I have. When Bottlegate happened back in 2001 (when the refs broke the rules to go back two plays to review a catch and it cost the Browns the game). And we know how that ended lol.
@Argyle Dante Donovan what calls or just the blanket statement ...... Bad calls don't mean anything but bad calls..... I guess the calls were good enough to get Cincinnati to the AFC championship .... The only bad call it's the call Cincinnati made calling Arrowhead burrohead . .
I was angry for him and I’m a Browns fan. Refs should be absolutely locked in during the playoffs and they couldn’t even get a play clock right MULTIPLE times
@@TheyCallMeRabbit98 They were adjusting the Game clock. The Play clock resumed as it should after the ball was adjusted. However the result of the previous play was an incomplete pass, meaning the game clock should have stopped. The head ref stated after the ball was adjusted, "The game and play clock will start on my whistle" in which the game clock started again. That should not have happened. The refs did not notice the game clock has started until after the play began, causing the controversy. The play should not have been allowed to happen, and the game clock should not have ever started again. A mistake that SHOULD NOT have happened by a head ref in the NFL playoffs. Absolutely unacceptable mistake. He should be fired for that.
Love how Gene tries to cover "for the noise factor" when a team is at home on offense, they crowd isn't being loud and Mahomes is 4 steps into his drop before that ref runs out.
You know what? Your absolutely 100 right!!! Maholmes was already into his drop ball was already snapped!!!! Unreal how they done bengals. Gotta throw flag on side line on #58, also a Emmy flop, by maholmes, cheifs o line held every pass play all night. Just unreal how one sided this game was called. Go back look at spots on 2 punts by kc. 1 ladt time bengals got ball which resulted in fg, right before halftime. And 1 where kc punts to bengals with 2:30 left in game. Look where ball rolls out on 1st one, and where it is spotted. Last one goes outta bounds in air.?????????
This comment alone proves there was no rigging going on. The ref ran out to stop the play before anyone knew KC wasn't going to convert. This is just typical Internet chatter and people reading into things.
I am a Steelers fan and I can’t believe what I saw. I’m at a breaking point with this league between the officiating, roughing the passer penalty, and overall incompetence.
Yall do realize why it was a redo, right? The ref fucked up. He said game clock and play clock to run on his whistle. The play prior was an incomplete pass. The game clock shouldn't have started running only the play clock.
@Dyll816 also not a chiefs fan and I don't agree with him. The refs let the play run as usual and even let the punt team get set up, then say "oops sorry you get a redo" no thats not how it works
The crazy part about this is that the refs messed up with the play clock on a dropped pass and then messed up again by not fixing it correctly the first time and only fixed it after a play had already happened. It's like a triple whammy into why the NFL officiating sucks and needs to change. Also remember last years game between these two when a play stood, as it correctly should have, even after the whistle was "blown"? Weird how they actually get it "correct" here isn't it. Correction, it wasn't the game between these two that had the call last year, it was the Bengals vs Raiders game.
you're missing the point, they intentionally set this up as a back up plan in case the Chiefs didn't get first down there. if they made the play the ref would not have made them re do the down. this was most blatant rigging of a sports game ever. also the refs didn't mess up and reffing won't be changed. this was not their decision, they are obviously taking orders from someone above and did a good job of swinging the game in KC favor.

