnyfat, plus hunger started reappering. Continued to loose weight after refeading. Also went on Omad afterwards with fasted training (inspired by LeanGains), the results where better than steroids. Also competing in things like running or ball sports was super easy due to unlimited energy. One downside was I still had gynocemastia which had to be removed surgically.
@@trappentertainment You can always find a cheaper one if you look or go to a county where it’s cheaper, but it needs to be someone who does the procedure often and who doesn’t just remove the gland but also makes sure it looks good and natural afterwards (like the nipple being attached to the chest so it follows when you squeeze your chest muscles.
@PA PLINKSTER No, but it depends on what type of gynecomastia it is, if it’s just fat around the chest or if the actual breastfeeding glands have become enlarged.
I did a 10 day water fasting but I didn’t pass out at all. It’s true the third day is the worst experience as my mind was doing everything into tricking me to give up my water fasting but I managed to pass that. Neither did I experience yellowing in my eyes dizziness. In fact the hardest part for me was how to break the fasting.
@@ben10issan I broke my fasting first with a couple of juicy watermelon slices followed by a bone and broccoli soup. I did that the following day with more added vegetables in my soup
@@talemm thank you for the info but I just broke my 14 day fast yesterday and I had bone broth, then 1 hour later a bag of popcorn, then 1 hour later I had a strawberry banana smoothie, this morning I had eggs and ghee, I feel great 👍
I did a 7 days fasting while I was doing school run. I was cooking breakfast for my kid, what I did to minimise the temptation from the smells of whatever I was cooking. I put Vicks ointment in my nose. It worked like magic. But in saying that. I had prepared myself and I guess I developed a Mental fortitude.
I am following my version of the Buchinger Whilhemi Clinic protocol: fasting with broth (under 250 calories keeps the body in ketosis). I am in month three; lost 40 pounds (have 40 or more to go). I will re-feed when it seems the time is right. Until then, I feel good, got bloodwork done. Take a few supplements. Sleep pretty good. Mood is more stable. Cognition clearer. Fewer headaches. Walking and mild movement workouts.
Morning: warm glass of lemon juice/apple cider vinager/tea spoon of salt all mixed. Afternoon: same thing as morning but throughout the day you can drink coffee (no creamer obviously) and other zero calorie drinks. The apple cider vinegar helps with hunger, and the salt keeps the headaches away. You will lose 1-1.5 lbs a day by consuming zero calories, you don't need to just drink water. You don't have to torture yourself. I've done this a bunch of times I'm on day 6 again. If I feel like I am going to break I will literally chew food up and spit it out just so I remember what it tastes like. It doesn't matter what anyone says. This is your goal who cares what you have to do to make it happen.
I'm on day 44 water fasting, and I'll admit I chewed and spit a couple times, lol, it's not ideal, but if you can keep going, the benefits are amazing. Drinking coffee helps, but I've yet to try apple cider vinegar.
@@joshbell5387 don’t even blame you, I been taking two turmeric chewers the past 2 days . This has been pretty fucking difficult I question myself everyday if I want to continue this but I know I’d be so damn upset at myself lol.
Haha I never thought about chewing and spitting out haha what I do I guess gives me similar relief I just sniff the food really hard and it makes me feel like I tasted it.
For those wondering, the 7 day issue from getting up too quickly is called Orthostatic Hypotension. There are varying degrees of it. Sometimes it will be a bit off balance and light headed, others times it will be that and some partial temporary vision loss and in the more extreme version a complete blackout for several seconds and or loss of consciousness. What makes this particular dangerous is if one falls down and hits their head or something. I'd also like to add that this is not unique to fasting - Many endurance athletes get his all the time and just learn to live with it. No one is quite sure entirely what it is except low blood pressure when changing positions (laying down going to a stand). I myself have this happen, but usually only 1) when in a caloric deficit and 2) low on glycogen stores (aka, carb cutting) - salt can impact this, but merely as a by-product in that is brings up blood pressure indirectly. I firmly believe the issue manifests itself when the body knows there is a energy deficit (whether it be too much energy output (aka too much exercise), or not enough input (not enough calories) or a combination of the two). I also think this is more apt to happen on a low carb diet, at least until once has transitioned to running on ketones efficiently. Not an advocate of any diet here, just sharing my experiences and research with this particular issue. I have not had an episode of this since I cut out most chronic cardio and introduced a moderate amount of carbs back into my diet. I resistance train 4x a week and still do some walking, but I no longer run or train cardio structurally anymore. The result has been a lot more NEAT energy (I feel like doing things now, instead of laying on the couch all day because a 45 minute cardio session sapped my energy). Anyhow, best of luck to all.
