Show Notes:
The fountain of youth is a mythical spring that has been the basis of many Hollywood movies and cosmetic marketing campaigns! Our obsession with youth and being young forever has been the source of cosmetic surgery and endless stories of ‘back in my day’.
David Sinclair is a Professor in the Department of Genetics and co-Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging at Harvard Medical School. As a professor, scientific investigator and co-founder of multiple biotech companies, his knowledge with epigenetics and reverse aging is highly regarded among professional colleagues in the industry. He’s appeared on dozens of podcasts, written books, and hosts his own podcast, Lifespan. As a guest on Health Theory the conversations around reverse aging and biological clocks are more than enlightening.
Finding the root cause to aging and understanding how diet, exercise, and lifestyle choices impact our aging process puts the power of perspective and knowledge within your control. You don’t have to guess or hope for a mythical spring of magical water that holds the secret of youth. You can make a decision everyday to turn back the clock, slow the aging process, and reset your age.
SHOW NOTES:

0:12 | Daily Hacks to Slow Aging
28:50 | How to Reset Your Age
58:43 | This Causes Aging
1:32:23 | How to Understand Aging
QUOTES:
“80% of your longevity and health in old age is controllable and only 20% is dictated by your genes, the genome. The rest is your epigenome that responds to how we live [7:36]
“Our livers are much smarter than our eyes and our mouths…” [24:35]
“Anything that stresses your body, puts it into a state of shock is good in the long run.” [38:16]
“When I boiled it down to its essence I realized aging was a loss of information.” [1:01:58]
“That’s part of the problem with aging, which is genes getting turned on when they should be kept off for decades, and then cells start to get confused.” [1:14:17]

I've watched IT since start of 2020 - one of the best RU-vid shows made. The most impactful things to keep young are: 1. Whole day FASTING or intermittent fasting 2. Get rid of or reduce refined sugar and refined carbs! 3. Mostly whole and organic foods 4. Micronutrient density - vitamins/minerals 5. Ditch inflammatory vegetable oils 6. Sleep well in darkness and stay cool at night 7. Exercise using sprinting/resistance training 8. Breathe work and meditation - parasympathetic style 9. Get social, find a partner, have connections 10. Find enjoyment and solid routine Bonuses: Trans resveratrol, metformin, cold water therapy - research before implementing anything

I've followed Dr. Sinclair, read his book and follow most his protocols...EXCEPT for the the mostly vegetarian diet. I fas till noon and eat lots of meat and some veggies, and occasional fruit. No sugar or booze. I'm 63, 5'9" and 160 pounds. This the same wieght as high-school...except I'm stronger. I can do 20 pull-ups. I can run for an hour in the heat or cold without discomfort. This feels superhuman. I don't think I would be as vital or as happy 20 pounds lighter and weaker. I think Dr. Sinclair will probably live longer, but this intensity and power is too fun to give up. Tony, all, I am mesmerised and astounded by, and in awe of Dr David Sinclair and what he has achieved so far. I've watched every interview with him and podcast I can find. Some of his interviewers ask him dumb questions or talk about out themselves a lot. By contrast Tony your questions are refreshingly relevant, intelligent and often unique and unexpected, but always absolutely valid. It's clear that you've read and understood his book. Some of your questions to David are so unique that I expect them to flummox him. But have you noticed something? Never does he “Um” or “Ah” or hesitate or give a vague answer. Every time he instantly returns a confident, clear and unambiguous answer, without fail. That speaks volumes to me, confirming that he knows the subject very deeply. When David’s information theory of aging is eventually proven right and generally accepted, I believe will go down in history as one of the greatest ever scientists.

My friends and family often tell me that my predictions for the future are mostly negative and frightening. Once, a few years ago, I started thinking about it. As it usually happens when something touches our emotions, I had a dream that night. In my dream, I knew that I was dreaming of positive events that would happen in the future. Dream: First, our Xenia appeared in front of me, she was then about 7- 8 years old. She was holding a ball of light in her hands. Before my eyes she started growing up, changing, and I saw an image of a beautiful girl she would become in the future. A ball of light grew with her, while she continued holding it in her hands. Then, the scene has changed: I was standing next to Irina, and, even no words were exchanged, I started receiving information which conveyed the idea that even during our lifetime, it will become possible to extend our life once, and then once again. (I'm 53, Irine's 75.) Interpretation: I see this dream as quite direct and clear. The ball of light in the hands of Xenia symbolizes individuality. It was only after this dream that I began to search, and I learned a lot of interesting things about anti-aging, as well as about people like Ronald Klatz, Robert Goldman, David Sinclair, and others.

