Here is the first little teaser from my Demon Hunter Trilogy build! Some major boss fights in Origins! This guy was pretty fun in Origins, because he was literally immune to every effect that I would consider annoying in the game: spells, stun, knockdown. If you like my videos, you can support the channel here: www.buymeacoffee.com/akisherceg 🍕 Thank you! :)
Yeah, no matter the game, Status effects can be a real pain! A character build around being immune to those effects can be quite frustrating for its opponents.
This is the kind of templar I wish we saw in Dragon age 2. Seeing how often we‘re confronted with Templars, it would’ve actually made them very dangerous enemies (or potent allies) if they could just drain your mana and cause massive spirit damage instead of being generic warrior npcs.
What kind of templar?) In video he never used any templar ability) guess templar spec was chosen because of the armor and mental resistance) Best templar was in the inquisition)
@@fraisertinkoLook at Gaxkang's fight, look at the character's stamina. That's Templar's first ability: drains the mana of mages and demons by 25% of the damage you deal to them, and gives you the same amount in stamina. Sure this means, as Alistair points out in-game, that Templars are just regular warriors when they're not fighting mages and demons. But in Inquisition it's not even that, some Templars abilities only work for demons and not mages (the damage portion on Wrath of Heaven for example). Meanwhile Holy Smite will damage anything it hits, it'll just damage mages and demons much more (perhaps not all demons, I'm not sure if all demons have mana).
@@fraisertinko It's hard to use Templar abilities on non-magic users... Dragons are straight up immune to everything you can do as a Templar(this is true for Inquisition as well). Loghain is not a mage, so the best you can do is stun with Holy Smite, which does not worth it in terms of stamina cost, when you can just obliterate him with two-handed skills. Gaxkang is where you can see the big advantage of the Templar against magic users. Not only you are completely immune to magic(thanks to that Templar only armor), but you will never run out of stamina to fuel your high powered attacks. No other Two-Handed Warrior has this easy time defeating that creature.
@@AKisHerceg yeah but…you can just nuke him with the mana clash) and any other mage or sensitive to the mana clash enemy) That is the problem with origins) Nothing can beat the mana clash, so the Templar is mostly a useless spec) Yes, you can invent some challenges and prove that Templar can be used very effectively in 1% of the all fights in the game, but…)
@@SaganTheKhajiit the Templar in the inquisition have a combo) wraith of heaven + spell purge will result in high damage combo) combine it with a specific weapon and crafting material and you will receive one of the strongest character in all dragon age games) And compare this Templar to the Templar from origins who can occasionally throw some damage at mages and…well that’s all)
I remember creating a very powerful S&S Champion/Templar/Spirit Warrior Warden way back. This however makes me want to create a 2h version with a far more cutting edge towards damage input!
love the content as always man, keep it up! im replaying dao, no idea which number I'm up to at this point, and I'm trying out your 2h rogue build(cunning version). It took me a bit to get started, but man, it is soooo much fun getting behind enemies and giving them a BONK or a nice shave. Awesome ideas you have, cheers man!
Hey man nice video ! I've been looking around and can't for the life of me find an answer xD could you recommend the BEST tank build for each game ? I'm talking pure tank (don't care about damage) I just want to be immortal and hold aggro like in an mmo. Appreciate the help !
Templar spec seems boring and weak at first glance. But it's not bad compared to champion and even reaver specs. Most powerful and annoying enemies do magic damage, so the small amount of spell resistance is that much essential. You can always boost physical defences with dexterity and armour. Is this a correct assumption?
Kind of. The active abilities you get from the Templar spec are not that great. Holy Smite is basically a low tier Mana Clash(you have to boost Willpower to make it stronger which is pretty bad), but also has a high chance of crashing your game. Cleanse Area is just annoying, since its Friendly Fire removes your magical party buffs. The cool thing about it is its passive that lets you leech a mage's(or anyone with a mana pool) mana and replenish your stamina with it. As you see it with the Gaxkang fight, you will never run out of stamina if you fight magic users, because every hit will drain their mana and refills your stamina. This is also the only warrior spec that can achieve 100% magic resistance in Dragon Age Origins, because the Knight-Commander armor(40% magic res) is Templar only(so 40%+ Spellward 30%+Maneuvering Belt 10%+ Key to the City 4%+ 2 Dweomer Runes 16%=100% Magic res). However, you don't get magic resistance by simply picking the Templar spec. You get 2 Magic and 3 Mental Resistance.