My mother gets POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) when she does Keto. In this version the heart rapidly accelerates to make up for the drop in blood pressure creating tachycardia.
yeah electrolytes are sooo important, the times i fasted for only 3 days i couldn’t even walk. When I started taking Himalayan salt water for electrolytes it took that away the only thing is you have to do it every day and be consistent
I'm on day 10 of my water fast. I feel great. Ive not suffered any effects. Been taking sea salt 3-4 times a day. My eyesight has really improved to the extent that I may be able to ditch them at the end. Happy fasting
don't take it too long or too much. for me a single dose was enough for my 21 days fast. I started to feel really bad after 7 days, thats when I took salt, dissolved in water and drank it. after that it was ok for the other 2 weeks.
salt is enough. electrolytes is the whole family of minerals. (so if you happen to have minerals, take them) but regular salt is most important and easy to get. @@staypatient2816
@@staypatient2816 There’s a detailed guide on the r/fasting subreddit, check in the menu section -They suggest NoSalt to meet your potassium daily minimum, magnesium citrate for magnesium and standard table salt (iodized) for sodium. -I’m sure you know this, but you dissolve them into water. -They also provide sample recipes for the amount of electrolytes needed per serving. - They recommend spreading out your intake across the day to avoid diarrhea and dehydration.
Thanks for this these videos. There are very few on long fasts. I'm 12 days into a 75 day fast. I got my blood work done on day 8, and will get it done a few more times as I go. Everything was in the normal range except my liver markers are slightly high. I had a surgeon look at it and he said it looks fine. My glucose was 73. Doctors really don't know what to do or say about a long fast. I'm the only person they will ever see do one, probably, in their entire career. Ron looks and sounds like he feels great! It's fantastic for him.
A 75 day fast is crazy to be honest… what’s the point of living if you decide not to put food into your body? More torture of your internals than repairing in my opinion
Unless you have alot fat starving above 40 days leads to muscle waisting and heart damage. Guess depends on subcutaneous fat, most average BMI people can do it for a month, only very obese have been clinically described to have fasted for 100-200+ days.
"my liver markers are slightly high" Excercise does this too. So I wouldn't be too worried. But I would do a strict water-fast - some use fasting methods where they put a small amount of honey in the tea or so which WILL definitely rise your liver enzymes (because sugar in any form damages the liver).
I finished a 3 day fast a month ago. Going for 7 to 10 and started today.. I have a wieght target i want to reach. I find it easier to just stop eating rather than dieting.
I did a 30 day water fast. Every time I took electrolytes like salt. I had severe diarrhoea. So I stopped and only took water for 30 days. I never experienced high energy through the 30days. Everyday I felt extremely tired and sometimes cold
@@omega1maestro electrolyte salts: sodium, potassium and magnesium. You probably want to do your own research on which to get but himalayan pink salt is great for sodium
My blood pressure drops way too low when I try to fast. Electrolytes don't help in my case. But it is extraordinary that he was able to do this and keep the weight off.
Well, as they say, you get what you put in. If you put a lot of effort into something, you value it more. I love food, and I love eating, so to me, this was a big sacrifice and a massive test of my willpower. This was the best thing I have ever done, and for the rest of my life, I will ensure never to let myself go. It has also made me good at fasting, which I do consistently now. I occasionally do two, three, or four days randomly; I also do OMAD as a norm for me day to day.
@@Seraphim_Belisarius That's makes sense to me -- you figured it out for yourself. Knowing yourself and what motivates you is more than half of the equation. Congratulations on your accomplishment.
I KNEW it was going to be electrolyte deficiency being the main thing. That is what it always is ! I went on a 40 day fast and had to stop at day 17 due to all KINDS of problems. Now I have a good electrolyte mix to use I'm gonna give it another go.
Starting my fast tomorrow, aiming for 50 days. I’ll be taking iodized table salt and no-salt dissolved in water and magnesium citrate tablets in multiple servings across the day to meet my daily electrolytes requirement. Will give updates.
@@aprilvercammen7021 I only made it to 21 days, but I lost ~20 pounds. I gained 8 pounds (so net loss of 12). Then I changed my diet, and now I’m down 15 pounds. The only real issues I had was becoming lightheaded if stood up too quickly and stomaching the gross salt water. I eventually started increasing my water intake to mask the salt (which was hard but made it much more bearable). And if I forgot to take my electrolytes my energy would dip and I would get headaches. I was pre-diabetic and needed to take immediate action, so overall I think it was worth it
I am on a long term water fast right now. I supplement with electrolytes, Celtic sea salt, fresh lemon water, vitamin B rich nutritional yeast, trace minerals and vitamin D. I do all this to protect my heart and nervous system.
