I feel like that's where the story was built to go, then the author got a big head, her husband cheated on her with a trans person, and she lost her talent... so Hermione ended up with ron rather than harry. harry was always meant to follow in dumblestores footsteps as a teacher. Leaving out Neville Longbottom's backstory bothered me a bit with the movies. He was born the same day as Harry, so the prophecy applied to him as well until Voldemort went to Harry first coz Lily was a muggleborn wizard and thought that it was Harry coz Voldemort was muggleborn too. In a way though Neville did fulfil the prophecy coz he killed Nagini, which made Voldemort mortal for Harry to kill him.

I think it's strange how some people seem to have "turned" on the character recently. Maybe that's just my misconception, but it seems as if the tragic twist in the finale made people forget what a petty sociopath Snape was throughout the series - only to remember years later and resume hating him because of it. However, I think it's the reason why Snape's character is the best. He's not a plain "noble, misunderstood hero." The idea that he is struggling to save people he viscerally hates is much more unique and complex than if he was fighting for the ones he loves.

It's always weird to me how in the first movie, Ollivander says the wand chooses its wizard, and then later on they make up these rules that you lose ownership if you get disarmed or lose a duel. Your wand just thinks you suck at this magic thing and gives up on you lol.
@clover2739
@clover2739 Год назад
It depends on the wand core, the wands do choose the wizards but the core of the wands also determine if they are more loyal or drawn to power and stuff
@deldarma4509
@deldarma4509 Год назад
The elder wand is a special case amongst wands. the elder wand is a temperamental asshole, litterally made by death to doom its wearer to conflict. Its very powerful and it works for anyone that won it. Harry disarms plenty of people and several times, he has to use the wands of other wizards. Most of the time they don't work very well for him or it's a struggle because their magic clashes. He keeps using Draco's wand after he disarms him because it flows pretty well with his magic and his own holly wand is broken.
@solcohen9042
@solcohen9042 Год назад
The wand does choose the wizard, that’s still true. Even Ollivander says that wand makers don’t completely understand them. If u disarm someone, that wand is now “likely” answer to u. But it’s still up to the wand. It might stay loyal to its previous owner. Harry got lucky with Draco’s wand and part of it probably had to do with the core of Draco’s wand being a unicorn hair, they don’t work too well with dark magic. The elder wand is just a very unique wand and always changes hand.

Once again this isn't a call out post, its just other people talk like Harry could get with anyone, and thats weird, but that status is also one of the many reasons why a competitive self assured lady like Hermione wouldn't be interested in dating 'The Chosen One'. He's really controlling, he's easily jealous, and he constantly displays inferiority complexes due to his best friend being the Chosen One and his love interest being objectively better than him in every way. if Hermoine existed in real life people in her life would be kind of concerned why she settled for Ron lmao. That’s literally physical abuse? She also deliberately goes with people and acts a certain way to make Ron jealous and would put him down because she’s annoyed he’s with a girl in this is when she’s 16 which is older than Ron when he acted in that jealous way at 14… yet people act like Hermione is so mature and way too good for Ron and Ron is so toxic… like she’s not any better, and sometimes even worse. Also not that it matters but Hermione isn’t hot either, that’s kind of the point plus Ron doesn’t think slavery is okay, what he does think that it should be the elves choice and doesn’t like how Hermione is going about it because she’s stressing the elves out with the way she’s trying to force them. Ron never said he’s fine with slavery, but what he didn’t like was the fact that Hermione was knitting hats and socks and hiding them to force the elves free which the elves themselves didn’t like because that change shouldn’t be forced onto them and because of that they refused to clean I’m the gryffindor common room so poor dobby had to do it all himself. Ron thinks that Hermione shouldn’t have done that but should instead leave the hats and socks out in the open so the house elves know what they are picking up and can take it at their own pace. Hermione literally kisses Ron in the first place because Ron was concerned about the house elves and was saying that they need to let the house elves know what’s happening and tell them to escape so they aren’t in danger. I know Ron has his obvious flaws but people tend to act like Hermione is perfect when she’s also not any bette plus at times even more insensitive than Ron due to her wanting to be right all the time.

No dramatic fight or him overpowering her, she's just dead on the ground and the bastard is feasting on her flesh. I morbidly love scenes like this. Just like the scene from Apocalypto where the guy is just standing there holding his innards in his hands, too shocked to comprehend the situation he's in... There's something horrifyingly beautiful in scenes like this. It's realistic to a worrying degree. 99.9% of deaths happen like this. No drama, just at one point you're living your life and in the next you're being devoured by a werewolf. Definitely one of my favourite scenes from the Deathly Hallows. It comes out of nowhere and you can't even properly react to it. Packs a punch it does.