Others should include the Bible. God and his word make it very clear that we are to be healthy and live a long life. The world has taught us to become old & sick and live the lifespan that the world teach us to expect. Moses died at 120. He was not weak, stooped & had no dimness of vision. This is clearly stated so that we can easily understand what God has planned for us. 🙏🙏

Good content ...thanks for sharing. One pet peeve of mine is the broad use of the term 'carbs' in this and many other serious discussions to describe dietary items to avoid. If we use it to mean 'carbohydrates' then it's important to understand that carbohydrates are everywhere. I think it's very important first to, at minimum, distinguish between simple and complex carbohydrates (which includes fiber, starch, glyocogen, etc) in in-depth conversations. Many people, on what they call a 'keto' diet, talk about how their diet avoids carbs ...but what they are really avoiding is simple/processed/poor quality carbohydrates. It is quite possible to enter ketosis while largely ingesting complex carbohydrates, as many plant-based eaters do. I very rarely hear acknowledgement of that.
@hata6290

Agree. Carb is bantered around now in general use without being specific around what category of carbs. I eat a truck ton of vegetables and berries and don’t consider my diet low carb at all. I don’t eat potatoes for no other reason than I don’t like them. Much to the horror of my Irish father! I don’t eat heavily processed refined carbs. As stated my diet is not low carb. Your right about keto as many avoid all good carbs also so defining low carb is important to the listener. 😃

It's tough but it's not that tough especially if you reward yourself in your eating window. I worked in a restaurant, fast food, and Culver's. And I did an 18-hour fast every day while smelling all that food cooking and I barely had a problem. But that's because once 8:00 rolled around I sampled every single thing in the restaurant within reason
@Vshamann336
@Vshamann336 Год назад
I also worked out everyday on this fast and for a while I was running 6 miles every night, and this is after I woke up around 4:30 and want to work all the way till 5:00. So it can't be that hard, if I could do it. Granted I can wheel through just about anything I choose I didn't do it that way. Now I had to cut some cardio out because I'm looking to build more muscle. And I've been having mixed results with that and fasting. So far I found you can do it but you hit a plateau and it's hard to peekk past it

At 36 minutes - explanation of how metformin works on AMKP to initially poison mitochodria seeking rebirth/energy and then in the long run production of more mitochondria's to produce more energy. Correct? My question - when we talk about Zone 2 training or shall I say training to improve fat threshold; we are squeezing the mitochondrial capacity to its best depending on its health. Right? But then we persist with zone 2 training to improve the threshold and we do that very easily in a few sessions from my experience. Can we call this effect the same as metformin? Producing more mitochondria's to produce more energy to eventually improve fat threshold? Because the logic is same - stress the system. But since we have multiple energy systems, we must resort to a certain training that stress the mitochodrial capacity. Makes sense?

David Sinclair has commonly stated on interviews these 100% meat diets are high in amino acids and thus activate MTOR. This is like burning a candle at both ends, so yes you should expect to feel better in the short term by eating lots of meat. In twenty years… you should expect to have aged more than 20 biological years. Edit: actually, this is the very first topic they covered in this video.

@TomBilyeu, Interesting how you reschuffled this interview and republished it pushing the story that you had in the introduction about the Poker dealer having a stroke and then dying afterwards, to the second half of the video. Was this to minimize the attention to this as many people will comment theorizing that this was likely a Backsine related death and not related to normal aging? Or just to avoid RU-vid algorithms demonetization? I’m curious to hear the reasoning, ‘cause initially I thought this was a follow up interview but then I thought it was an extended version of the interview, when it was just a reschuffed version with some commercials in the middle. By the way this was a great interview, that’s why I didn’t mind watching it twice.

If I could talk to DAVID I would tell him I volunteer to be in any clinical trial when he needs humans I would be honored to volunteer my basic thing is not actually to look younger even though I do I can’t believe how much younger I am a walking talking miracle seriously I am I have beat the odds so many times my first experience was when I was only a couple months old when I got my skull cut open where my mom said you could see my brain I’m glad I don’t remember it but I know it’s there in my mind somewhere and then I have 100 stories or so of my will to live I fight to live I was born with congenital scoliosis I have been fighting against that my whole life so I won’t be humped over and I got Covid if that’s what it was in 2018 January 1 is when I ended up in the hospital I believe they were calling it coronavirus or covet Sar some I don’t know but it was bad it was horrible I just wanted to die and go to heaven but the Lord had different plans for my life easy when I was in my early 20s I moved by your Health food store I fell in love with the way you can heal your body with your mind with faith and the will to live and HELP from David Sinclair yes there are no words created yet to explain how important this gentleman is how wonderful he has how loving he is and how caring he is for humanity You’re probably not gonna like this but the only other person that I think really cares about humanity that I’ve had the privilege of meeting is Elon Musk but that’s a whole different story either love him or hate him

So, yes I want to live a long life and also be healthy enough to enjoy it and not need care or to be a burden rather than a blessing. According to the Bible, the lifespan that Gods has prepared for us, 60 is middle age. Moses died at 120 with no weakness, was not stooped and had no dimness of vision. The world has taught us that we must become “old & sick” and die before what should be our time. I choose life!🙏🙏