These short videos are easy to understand and somewhat informative. Although water fasting is relatively straight forward human anatomy is not and so water fasting will vary significantly from person to person. Also is that it may not be advisable for persons with certain health conditions. I have successfully undertaken water only fasts of 20 to 48 days in recent years and would recommend the following books that need to be carefully studied for anyone interested in this. Principles of Fasting by Leon Chaitow. Published in 1999. and Water Fasting by Elizabeth Moore. Published in 2019. These are available from Amazon. Good luck to all of you in your water fasting journeys !
Also my senses become like super hero level. My vision gets a little better but my smelling ability becomes intense. I don't think he was exaggerating. But I can smell anything. I can smell someone's soap scent from another office. Food from th other side of my work building 🏢. And it's like I can even separate each scent. I was like I smell roasted potatoes, chicken, salad dressing and onions. I admit I couldn't smell the lettuce from the salad.

Very helpful information! Thank you so much! I’m on day five of my seven day fast but I’m considering extending it. Day three was rough, now I feel great. I’m taking electrolytes which does help a lot. Was really concerned about gaining back the weight but now I feel I can do it with OMAD which for me is very easy to do.
Man, I never get this "feeling great" thing people talk about. I've done fasts up to 7 days and I always feel absolutely horrible on them. It could be that I'm already pretty skinny, but I've always wanted to feel that "fasting euphoria" people talk about.
His senses heightened which is normal. The nervous system requires carbs to heighten serotonin so you will smell carbs from another country when its depleting! When I began reintroducing water, I actually tasted the water meaning it had taste and it was metallic (Fuji Water)! I now boil water and put lime or lemon in it. Day 3-4 are usually the worst of the fasting days until the body gets use to fasting. Its the liver detoxifying for the yellowing which is why eyes get yellow, tongue gets white (brush your tongue often). In my culture, you fast weekly (3 days) to spiritual remove ailments or negativity, and at least 7 long fasts annually (whether 7-10 day dry or water fasts or combination) for spiritual level and to completely reset the body.
I am in awe of this guy. He's a champ, my new hero. I wonder what his gut microbiome looked like pre, during and after his fast. Better ? Worse ? Very curious.
I've done many 1-18 day fasts and I always had the hardest time the first 1-5 days, sometimes I ended my fasts because of that. I was feeling crappy or cravings were crazy! What I learned is that it has been far easier if I do a couple of things before fasting. First I need to be full keto or carnivore for 1-2 weeks+ before fasting, second, as I get closer to fasting I reduce calories daily until I finally cut calories all together. This seems to make entering a water fast much easier. I also take electrolytes and some vitamins while fasting. Things have gone much easier when I have done this method. BTW I have made every mistake you can make fasting especially eating bad stuff after the fast but I learned not to do this, it is a must to feed properly afterwards.
Hi! I was wondering if the fasting affected you period? Did it make them irregular or did you lose your period completely? Does it cause fertility issues?
i've watched lots of water fasting videos and this one is by far my favorite. short and succinct. explanations as to what was happening physiologically, informative and positive. what impressed me the most was you could tell he really knew what he was talking about in those short explanations. nothing long or drawn out. excellent videos.
I found that locking the fridge by wrapping a bicycle lock around the handles and giving my wife the key made it MUCH easier to sleep through the night while fasting.
Dr Sean O'Mara on visceral fat and its impact on health. He recommends fast sprints. 100m I think unloading body mass to protect knee joints would be smart. I understand that muscle tissue is protected on water only fast. Some walking about stimulates muscle retention while fasting. Muscle growth on a full daily diet is wiser. Exercise after the end of fasting I think. 😊
Very cool. I did a 10 day fast and my eyes were briefly yellow too, and then I did excrete some green bile. But my blood work always confirms I have Gilbert syndrome. I’m assuming that’s why I had that day of lameness. The rest of it went well and eyes became white as snow 24 hours later- Thank you for sharing your story with us :-)

This video needs a 4th to bookend it.. explaining how, from a physiological point of view, you could safely introduce all these things into a water fast. Like which supplements you should take and maybe a ballpark of quantities. I'd be curious how he took his salt, because when i water fasted i didn't take salt but sodium bicarbonate, as i couldn't stand the taste of raw sodium, not even sprinkled into water. Also like if you water fast you should take a pill with Vitamin D in X quantity or something like that, would help. I mean... it would help to cut through some of the Bull you get told on Forums to make a 4th video in this series. Much like the Conclusion videos you wanted to do for the studies and such.
