Perhaps one of the most polarizing players in the NHL in recent memory. Nazem Kadri has had a crazy journey throughout his career to get to the point he's at today. One thing is for certain. Nazem Kadri is one of the NHL's more resilient and entertaining superstars to watch.

Watching this in October 2022 - He has grown up so much and is honestly such an amazing role model. He stays authentically who he is, is confident and kind, and now a champ! He is going to make a huge impact in Calgary and already poised to be an amazing leader. I also love how prideful and energetic he is. I can't wait to see more of him!

Hoping Naz does good but please remember the League/Refs still have issues with him. Watching him last year being kicked out of the face-off circle happens every game.

I'm glad he had such a great year. The only people he proved wrong, are the people who said he couldn't make it through even 1 season without causing trouble for himself and his team. He watched his team get eliminated from the playoffs on 3 of his last 5 seasons while he wasn't allowed to play. Someone will pay him big time this year, but can they really count on him?
@hockeypsychology
@hockeypsychology Год назад
Me too. I think he's matured significantly but still, that's the risk you get when you pay for a player like Kadri. Should be interesting to see who throws him the bag this year.
@doug3512
@doug3512 Год назад
@@hockeypsychology maturation can only be measured in consistency. He had 11 years of being a problem. It's only been one year since his last playoff suspension. He'll need to finish his career playing like this season to convince me he's matured. But, at that point it will be too late.

Honestly this a very fair take, and I respect you covering the bad as well as the good. If you hurt one player, maybe it’s an accident, hurt two players, getting a little suspicious, hurt 5?? And these five instances are the only ones that are talked about because in each instance he actually caused the other player a serious injury. 5 players missed time in the NHL caused by injuries from the same guy, something to think about. He’s a dirty player. Overpaid too, one great year and he gets 7mil til he’s 39? Better hope for a cup soon because the contract is gunna suck in a few years.
@mikelombard21

Hes a dangerous player with bad intent, trying to hurt the other players with dirty, scummy hits. I dont think players like that belong in the NHL. He makes hits no one would think of making every and severely hurts people. Send him back to the minors with that crap.

AVS fan. I like Kadri and can attest that he’s largely changed his way since switching teams. Him telling his detractors to kiss his ass after the cup win is comical though. Managing to not get suspended this one year doesn’t negate the previous runs he may have affected with his extracurriculars. They don’t diminish the possibility of that going forward. Dude IS a liability, period. For him to think the perception should be different cause of this one time is beyond a joke.

Yeah now he’s a good role model but he didn’t use to be. His story is one of growth and maturity and actually taking the good criticism to heart while ignoring the bad. Side note, just because any team would want him doesn't mean anything about whether he deserves the hate. Any team would want any player deserving of the hate on their team precisely because of their ability to get under the other teams skin and attack other players

I wonder as FA continues if he comes back to the Avs on a discount
@JasonSmith-pe5py
@JasonSmith-pe5py Год назад
@@hockeypsychology If he comes back-think it'll be slight discount,but we only have like 3.9 million space.Can't expect him to take that MUCH less.Wed probably have to either buyout EJ-to save 4 million.(has 19 team no trade clause). I love EJ,but it's basically his cap hit that's hurting most.Or we trade Girard,or Compher. Hoping thats why its taking so long.For us to clear cap space-otherwise he could've signed elsewhere days ago.Who knows if we can do it.I wouldnt pull a Vegas,& trade Girard for nothing.But if we had to trade him for 50/60 cents on $ in picks/prospects-so be it. Girard has many "haters" among our fan base,& I've never got it.He has weaknesses,& struggled in Vegas series 2 yrs ago-but hes 1 of the better #3 dman in nhl,my opinion.But his skill set is kinda redundant on this team.Byram can do everything he can,& some things he cant.In my opinion,last yrs-Avs had best,& deepest blueline-not just in current NHL-but maybe in cap history.We did win 2.5 rounds without him last playoffs.With him-not only have best top pair in nhl-but basically "2-2nd pairs." But also a glaring top 6 hole if Kadri leaves.Rantanen could move to 2C-he did fine-when Kadri was out,but not his natural position,& still have a top 6 hole. Fortunately we play in the JV West-could probably wait til deadline,& be in OK playoff shape. Probably couldn't risk it,if we were in the East.East was vastly superior to West last yr,& seems the gap is getting larger.Waiting til the deadline is risky,& deadline prices are usually steep-especially if teams know you are desperate. In a cap sport,you can't have everything,or a perfect team.And to me-even if we lost Girard-still might have best current deffense-top 2 or 3 worstcase.Wouldn't be historic anymore-but also wouldn't have a major top 6 hole.With Makar,Toewes,Byram,Manson,EJ,JJ,(not offical-but hearing he's coming back)Hunt(FA signing),& Mcdonald/McDermott as #8,& #9.To me still no current nhl with a better defense-though Girard would definitely be missed.

I blame it mostly on the incompetency of the Toronto Maple Leaf Organization. In their infinite wisdom, they kept Nazrim in the manures longer than he should have. The Organization conditioned their fans to dislike him from the get go. When have someone as gifted as he is (wheels, puckhandling, shot, playmaker, courage). Nazim has more heart beating in his chest than the 2 much celebrated Leaf stars who don't mind losing. There is fight in Nazim and it's rare when a player can be extremely talented AND possess the will to go through the wall for the Team. The 2 Leaf stars just turn the other cheek. The Leafs may never another Cup. These fools hired Shahahan and he built the Shana Plan (be rewarded for failure with high feast choices...brilliant). They hired a kid who was a fancy stats guru for GM! They had their players where Black Lives Matters jerseys and now the hired Haley for A/GM. TORONTO is a fools paradice. Nazim landed in Colorado with players like him who will anything to win the game or a championship.

Thank You for showing Naz. He is much loved with Avs fans. To watch and listen to Binnington state it was his 'God Given Right' to throw a water bottle at Kadri. He also referred to him as 'He or Him' my goodness he can't say his name shows what a racist Binnington is. The only thing I hope for is that Naz has put the Blues on a team he doesn't want to play for. I also give a lot of credit to Sakic and Bednar for supporting Naz this season.

Always liked Naz as a skilled, edgy, physical player, but then he started getting suspended for predatory hits. However, when he took highly costly penalties in the post-season against Boston in 17/18 & 18/19 back to back, my ability to excuse him evaporated. He hurt his team. Period. Then he did it in the playoffs a 3rd time, now with the Avs. If he hadn't gotten himself suspended I believe he may have likely been the difference in both 7 game defeats. He was a top 6 player plus critical PP guy & the Leafs 2nd line centre in 2017/18 and a very valuable # 3 behind Matthews & Tavares in 2018/19. His absences were very costly to Toronto both times. So when he won the Cup I was happy for him, but his classless comment about how "it proves I wasn't a liability in the post-season, so you can kiss my ass" tells me he just doesn't get it. He was a liability three different times, so own it & don't make comments about your past actions that are quite simply, until this year, untrue.
