Other Mentions: - Baboon Hawks only take scrap from ship if forced into ship (or have a nest under the ship but shouldn't happen in v50) - They do also get attacked by dogs and can attack dogs/giants
@@jbier146 they do indeed attack dogs and kill them as I've seen it happen in large groups. I can't confirm giants as I haven't seen them together before
one update took these pests from "ah its just one/two baboon hawks we're good just tell 'em to fuck off" to "holy shit that's so many" and then you're shutting the ship doors to keep them out on the other hand, you can watch an episode of national geographic on Adamance if dogs spawn too and you can watch them tussle (hopefully).
Adamance has had its scrap nerfed, and the way back to the ship is really annoying. Honestly I believed it should’ve been a higher tier moon to start off due to its danger and its loot, but if it’s going to be a lower tier moon it needs to be made safer.
yeah I'd probably prefer a dog or giant tbh. Dogs you just crouch and take it slow, giants you just hide behind literally anything even if its thin. These fuckers if there's 2 or more and you're not close to ship you're just done.
6:13 While noise doesn't inherently scare them off, it _does_ increase the player threat level by one, and therefore increase their fear. The only loud noises that apply are "noisemaker props", of which there are only four: Airhorns Cash Registers Clownhorns Hairdryers No other sounds from any other source or item will scare them
You got a source for that? My partner and I have been questioning the noise rumour for some time so it would be great if this was the answer. I don’t doubt you, but I wish to see for myself before I spread this info around.
@@SuperSwamper69 I've decompiled the code myself The player script implements "IVIsibleThreat" to communicate fear to the baboon hawk, and it has a number of things that can modify the threat level it reports, including one of you've used a noise maker prop within a short period of time (something like half a second, I forget the exact time)
I had no idea they were this fleshed out in their behavior. So by default, you should think about being intimidating enough they don’t even want to mess with you. Look at them, hold a shovel, be with a friend. But if there’s a bunch of factors that are less in your control and making you seem less intimidating (later in the day, injured, carrying heavy stuff) then it’s better to try to get below 0 fear level by looking away and putting away your shovel so they don’t feel like you’re challenging them. If you’re too vulnerable, they will consider you easy prey, which at that point you will want to take out your shovel and might as well fight them with it. So it’s this really interesting sort of negotiation you make with them where you need to guess what they see you as, all based on their fear level: 5 or higher: “this human is really tough, I shouldn’t mess with him” 0 to 4: “this human is pretty threatening, but I feel confident enough to fight back to protect my family” -6 to -1: “this human is chill, I don’t need to waste my energy fighting him” -7 or below: “I’m feeling a pit peckish and this delicious looking human is so weak and disadvantaged that he might as well salt and pepper himself and lay down on my dinner plate. Snatching a meal this free is a no-brainer”
W guide, fun fact: baboon hawks spawn in pairs. Also when they hear something all they do is look at it, and if they’re sleeping they wake up. They’re also scared of you, dogs, giants and radmechs. If they fight a giant, they win, since giants can’t attack enemies.
Been seeing so many people complaining about Bhawks lately so was hoping someone would make a guide on it. I always just run past them without looking at them and they never do anything. I've only died a single time to Baboon Hawks and that's because they were running by as i jumped out the ship.
@@pikminologueraisin2139 adamance has the loot to be worth going to, but the map size is too large with a tiny multiplier you're lucky to leave with 500+ without bees
I think Zeekers sneakily changed the way enemies spawn on all maps. I’ve been getting tons of spawns at 1pm even on beginner maps and I had a giant spawn at 11 am on assurance and adamance
Depends, because you either want to get below 0 or above 4 Easiest way to get above 4 is to hold a defensive weapon look at it and be above 30hp with a friend, to get below it is easier just don't look at it when your far from ship
It’s pretty intricate, and I had no idea they were this fleshed out in their behavior. Basically, they will attack if you’re vulnerable (easy prey) or if THEY are vulnerable (self defense), but not if they’re TOO vulnerable (survival instinct says to skidaddle) By default, think about being intimidating enough they don’t even want to mess with you. So it’s this really interesting sort of negotiation you make with them where you need to guess what they see you as, all based on their fear level. Remembering as much of the info at 3:28 as you can will help you determine which state the baboon hawk is in: 5 or higher: “this human is really tough, I shouldn’t mess with him” 0 to 4: “this human is pretty threatening, but I feel confident enough to fight back to protect my family” -6 to -1: “this human is chill, I don’t need to waste my energy fighting him” -7 or below: “I’m feeling a pit peckish and this delicious looking human is so weak and disadvantaged that he might as well salt and pepper himself and lay down on my dinner plate. Snatching a meal this free is a no-brainer”
For getting them to stop being mad, it doesn’t matter (distance does, farther means switch faster), for getting them to be mad, it matters. It will be a factor in only some cases, but in general it is better practice to keep out of the ranges 0-4 and below -6.
0:51 So what was the damage in v49 lol? Is the difference big? Felt weird how you gave the stat comparison for everything in that segment but then just said it's less for the damage 😅
@@chboo1897 Thanks 🙏 Was hoping he'd see this and add it to his pinned comment, as it's really just bad practice to randomly leave that number out while mentioning the comparison for all the previous points :/
so im a little confused, do you want their fear level to be high or not? what's their default fear level? also, it's good to know that while they're aggressive, they path toward your move direction. that'll probably make it a bit easier to deal with them in the future
@@chboo1897 idk if im stupid or not but i rewatched the part where he explains it and i never heard where he specifies the starting fear level. my confusion also stems from the fact that the baboon hawks get angry from points 0-4 and also less than -6 (?). idk why but that just doesn't function in my brain properly
@@texticks I meant when you said they path toward your direction is in the video, but in reality it isn't that important, just being far enough away from them is usually enough for them not to attack.
yooo i finaly found the mod ive been looking for, i needed a mod for godmode so i dont have to reset run, but tells me if i wouldve died. for practicing. Imperium
I had a loot bug chase me down yesterday, not aggressive but following me until it got mad from being too close, is that new or have i just not seen before?
One question, what does the point system for fear start at? If its 0 then are you instantly prone to attack? That part confused me a bit.... like if i walk out with a shovel and my buddies will we instantly get swarmed because we are +4 points?
If you’re shoving them into a wall it won’t really work because at some point you will run into them or stand still for a second and then they will hit you.
The way the title is put makes me think that this is deeper than what's going on in the Bohemian Grove. Heck, the baboon hawks ARE in the Bohemian Grove, my new headcannon
5 things that i dont like on v50: 1- Jester being less avoidable making the run super sheet. 2 - Not run and crouch made the game sooooo much more slow, and somewhat take out Artifice, Rend and Dine dynamics too. 3 - Butler spawns too much on Dine, again making me not wanting to go there. 4 - Bee Butler being invencible. 5 - Adamance having too much monsters spawn. In early v50 betas verisons Adamance was balanced, good loot and good amount of monsters, but now, i dont think its worth it.