I was listening to music with earbuds in, and I climbed onto the railroad track and continued walking home. I was too afraid to take my own life, so I thought I could do it if I wasn't sure it would happen. I'm typing this, so of course I chickened out. @@loulabelle5082 You're certainly right, but there's more to it, too. Sometimes they just change stuff that works in the book to include it in the movie and then it doesn't make sense in the story. Like when they visit Harry's parents' grave. They get there under the invis cloak, see the streets entirely empty and only take off the cloak on Harry's insistence once they're at the grave. They don't just walk up to his house in broad daylight, they go to the graveyard at dusk and on the way they find out it's Christmas eve. And I'm pretty sure they actually put the cloak back on to leave and are then "seen" despite being invisible, by Bathilda. Which is your first hint that there's something more to her. Just thinking about these scenes has me gushing with nostalgia and wonder. From the melancholic christmas they find themselves in, to the seemingly random grave that's actually a hint towards Harry's ancestry tying him in with the three brothers.

They kind of hint and foreshadow it earlier in the books when hermoine gets slashed by bellatrix and immediately is like "lmao i know every spell" and then is shocked when it doesn't work to close her wound and she just has to run and deal w it normally. which is why in the books they don't just stand there and watch him die, harry runs to him and ron tries to drag hermoine there, who is the only one know knows whats really going on, yelling that harry needs to step back so she can help and she just has to explain it to them while he dies. p rough.

This may seem strange, but when I first read the book as a teenager I remember being fascinated with the character of Griphook. To do him justice, he's a much less openly villainous character there than in the film. His reaction to being saved by Harry from Bellatrix is very strange, but also very interesting - he's not teary-eyed and overtly grateful, as you would expect, but puzzled why Harry, a wizard, would save him, a goblin. Throughout their interactions he remains on his guard to the point of annoying Harry, who doesn't quite understand where Griphook is coming from. I got the impression that he was steeled by centuries of persecution and mutual mistrust, to the point of no longer recognising an altruistic motive when he sees one. I think the price of Gryffindor's sword is also fascinating, since Griphook is entirely in his right to demand it. But Harry and the rest can't give it to him for obvious reasons. When Griphook then simply takes the sword in the vault, not waiting for it to be given to him, the moment is almost bitterly tragic - not just because he was expecting to be double-crossed, but because Harry, Ron and Hermione were ACTUALLY debating double-crossing him (at least Ron was). It widens a cultural divide that was already huge to begin with. Also, Griphook doesn't openly betray them as he does in the film. He joins his fellow goblins crying "thieves!" so as not to betray his community, but it doesn't really damage Harry, Ron and Hermione's chances, since they've already been unmasked as thieves. I do acknowledge the controversy about the goblins, but I remember being intrigued by Griphook in a positive way. Because he wasn't a typical grateful damsel in distress, and his dialogue implies that he has a very good reason for mistrusting wizards - one which is unfortunately confirmed to him.

Maybe the Harry Potter snakes store their venom in their blood?

@@ragerasse7616 i mean not saying this was explained or anything but snake venom sacs are usually in their head right around where peples ears are so could have been stabbed through a venom sac when he killed the basilisk /shrug OR the sword is just magic and its some sort of "inherent property" thing where you don't necessarily need to bathe the sword in poison, just kill a poisonous creature. but that'd be pretty weird and like why didn't the sword gain the power to petrify people too, so probably not that one...

Hermione’s parents going to jail because their neighbors thought that they murdered their own child is such a funny thing to think about.

I always heard it was Snape who killed Hedwig because she would give away the real Harry.

Pretty sure Hedwig purposefully flies in front of the spell to save Harry. So it is a good thing Harry didn’t put him in a cage.

What I learned from watching this series: Elvis the Alien would be totally OP if he had magical abilities.

Red somewhere that Voldemort respected Snape, and out of respect he was to spare Lily, but you know in the end, she was the one who willingly sacrificed herself, thats why he killed her in the end. When harry tried the crucio spell on bellatrix, voldemort whispered he had to mean it. Probably the reason why he couldn't use the killing curse on Snape. He was one if his best servant, and he really respected him.

except you totally mixed up the curses. You "have to mean" crucio because it essentially turns your anger and resentment and evil thoughts towards someone into horrific automatic pain signals in their brain. The Killing Curse, on the other hand, is banned because its basically a wizard gun. You can just point and click and kill someone. You don't have to "mean" shit. As an example, pretty sure that death eater didn't "mean" to kill hedwig, and yet... voldemort didn't use the killing curse cause snape needed to be left alive for harry to get his Pensieve tear and that's it. JK rowling, personality aside, is a pretty good but not great writer and her books are full of YA handwave stuff like that where stuff just "needed to happen this way" /shrug

@@jebbush6657 What ? the death eater MEANT to kill Harry, Hedwig flew in the way. And of course you have to mean the death curse : In the 4th volume, Crouch as Moody explained that if all the class attacked him with a killing curse, they'd probably only give him a bloody nose. You have to mean crucio, not out of anger but to REJOICE in the suffering of your victim. You also ave to mean imperion as in the total dominion of your victim and mean someone dead for the killing curse to get out of your wand. You are saying obviously fasle information as if its gospel. And then you accuse JKR of being mediocre because of your false information... come on dude.

I remember when the second movie came out I went to a packed 3D double feature. They handed out special promotional glasses that were Harry Potter style. I still have them and use them any time I go to a 3D movie

12:33 Harry, recognized that he needed to do this much earlier in the book. In fact, he knew almost immediately and tried it out the same day the snitch was given to him.