@@Physionic I also imagine there is a difference in supplements as pills or those dissoluble vitamin tablets, or such. Not sure if that would even make a difference during a Waterfast. Anyway, i am looking forward to it (No pressure)
I've done water fast for 3 weeks. Should he 21 days. I lost 16 kg. But the mistake I did was immediately binge eating after it and gaining more then I lost. I'm going to enter my 30 day fast and make sure I introduce good back after 30 days slowly and safely and keep the weight off. Gonna take more discipline then going through the entire fasting period for sure.
Can you please make a video on the relationship among chronic fasting, cortisol level, testosterone, sperm production/count/quality, sleep and morning woods.
I already have fainting problems so I have to be very careful when I fast. I take a multi vitamin, and I use a stevia based electrolyte powder. I didn’t last time, which had some bad side effects. Beside the fainting, I could no longer keep water down. This made me unable to take my medication. It happened three days in a row so I knew it was time to stop. Ended at 35 days. Be careful
During a (water or dry) fast it is essential to: 1) have a well working fat metabolism (bile salts etc...) 2) stay hydrated enough (counteract hunger and enable other body functions) The first problem might cause difficulties getting into ketosis (becoming fat adapted and produce energy from fat instead of sugar). When fasting the sugar stored in the liver will deplete over the course of 3 days. After this the body HAS TO switch to ketosis. This will be delayed or impossible if bile production is not at a good level Bile is also used to excrete toxins (bile duct from the liver to the beginning of the small intestine) The second problem will cause serious discomfort, increase hunger and possibly stall weight loss. Some water will be needed for bile production and without bile no fat metabolism. A severe lack of water might also increase cortisol because of physiological stress. I experienced both of these problems. Everybody reacts differently so it is always a good idea to test things before fasting especially for a longer period.
I watched all 3 in this series. Really interesting, well-made videos. I'm going back on the wagon after 2 years and I'm going to do 2 meals a day again between noon and six, with a weekly 24 or 30 hour fast. I want to feel good again.
the RBC lysis can also be explained by the fact that in ketosis state the ketone body production also generate ROS that is reactive oxygen species which are usually tackled by antioxidants in the body and RBSs. Glutathione is the main antioxidant in RBCs. but itll start to deplete after sometime. hence ROS will damage the RBCs. and accumulated damage leads to RBC lysis. hence yellowish eyes and eventually lead to anemia too. 6:19
I’ve done an 11 day water/electrolyte fast and that was my limit, got quite hangry and knew it was time to stop. That was several years ago while I was still working so I think stress played a role, maybe now that I’m retired maybe it’ll be a little easier. I can do a 5 day fast pretty easy. I’m glad I started OMAD carnivore as Ron does January 1st have been losing about 3-4 lb a month, hopefully get to my goal weight by august.
I am interested in trying a water fast but have many questions/concerns and looking for feedback: - I do not usually have a lot of willpower when very hungry. How many days does it take to get past this? After a week or so, do you just not feel hungry anymore? - Significant calorie restriction really destroys my energy but also my ability to sleep (in part from being hungry). Does this also pass? - I have a cognitively demanding job where I have to think clearly. How does a fast affect this? Is it also something that is tough for a few days and then improves? - I exercise regularly with both weights and cardio. I’m worried that I won’t be able to work out or will lose a lot of muscle mass. Is this really an issue?
From my experience: - It takes 2-3 days (can be sped up by exercising) to get into ketosis, after that the hunger isn't that much of a problem - hunger comes in waves, if you ride it out it disappears, these pangs do not last long while in ketosis - calorie restriction can be very hard if the diet still contains too much carbs so the body doesn't go into ketosis.. this means that the body can't efficiently use stored fat so you'll crave food and consume muscle tissue - I too have a cognitively demanding job, I was able to function during the fast - I had some sleep problems (but then, I always do) - if you're fasting you shouldn't lose that much muscle tissue, especially if you exercise (although you may need to take it a bit slower since ketones aren't produced fast enough to keep up with really intense prolonged exercise)
I just do a 24 h fast but I can swear I can smell bbq meat. Not sure it is me my imagination of some neighbour. But I noticed I can smell stuff I never noticed before.
Adding electrolytes to water during a fast will slightly blunt the healing potential of the fast. But yes, care needs to be taken and taking in electrolytes might help you move around more safely.
