Yeah, it always bothered me how devs will block off a hallway by putting a luggage trolley or some shit in front of it. IF YOU DON'T WANT US TO GO THERE, JUST MAKE IT A SOLID WALL.

@@lavetissene339 Bit hard sometimes when the level is partly set in, say, a motel car park. Not always a wise use of limited production resources or conducive to pacing to have literally every front door of every motel room and the corresponding bathrooms and hallways open to a fully modelled area. You might spend ages making custom explorable rooms with unique luggage and shampoo bottles and suspicious stains on the pillow slips that the player can pour through, stretching your budget and possibly distracting from what you’re actually trying to convey with the level. Or you could copy paste the same identical rooms over and over, wasting the players time and making your gameworld feel cardboard and empty, as if no one actually lives in it. Worst of all, you could have a motel car park where only three of the rooms have doors and the rest look like smooth, faceless sealed off tombs, spoiling all sense of discovery and looking completely bizarre in the process. There’s supposed to be an unwritten contract between player and developer where the player understands the developer can’t simulate the entire universe for them. Sometimes it’s best to just use carefully art directed context cues to communicate what the focus points of the level are. Personally my favourite solution to this problem is to visually establish a code for what doors are enterable, with important doors standing out with richer, brighter colours, extra details and nice, grab-able looking handles. Meanwhile un-enterable doors are flat, drab and low contrast, pretty much matching the paint job of the wall around them, and either have thin handles, or a lock and no handle. If you repeat these door textures / models and stay consistent, pretty soon pattern recognition will kick in for most players and they’ll learn not to bother with certain doors, and will head straight towards others. It’s the same logic Portal uses to teach us what surfaces are portal-compatible.

At this point he name Tom Clancy is just a tag to help sell games. Basically it is to "realistic" military shooters as Sid Meiers is to 4x strat games. It is kinda sad though. Rainbow 6 did come from one of his books and was a departure from the bullet sponge shooters. Might as well throw Tony Hawk on there instead for all the sign of quality the Clancy name has now.

My understanding is that Tom Clancy wasn't terribly involved in writing most of them near the end of his life anyway. It was mostly ghostwriters subcontracted out to do the details. That's how he can write long detailed mysteries in exotic settings at the incredible rate he did.

I personally think most of these modern "Tom Clancy" games (and most likely the novels) are an insult to the genuinely good products he was alive to create / be on board for.

Why not play both? The amount of time I've spent in the Division 2 and Sekiro are worth the amount I paid for them. And they're both totally different genres.

Just because you spent time on something does not mean that the time was worth it. If i spend 60 dollars on going to an amusement park for 8 hours and having the time of my life that I fondly think about for the rest of my life and in contrast I spend 60 dollars on a game that I spend 40 hours playing to ultimately be disappointed in due to a lack of solid endgame or a satisfying payoff, I'll take the 8 hour day hands down.

From what I've gotten from him and others it's not so much a bad game as 'just another live service game' which we are currently nearly drowning in and The Division 2 is not that much different from The Division aside from setting. These types of games might have some fun parts to them but they are essentially an MMO-lite game and most people don't have the time to devote to more than one or two MMO style/multiplayer only games each day.

It's actually really fun.

@Eeron :3 It sounds like the development team took the feedback they had with the original Division, especially during its choppy release, and used it in the development of Division 2. The lack of that was something Bungie got flak with regarding Destiny 2 and why it's probably only hardcore fans of it that are still playing it.

@Troy Dittmar let's not fool around. It's just an update to a half finished game, and slapping a 2 on it. It has no story, no building-off point, no characters, no setting, no interesting bits just guns and bullets. Some of which arent yours for now. The Division 2 is just 60 dollars/euros for un update on The Division 1... For which you already payed god knows how much. And division 0.6 was a retextured version of Wildlands, which is a crappier version of... Actually no. Not wasting my breath anymore.

Hardly a story, basically he was suppose to stream division 2 but he got so bored with it's mind numbing gameplay that he switched games to devotion. He says it was the same thing only one's better than the other.

For me it was Anthem, but I still play video games. In fact, Anthem made me go back to Minecraft and reading. Ah, simple, innocent, and sprawlingly(?) creative Minecraft. I'm sorry that I put you away for some many years. The only detractors that are worth time and money are games like Doom (2016) and RE 2(2019). This is literally current gaming in a nutshell.
