@@jiggingjerks Hi Jigging, the 350, knock on wood, has been exceptional. Running 35-40 mph in open water it's averaging between 3.2 and 3.7 mpg. Which I'd say is great, especially with a full tower. The torque is outstanding. The boat planes off very quickly. And the duo prop keeps you straight with no torque steer. Forward or reverse. Makes running and mooring up really nice. That said, you really do have to be careful in a following sea when on plane. I've had few cases where the bow stuffed and with all that torque it dang near sent us under the water. All in all, very happy we went with this engine.

Agreed. Sucks about the name though. Kind of petty on Sea Fox’s part. No boater I know of would ever confuse the two brands...

He has a “new“ boat in Florida that you will see soon. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag. I did help him find that. I’ve actually written manufacturers for him with no luck. It’s amazing to me that one of these brands doesn’t hook him up with a small boat for Long Island. The marketing would be insane. Look what he did for gulp and Accurist reels.

@@jiggingjerks my father wanted the front seat options for the girls when they come but there is still plenty of fishing room thankfully lol. We did have to add 4 rod holders up the sides cus scout thinks were gunna do more drinking than fishing hahaha. But overall a great boat. And yes skinner can paddle out on a boogie board and limit out 😂😂😂 hey John quick question and i hope you get this message but what battery should we buy for the trolling motor? We dont want to run 3 batteries lol so thinking just the 1 lithium any suggestions? Only being a 22 were trying to hold back on some extra weight lol

One lithium will work. That’s what Rick added to his 32 Metal Shark. Only downside is cost. I paid under 600 for 3 Group 31 AGMs at Sam’s Club. A single 36 volt Lithium will be 3 to 4 times that cost but you save on space and weight.

Chrysler 115 outboard that smoked like a bastard. The boat was originally a 1979 walk around that had an electrical fire. I gutted it, rebuilt the deck and crafted an ugly CC. I bought the only motor in decent condition that I could afford, the smelly Chrysler. She weighed 5000#’s and was way underpowered, however, I was at Cuttyhunk nearly every weekend. I loved that boat.

I didn't like what I read. I remember someone commenting that Sea Fox should hope they got their name confused with Sea Ox, it could have only benefitted them.

I owned two Maycrafts and they were both 10 degree hulls so different. Where it gets confusing though is that I believe MayCraft used an older SeaOx mold that was 10 degrees. To further complicate it, JB 23s are a 12 degree deadrise boat. The Pair is 14 degrees. So to summarize, lol, while they all share the same North Carolina variable deadrise heritage (I.e., a very deep entry that tapers out to a flatter stern), they are all different hulls. Hopefully that wasn’t too confusing....

@@jiggingjerks pair is a hidden gem. Way underrated and up and coming. Follow them on the gram. Everything that crank out is beautiful. The deep V 24 with flip up tower would be DIRTY in the keys. Run up the Everglades, reef, offshore tuner

You should be between 3 1/2 and almost 4 miles per gallon at 4000 RPN and 40 miles an hour. If it were me, I would definitely do the 24 deep V with a Suzuki 300. I’ve never heard anyone complain about having too much boat and too much deadrise. That’s my opinion only

@@jiggingjerks Yes I agree. Now I just have to get the wife to agree 🤠. I think the bigger 24 actually 27 with the bracket would be really great when we do go offshore and really comfortable for plenty of people when we're in the bay. Most of the time it will only be three of us but when my brother-in-law comes it will be 7 five fishing. So the extra space would be very nice. When it's just my wife and myself and my son the 21 would be fine but a little bit small for offshore. Have you been offshore much out of Ocean City? I fish the same waters! If it were me, I would go 24 deep V. Range and speed are good on the 21 modified. I think the range is better than the speed. If you were just staying in the bay and sound I think the modified is fine, but for 30 miles offshore in our waters, if it were me personally, I would do the deep V

He loves it and in fact just trailered it back up to the Northeast from Florida. The MV rides very well but for your waters, I’d do the DV and yes, will require more HP unfortunately. Agree on PH if you are fishing in winter. I’d look closely at the Parker and Northcoast 23 Pilothouses in addition to Steiger.

Very easy to trailer. Motor warrantees depends on the brand. I know Suzuki offers six year warranty is during certain times of the year. Yamaha does a five year at certain points of the year I believe most major engine companies start at three. Not sure about the boat warranty but I presume it’s a minimum of three and a max of 10. That seems to be the norm in the industry

I think length over Vee in this instance. I’d do the 24 MV personally. I have a 32 Sea Vee right now but would frequently take my 10 degree 23’ Maycraft to Montauk as long as weather was good

I think it was designed in 77 by two engineers that left Grady. I could be wrong though

I’ve owned boats that were bone dry and others that always had a little bit of water down there no matter what. One of those boats that always had water was a super expensive Everglades. I don’t know the science behind why some do and some don’t but I presume somewhere on the deck water gets in overnight from the rain and moisture.

@@jiggingjerks my Boston Whaler always had fresh water in the bilge and it drove me crazy-hated that.just had too many channels in the floor system before it got to the scuppers.my Grady White on the other hand was always bone dry...

Depends on options but bare bones probably 60s and it can go up from there…..

I’m pretty sure that was the livewell overflow. Boat is getting a redisigned ping pong ball scupper from factory (actually en route). I think this is the trade off of a lower floor to give you a deeper feeling in the boat coupled with a modified version. I owned two Maycraft previously that had the same issue. Owners of this boat with the ping pong ball style scuppers don’t have that issue so I’m presuming it will go away once Sweeney puts them in

I have a scupper issue. Feel free to reach out in a few weeks as it should be taken care of. Great for noticing and pointing it out.

@@johnsweeney1400 only reason I notice is I have a issue my boat. But it’s more of an issue then scuppers. It’s just shitty design. I have a 23’ key largo cc with an open splash well and whenever I anchor in a good choppy sea get waves that come over the transom. Splash well fills and water some water goes into the boat. Not Ever enough to cause concern, as the water drains out but end up standing in about 1/8” of water in the stern during these moments. My next boat closed transom no question. Thanks for reply. @@jiggingjerks hey buddy-can you also include me on that video of this boat running in rougher water. I love the boat but apprehensive to get one because of the 14 degree deadrise. I sold my Parker 21 SE with 14 degree dead rise and it rode ok but had to repair transom wood split issue.

I think that’s part of the cost being low - a lot of $$ used to create new molds for things like consoles
