The Decline Of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years has been in demand for decades by fans worldwide, and is now available with a new 2K digital restoration. It’s a fast-paced look at the outrageous heavy metal scene of the late ‘80s. Set in Los Angeles, the film explores fascinating portraits of struggling musicians, fans and star-struck groupies. This raucous and uproarious chapter features Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Poison, members of Aerosmith, Kiss, Motorhead, and performances by Megadeth, Faster Pussycat, Lizzy Borden, London, Odin and Seduce. The film will be released this June in The Decline of Western Civilization Collection deluxe box set, featuring all three Decline films, each with a new 2K digital restoration, a 40 page book, and extensive bonus features.

For you guys that think this is a put on : I was a guitar kid in Hollywood a couple years after this, and I partied with Motley Crue 1 night. Tommy Lee pulled this same stunt, he got a bottle of Vodka from the bar & guzzled it spilling a lot of it over his face and down his shirt ; and then collapsed and passed out on the ground, all he could say to me was "thank you", until their security had to carry him into the limo & that ended the party. His GF Heather was clearly on smack, she looked like hell. Nikki & Brandi seemed pretty straight and chill, pretty mellow folks. Anyway this was during the time when they were all marketed as clean and sober but this kind of chaotic mess was pretty typical for what was actually going on. Hollywood had not been cleaned up, my GIT roommates were living like this too. I saw it all first hand.

When he said " I don't dig being the person I am" that is the most brutally candid thing for any celebrity to say in front of a camera. He was being completely transparent and exposing his real side that had been masked under a drunken wild man in a metal band. He even quickly responded "Uh yeah a lil bit" when asked if he drank to cover up some pain. He was telling everyone something was wrong and people just laughed. Thankfully, he came out the other side clean and sober and is still here unlike a lot of guys who weren't near this honest

+The Devil Penelope, the director of the film, gave an interview and said so. That's her talking in the background of this video footage. But she did say Chris guzzled more than half of one of those bottles straight before dunking it in the pool water.

"“There were certain things we had to manipulate. The sequence with Ozzy, that’s not really his house. And we faked the spilling of the orange juice" -Penelope Spheeris This is faked too. That was not vodka in the bottle.

Pretty sure the filmmakers admitted it's about 50/50 pool water and vodka, as Chris had been dunking the bottle earlier in the interview. But it feels to me like the scene is still shocking. That's still him, heavily drunk and spilling his guts, and even if it is mostly water he guzzles that bottle like it's second nature.

Jordan Wicks, if you’re drunk enough to drink a 50/50 mix of chlorinated water and vodka, you’re plenty wasted enough.

@ryanjacobson2508

A lot of people who've worked with Spheeris don't respect her. Decline part 2 was a hipster hatchet job on 80's metal, with staged/heavily edited interviews designed to make the artists seem like fools. On Wayne's World, Dana Carvey and Mike Meyers both thought that Spheeris was a poor judge of comedy and they had to fight to get some of their best stuff into the movie. It's weird that someone like Spheeris got so involved in late 80's/early 90's youth culture because she seems to have so little ability to understand it.

People are questioning wether or not its real vodka, but didnt he specifically make a point of opening the seal of the bottle to the camera? It could have been staged for all i know but it seemed pretty legit to me
