The Strifflerson Sisters are reunited again for another one of our all-time favorite Halloween movies. It takes place ON Halloween, so it counts! Regardless, Tower of Terror is an annual must-watch that we've been quoting and referencing since we saw it as children. While it's reasonable that nobody knows (or knew!) about When Good Ghouls Go Bad, it truly baffles us that nobody ever talks about this one. Time to find out if we're taking this elevator all the way to the top... or the bottom.

Makes me feel mad that California Adventure took out the twilight zone aspect of the ride. Hearing that before going on the ride used to bring chills to my spine as a kid.

So some fun facts. The actress who played Sally Shine also played her in the fake twilight zone episode created for the ride. The brief shots of the ride during the day were shot while the ride was in full operation. The camera angles had to hide the tourists at Disney world. The interior was a recreation of the actual ride lobby. Near the end all of the bellhops near Q are actual Disney cast members. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror originally opened in 1994 with 3 other variations across the world. To this day only the original and the Paris versions maintain the theme of the Twilight Zone. I met Steve “the Gute” Gutenberg and I can safely say he was one of the nicest and kindest people ever. He had some fun stories about this movie but noted it really didn’t set the world on fire. He was kind enough to sign my Hollywood tower hotel bellhop hat.

Slight correction, I do not believe the Tokyo Tower of Terror was ever themed after the Twilight Zone, probably because the show is very obscure in Japan.

This movie is underrated as HELL! The performances in it go from fine to solid to _'Oh my god, this old lady actress is SO GOOD! I'm _*_CRYING!'_* I looked her up and she started in the Old Radio era of performing and made around 650 television apparences, including The Twilight Zone episode _'The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street',_ which is one of the most frightening in my opinion. I'm so glad she got to play something fun yet emotional like this in her older years, espeically since hollywood has the idea that actresses have experation dates like milk, and if they aren't cemented as a superstar before their 40, they're DONE. So it's nice to see someone so talented and skilled get their shot again, even if it is just a disney tv movie taht probably won't go anywhere. WE remember *_Amzie Strickland_* from this. and that's nothing to shake a stick at.

I was literally just remembering this movie today and wondering if it was a fever dream because after I watched this one time as a kid I never saw it again and no one said anything about it since. @@nicolea2839 I have to tell you, I love being a bellhop as my interactions with guests and the hotel make it all worthwhile. But it does give you another insight that most people don’t/shouldn’t see but I have enough love for the tower where it doesn’t bother me. It’s truly awesome.

Amzie Strickland, the older actress who played Abigail, was born in 1919 and was an active actress from 1937 (the year Disney Snow White came out!) to 2001, and passed away in 2006. She starred in about 2 dozen films, made appearances on around 650 tv episodes, and also did many tv movies (like this one) and commercials. She literally did at least 1 tv episode or 1 movie *literally* every single year of her life between 1937 and her retirement in 2001. THAT'S why her acting is so dang good and why the moment about the birthday party reveal gets you! (I also tear up at this moment, you're not alone!)

I would love to see a genuine horror movie series surrounding the Twilight Zone. We’ve only ever gotten shows or movies like this but imagine a full movie going into such a terrifying mind bending world with amazing characters and suspense. They can even keep the anthology theme as to not worry about connecting movies that are supposed to be trippy. It’s the perfect thing the horror genre needs right now

Personally, I miss the Tower of Terror ride in LA. Went on for the first time, the last year they had it, before it was redesigned as GOTG. The Guardians ride is fine n all, but it isn’t what the Tower of Terror was imo. The movie really isn’t all too bad like it’s camp but it’s fun. The park has also recently done a thing for the anniversary where you the tower has a bunch of projections and you can see the 5’s silhouettes all finally dancing in the tip top club

The writer and director of this movie is also the creator, executive producer, and main writer of Are You Afraid of the Dark? That's why this movie is so much better at horror than other Disney Channel attempts... and way better than the trash fire that was the Goosebumps tv show.

Obviously this was a year ago but fun fact: yes this movie was filmed at Hollywood studios in The Walt Disney World. At the time when Hollywood Studios was called MGM Studios and they used to film actual films (not very much) and animated features including the last 2D animated Disney film, princess and the Frog