@AKisHerceg with 100 magic resist. You only need to pump dexterity to become the ultimate tank in the game. Even with 2 handed spec and passives. Very safe build. 👌 I didn't know it also regenerated stamina. Still learning new things from the game.
@@marcomongke3116 If you pump dexterity and go 2 handed you are going to fall asleep waiting for the enemy to die... you either get champion subclass + sword and shield to giga boost your def for free and pump minimal dex everything else str, or you go dw dagger.
@Borntolagagain never tried dexterity focused 2-handed warrior. However, I have always been curious about it. With the slow attack speed of two handers, yeah, it could be so slow combat.
I really like your build) Is it possible to create a canonical Grey Warden build? What is your strongest build? The Templar has always seemed to me the most useless class) especially when compared with others, but you have turned this class into a killing machine.
Mind sharing a little sneak peak for DAI build (Gear mainly I meant) ? Can this build solo the game ? Really think the Templar spec is a little bit weaker than the other 2 specs when concerning soloing game. Thanks in advance.
Still working on it in Inquisition. The equipment will be Templar themed gear with a great sword. If I would not go for the aesthetics, I would naturally get the Superior Battlemaster armor and the Axe of the Dragon Hunter. True, I would say the Templar is the least capable of soloing the game out of the three. Then again, Amulet of Barrier fixes that. :)
@@AKisHerceg if in that case, stamina using will become the issue as we cant use the amulet of renewal, and Templar is very skill dependent for damage ?
@@AKisHerceg if there's a way to improve passive stamina regeneration, the build will be perfect, as crowd will be dealt with by the Wrath/Purge combo, and the bosses should be eaten by the whirlwind of death :) Looking forward to seeing you deal with elite single entity with the Templar.
@@tamhuynhminh2833 Templars are lame against bosses who are not around minions(like Dragons for example), because there is literally nothing that would boost their damage(To the Death - Champion), or any spammable ability that can cause lots of damage on a single enemy(Dragon Rage - Reaver). The often used tactic is Walking Bomb Masterwork procced from the Weakness combo, which can deal up to 200k damage on a boss by an exploding minion. Whirlwind is also cool, with Rising Winds you can create some nice damage(especially if you proc Walking Bomb or use Earthshaking Strike first), but bosses have a ton of health so it would still take a lot of time to bring them down. Other than this, your only two good skills against bosses are literally Pommel Strike and Combat Roll. The end. Pommel Strike has 20 sec cooldown, Combat Roll has 2. So yeah, sadly the Templar is just plain garbage against lone bosses. They are simply not made for them.
Being immune to stun, knockdown and slip means the only non-magical ways to stop you from moving are traps and grab attacks like Overwhelm. Actually really funny to see an Ogre full-body tackle you and you barely get pushed back while still smacking said ogre.
How did you fix the nearly 50 % gamecrashes when using the 4th Templar ability? Coz of a vgx bug it has a high probability of crashing the game. Huge downer to play as a Templar :(
Maybe. I did get a request for a W&S Reaver Trilogy Build, so not sure yet. Sadly Trilogy Builds take a lot of time, and I simply can't afford not posting frequently now that my revenue has been cut. I can put out more content for each game separately than something that is "synced" throughout all three games. Plus Dreadwolf is around the corner(although who knows if it will be any good), so not sure when I would even have time for them anymore. And there are the personal stuffs as well, family/work problems etc. So not sure about it yet. We will see! :)
@@AKisHerceg Sorry, you are right big man. Personal stuff is more important than long projects. Whenever you got time I got a trilogy suggestion. The front approach rougue and the hexer mage. It is interresting how you gonna implement the templar spec in all games
@@AKisHerceg oh... sure, I didn't pay attention 😅 You made me want to play this game again after 10 years, for real. Speaking of mods, I only played the vanilla version of DAO without DLC's even. But now I have the complete version with all DLC's - would you suggest some mods as well for better re-walkthrough experience?
@@ductusfructus I don't use any other mods other than the Visual Annoyance Remover. My game is horribly unstable without it, so I have to use that. Other than that I would only suggest cosmetic mods, like skin textures, hair styles or faces. I'm completely out of the loop when it comes to mods to be honest. There was a time when I modded the crap out of this game, but I have been playing it without mods for over 8 years. :)