You're probably one of the few I believe we're really doing it. Yes yellowing under the eyes is normal. I've gotten black veins before. This isn't healthy and I don't know why everyone is doing this. Hunger strikers have died at 40-60 days. I've passed out and a stranger caught me before. Ive hadd feelings like parts of my brain were shutting off. Might of gotten brain damage. I did water. Sometimes drank a pop. Plus I believe the more times you do extended fasting the more likely you are to die. All your stored vitamins and stuff like calcium get pulled out of things like your bones.
@Robert Marley I had all sorts of other problems, but thought it was due to detox and your body shifting to ketones. Sometimes I felt like my body shutting down. What I did was I increases my sodium. Anyways, after my eyes began turning yellow, I immediately began refeeding.
Question: I understand the need to supplement sodium. However, what about some of the other dietary electrolytes, vitamins, minerals etc…? I set out to do a 5 day water fast and I was doing great for 3 days on just salt and water. I saw videos about using electrolyte supplements during a fast so I bought Ultima’s electrolytes on my 3rd day. After consuming the supplement my ass hole turned into an uncorked fire hydrant so I cut the fast short. A possible reason could be that I drank 2 servings all in one chug which may have shocked my system. It could also be that I’m particularly sensitive to one of the ingredients that I am not aware of. The electrolyte solution contains 0 sugar, fat, or protein. Just a mix of micronutrients. It is also sweetened with stevia and (natural) fruit flavors. Is it necessary to supplement other electrolytes? And if so is there a way to do so safely? Perhaps a product that is simply the raw substance without all the flavored ingredients?
I had burning cloudy pee after a 7 day water fast, I did take salts, but I didn't dissolve them, I just chugged them in my mouth like 5g of it at a time and flushed it down with water, Idk if that caused it...
Hybrid fast is more efficient. Dry fasting for five days and drink water on the fifth day and contknue like this has been more enjoyable from my own experience.
I think you are right on the money regarding the bilirubin. I've been doing a three day fast once a month for a while now. Twice, I've gotten a blood test immediately before and immediately after the fast. Both times my bilirubin was normal before and elevated (above 2) after the fast.
I've only fasted up to 15 days at a time. I had a light headache and occasionally got dizzy standing up to fast from laying down. When I fasted last summer I got palpitations when I stood up too fast so I ended my fast early.
Hello to all: you did it alone at home? And did you went to work? Wanna do it too, but Im a little afraid if theres no monitoring over the vitals etc.. Thank you
How much cheating is to do a supplement fast? i.e. consuming full electrolyte mixtures with sodium, potassium, mag, choliredes and vitamins? I find it's the only way I can go to do fasting while working at the same time without being dizzy all the time. Personally i'd need time off to do proper water fast and also doc supervision most likely
I am so glad I watched this video. I'm aiming for a 200 hour fast. I made myself electrolyte water thos morning. I didn't measure. I just took water added salt, magnesium powder and cream of tartar. Hopefully my pre package electrolytes tomorrow. I may go less hours if all signs of inflammation go away Either way I'm not going further than 8 days.
One of your best yet! A real life experience, a scientific breakdown of what's going on, a tip for mitigating symptoms and optimising health. Have you thought about doing it on other conditions, health journeys etc? Maybe refeeding syndrome?
Hello I have 28 years, healthy diet (mediterranean-like, all natural, no glucose spikes), 62kg (136lbs), 175cm. I take some supplementation like omega 3, vitamins, minerals, aminoacids, antioxidants, and more. I practice exercises like lifting, swimming and running. Do I have any reason to water fast? Is it safe to water fast having so little body fat? Do I have to stop taking supplementation during water fast? Can I keep my exercises during water fast?
What happens after 3 days of no food to the intestines where no food passes through it. And no excretion happens. Will it have any problem in regards to that?
I did a 14 day water fast long ago and I did pass out which was when I decided to end the fast. I think I was prone to passing out because my heart rate is lower than an average person, and I likely wasn’t taking enough electrolytes.
This is cool i wanna know if a guy drink protein shake 130g every day for 54days and a guy do water fast for 54 days would the guy that drink protein shake lose more bodyfat and keep more muscle then the guy that did water fast for 54days
If there is no fat or cabohydrates in that protein shake (which you probably imply) the guy on a 130g protein shake will loose or his proteine as he will be dead in couple of days. It's called protein poisoning. If there is an energy substrate in that protein shake (like fat or carbohydrates): It depends on how much energy and what kind. While doing a fast your energy metabolism slows down rapidly so you spare a lot of energy. So it is possible that someone with a particuar combination of protein and fat (carbohydrate is less likely) will loose the same or more as someone doing a water fast. But loosing the weight is not the point of a water fast and you will definitely regain some weight after refeeding...
