Aging seems to be all fun and games until you pass legal drinking age. Some people begin to age much sooner than others, while others seem to have golden genetics of youth on their side. What if you found out that scientific research is now able to reverse your biological clock up to 3 years? You may be skeptical, you may be curious, or you may be excited for what this means to your future. Dr. Kara Fitzgerald is a functional medicine physician and clinical director that just published a new book for the non-medical people trying to improve their health and age more gracefully called Younger You. She’s joining Tom and revealing everything you don’t know about methylation and epigenetics, why it matters to you and the simple things you can do to gain back 3 years of your biological clock in roughly 8 weeks.
Check out Dr. Kara Fitzgerld’s Younger You: amzn.to/3vsez5T

My anit-aging tip would be to always listen to your body and remain interospective. You will find that you go through periods of high stress where many things will happen in a short period of time, followed by periods of low-stress. Throughout an entire year I go through bursts of energy where I get everything done followed by periods of calm and lots of meditation sessions. I think this is the key: to understand your cycles. Go 1 for 1 :)

Like EBV, and Zooster.(is what they say is called long covid) The problem is that the mitochondria will act as a battle so and try to destroy these with free radicals. So people usually get fatigued quickly.... I think the DNA damage gets accelerated... people get cancer and all kinds of aging diseases.

This message is for someone who needs to hear this and will fully understand it... You are not define by your circumstance or your past. It’s not what happened to you that determines your success in life; it is how you deal with those circumstances that determines your success in life. You are strong, you are capable and practice forgiveness (Forgiveness is for you; forgive your parents or anyone whom we have chosen to hurt us, to begin the process of healing and freedom. Remember: Forgiveness is for you to be freed, healed and happy) and practice gratitude everyday. This will change the course of your life forever. Well a 10 days fast quadruples the concentration of fgf21 in your blood. Fgf21 is the major lifespan and health markers enhancer produced by your liver. You can also enhance its production by reducing the consumption of the amino acid methionine, basically either by eating modtly plant protein. You can also just reduce animal protein consumption to the rda levels, roughly 50g per day.

As Tom would describe himself as a lazy carnivore in his eating style why was there no discussion about meat? I have been noticing this a lot lately, a lot of people advocating eating plants and either ignoring meat or trying to demonize it. A bit strange since it is one of the most nutritionally dense foods.
@markaguilera493
@markaguilera493 Год назад
But there's methionine... Methionine ages us thus offsetting the benefits of the nutrition. Meat is like steroids : you grow big, fast, but sooner or later it takes its toll. You can chose to live in the fast lane eating lots of meat but know you'll crash sooner.
@geekyboytop

@@markaguilera493 The jury is really still out on what you are saying. Dr. David Sinclair has published something to this effect and while the mice lived longer they went sarcopenic which is a huge problem with a human in the marginal decade. When you look at the statistics one of the biggest problems with older people is falling and breaking a hip or a limb which makes them immobile. This is due to a lack of skeletal muscle. In addition to fall protection having more skeletal muscle going into older age promotes proper disposal glucose and better production and utilization of other hormones. So here is my thought I am betting on protein and muscle where I can live strong into old age instead of plants first and being frail with some promise that I could live longer (not necessary better) if I do not fall and break my hip. The statements above are from Dr. Peter Attia who Dr. Sinclair is a regular guest.

@@geekyboytop Most centenarians and supercentanarians aren't exactly muscular. Now did they get to their old age on high protein or low protein? I've never read a review explaining their old age could be explained by the habit of eating high protein past the age of 60 year. The only supercentanarians whose diet comes to mind is Emma Morano, 117. 3 eggs a day, and a few ounces of mince meat. A total of 40g of protein at most. We're well within the limits of a methionine restricted diet.

@@markaguilera493 as you said no way to know however one thing is for sure, these people hit the genetic lottery since some of them didn’t really live the healthiest live and not smoke. The trauma that was passed on for generations that can clearly be seen today. We have to be better for our future generations. “You weren’t a slave you didn’t have to deal with that…,” well according her I still am. What does that mean for white people in that time. Is that one of the reasons they look at us as inferior(most subconsciously) even today? Hmmmm this has me thinking.

Yeaaah... Weston A Price and many others already figured out the importance of nutrients and nutrition..... and also, what about oxalates? ..... Well obviously Kara got something right. Oxalate aren't a problem if you don't overdo them. Is 7 cups of veggies tons of veggies?.. Especially if your gutfloras on point. Beware of demonization of single foods or macros. It's all a matter of context.

I was a Christian I became a Muslim our religion is the last and the supreme religion, we believe in all the prophets of the past, we believe in their greatness and that they are the most perfect people, our religion has 5 basic principles, the word is faith, that is, saying Allah is one, praying 5 times a day, fasting for 1 month in Ramadan a year, if you are rich, a pilgrimage on your life. If you are rich, to go is to give 40 percent of your wealth to the poor

I'm struggling with the concept of stress, trauma and and exercise habits being passed down through the generations. That would mean you have to get your act together very early, by the time you have children, which is generally pretty young. Most people are in their 50s before they work out what the hell has been going on.
@jakeylakey619

The Native Americans didn’t use the term epigenetics but they had a belief that traumas are passed down through generations, along with resilience and such. Makes me think of Apopcalypto when the father told his son not to look at that tribe displaying fear. It’s infectious. Not to be long winded but I believe it. And it’s not so much we have to get it together early, as that we need to we aware of this fact and be sure to pass that knowledge on.

The premise of this Chanel is good, however, he is a major interruptor of the people who actually have the deep information, also, his need to monetize his Chanel is super super annoying and self fulfilling.

Running the channel costs money. The guests are paid, the cameraman, and video editors all cost money. Monetizing is a good thing because it adds to the quality of the production.

In the past to recieve this information you would have had to pay for a class or a book. The closest may have been an interview on a talk show, but shows cost money for the same reasons, to pay for production. That is why the had/have advertising. Other than a library how would you propose this information make it to people at no cost to the producers/presenters?
