I don't get why so many dudes are so freaked out by periods. It's never bothered me, and girls seem to expect guys to be mortified at the thought, which I can't really blame them for either.

I needed to see this video, as someone who is on the "fluffier" side I always had a ton of feminine products going with me to parks. Safe I thought to have what I need and not be caught off guard. Except when our local theme park started implementing bag checks and well.... the guard literally took out my entire pack of pads and seemed to stand there like "what is this..." and then got a female guard to come over. I remember she sighed and looked at me and said "sorry about that I am gonna guess my colleague didn't have sisters growing up... here's some coupons for in the park for your inconvenience today, also... thanks this sort of identified something we need to train our male guards on more." I felt still rather mortified, but then just remember thinking to myself "could be worse at least I don't have any weird pierces for the metal detectors" lol

To be fair, the phrase “don’t open that!” sets off sooooooo many red flags at airport security.

Ya know this might be because I was raised by a single mom, or maybe I'm just wired wrong, but I could never understand why people get squeamish about women's periods, or at least other guys. I mean really, it's just something that happens every once in a while, and it's perfectly natural it's no worse than any other bodily fluid.

Can you imagine being behind her in line? The security guard takes out a small bag, she looks panicked, and stares him in the eyes. She says forcefully, “you don’t want to open that bag.” His face goes pale and he stops moving. “I don’t want to open this bag.” He puts the bag back and she looks relieved, and goes about her day, with the guard looking flustered and refusing to acknowledge it. I would legit assume she was a Jedi.

5 years too late, yeah, but I got a funny story here. Once in a family vacation with my parents & sister through Europe, we were gonna take an early flight, which meant we hardly had time for breakfast before running to the airport. Now, my mom swiftly prepared some sandwiches for breakfast while everyone else packed, and after that we ran off to catch the bus to the airport. Once we got there, we went through customs, everyone else passed with no problems, but the customs lady stopped me, which was weird because I had gone through 2 other airports and had no issues so far, she rumbled through my backpack and with a very accusatory motion pulled a jar of mayo out of my bag, as if saying "you were trying to snuggle this but *I* caught you red handed!!!" Turns out my mom just threw all of the ingredients she used for the sandwiches into her bag, but couldn't fit the mayo anymore, and just tossed it into my backpack and told no one because we were in a rush, but the mayo was... I guess a bit larger than the limit for liquids in a plane. And that's the story of the third time I was technically caught breaking the law by a law enforcing officer.

Once my poor,unknowing, innocent little sister walked out of her room,into the hallway,and pointed to the pad I was holding (because we keep that sorta stuff in the bathroom and I don't live there) and she said "*insert cute nickname she has for me here* what's that thing in your hand?" And I just look at her with this look of absolute _terror_ and I blush and say,"Um,it's older girl stuff...yeah...KAY BYE" and dash into my room and slam the door... CRISIS AVERTED

They learned a very valuable lesson that day. They must have been new, and the others knew what kind of things to expect, hence why they looked without touching.

One time when my family was at Disneyland and getting our bags checked, the guy checking my little sister's bag was about to confiscate a back scratcher. A BACK SCRATCHER. He thought it was a selfie stick and said it was a hazard. So my dad told him it wasn't and from what I can remember, he gave it back. But, how do you mistake a back scratcher for a selfie stick?

As a former Disney Security guard let me tell you that I've seen a few intimate... "toys" in ladies purses.

Something I don't think I made very clear was the fact that no security guard at Disney is suppose to take things out of you bag unless he/she has LOOKED INSIDE first and thinks the object is questionable. Naturally, this is to protect the security guard from hazardous materials and to minimize the inconveniencing/embarrassment of the guest. And considering I have watched Disney security guards only LOOK INSIDE my bag for years (which I stated twice in the video), you can imagine how startled I was when a guard started taking out every item from my bag and showing it to everyone in the security line. That being said, I now have to explain a menstrual cup to really hit the message home. A menstrual cup goes inside the vagina to catch period blood. It's also reusable. Mine was clean, but it had been used before. So please forgive me if I didn't want a complete stranger holding (and showing to the rest of the line) something that has been in my vagina. Kind of common decency and a sentiment I'm sure most people with periods can understand. And once again, the guy shouldn't have been pulling my stuff out of my bag one by one anyways. That, in general, is why I was upset. Forgive me if all of that did not come across in my story. It's tough making videos on my own when I don't constantly have someone else's fresh eyes on my work throughout the process. This was a story I wanted to tell, but I had trouble navigating the potentially sensitive material. But I have learned a lot from what you all have had to say. So next time, I will try to do better by all of you. Thank you for your input and have a good day, Explainers!

In all honesty I think I'm comfortable enough with my period that I would've told the guy "That's a menstrual cup in case you're wondering. Please don't open the bag I need this thing to stay clean." But I can understand how unsettling that was when you're used to people never taking things out of your bag.

The security guard reminded me of when I was in Japan and forgot my deodorant in my purse and had to be taken to the side to have my bag inspected. My security guy (a young fella as well) rummaged through my belongings, found the deo, but instead of just throwing it away/giving me a warning, be proceded to OPEN it up and SMELLED IT! He came to his sense when he noticed my very confused/shocked face and quickly put the lid on again and put it back in my bag while blushing. That was... interesting. XD

As a kid back in 1985, Epcot never had screening and security guards.. Only park employees were the ones that let you in.. They never search you or talked to you, just raise your palm where you were stamped when you were admitted into the park and you're in..

Wow” just what an interesting day that must have been for that little guard...

everyone saying "he was just doing his job", no. i go to disneyland frequently and they do NOT check this thoroughly. 1. it holds up the line 2. it's an invasion of privacy, and 3. a weapon would be pretty noticeable in a small bag like that. i hope that worker learned his lesson and stopped putting his hands on other people's stuff.

every year some people from the school staff come to check what we have in our bags and cupboards, and check if we have something wrong. here's something that happened; so, we were just waiting, one woman and one man was checking our backpacks and cupboards. and, this woman was checking my friend's bag. she had nothing bad in her backpack so she was relaxed. then, this weird woman found an, apple in her bagpack, she awkardly stared at it and asked her what that was. she was holding a god damn apple.

Around 4:00; Nice voice crack at the end there. Considering that in a different video, you said you have a bunch of different audio recordings to sift through, I find it interesting that this one made the cut. No intentional judgement, just a fact I noticed.

My mom used to seek snacks into the movie theaters, in fact she even makes me hide fruit snacks in my bra sometimes. But most of the time, she puts a crap ton of tampons ontop of the snacks so nobody asks. One day a young man pulled out one of the tampons and said "Sneaking in candy, aye?" real smug. My mom rolled her eyes and told him what it was. The look on that dude's face was priceless.