1:04 is the exact moment that needs to be discussed more here. He clearly states that both game clock and play clock would start on his whistle. The ref made a mistake with what needed to happen, which is what caused this fiasco to begin with. Edit: One - I'm saying all of this as a Chiefs fan. Two - I will re-word how I said this. I know the play before was an incomplete pass. How I see this is that the ref said both play clock and game clock start on his signal and the operator did as the ref had stated. When this happened live, I was confused as to why it was replayed as he had stated both should start, then said only the play clock should have started. This entire situation should not have happened to begin with if the ref had not messed up. That one instance has cause a commotion that will not die down for a long, long time (if it ever does).
yep. it was an incomplete pass, game clock was stopped, they reset the play clock to 10 after re-spotting the ball, then he mistakenly said to start the game clock and play clock. and that line judge down the field noticed it as they were about to snap the ball.. you can BARELY hear his whistle tweeting, but he definitely was trying to stop the play pre-snap.
It started before with the "incorrect" ball spot, but if you look at it , it seems off by 6 inches, basically the same length the center moves the ball before a snap anyway. Insane sequence of events
Correct, and everyone's pissed because it seemed to hurt the Bengals, but they still would have done the exact same thing if the Chiefs had converted. It would have been called back. Just imagine the shitshow if KC had gotten a first down or even a TD and had it nullified over this! The ref had no idea who he was screwing over when he fucked up, because he had no way of knowing what was going to happen on the next play. It's an epic mistake that he'll never live down, but fans calling it an example of match fixing or being "rigged" are just completely detached from reality. Gene Steratore literally explained what happened and why on the broadcast. It didn't even end up affecting the outcome of the game, anyway.
Watching the replay of this makes sense, I didn't pay attention to the game clock during the game, the incomplete pass stops the clock, yes he made a mistake saying start both. Let the haters hate.

The most insane part is you can clearly hear the whistles on the play before at the end of the play and you can watch the ref in the back with his whistle in his mouth ready to blow it if it's a delay of game but he is not waving his arm or anything. There really should have been an investigation into that ref with all signs pointing toward corruption.
First they say “reset the game clock to 10 minutes 24 seconds” at 2:14 then at 2:23 he says “game clock will start on the snap, 10 minutes 29 seconds”. these refs have no fucking clue what they’re doing
I’m not even a fan of either team. But this is the first time I’m actually siding with the nut-jobs that think the NFL is rigged haha. Those last 30s or so of that game was CLEAR intention to give KC almost every opportunity to FINISH that game with a W, hell, they even helped them run down that clock. And I’m not even going to get into all the horrible calls in the other 3 Quarters. If I was a Bengals fan I’d definitely be upset too. Something needs to change in this league, very quickly. I’d start with getting rid of Goodell, but even then, I doubt that would stop all of the absurdities. Look at this from a economic standpoint. What’s the bigger draw for the NFL, KC vs Philly or CIN vs Philly. There’s only one right answer. Hell, one of the NFLs biggest podcasts is the Kelces brothers going back and forth promoting the league more than anyone else has for decades. They know this, because regular television is in the tank, and what better way to have 2 of your players (already under contract by the NFL=no added cost for them) providing free advertising and breaking into an avenue (the internet) which they’ve always had a problem getting into. And the sole reason they always had a problem with gaining traction on the internet is because the league has been run by geriatric old men for decades in decades. They literally have no proper connection to young people and what they want. It really is starting to add up to the WWE 2.0 with these antics. 2 weak calls in a row that all led to an easy breezy FG with just a few seconds left on the clock.

Didn't the Niners game have worse officiating? And the Chiefs had no WRs, Kelce had a bad back and Mahomes with a bum ankle. They were very injured as well
The amount if do-overs Mahomes is granted is insane. I remember during one game against the Chargers I think early in this season he got 3 extra tries in the red zone due to bs penalties. Its like the refs had the flag already in their hand ready to throw it in case Mahomes failed to get the touchdown.
As a chiefs fan this was disgusting. This is why the integrity of the game comes into question. Getting plays right everytime isn't the problem, these guys refuse to admit their mistakes and correct them in live time. Everyone would respect these situations more if they just flat out said " we were wrong and we're changing it"
or if they just said, "We want the Chiefs to win, so we'll rig the game", rather than these dipshit announcers trying to justify the scam. How many times after an incorrect penalty have I heard, "That's an easy call" when my eyes told me the opposite.

He got out of the way and let the play run so he wouldn't get creamed. Doesn't change the fact that it is a dead play, TD, pick 6, sack, etc... Doesn't matter. They fixed the clock and ran it again. I just watched this to see where the confusion was at. I still don't get how people didn't understand what took place here. It took them awhile to get the explanation out is the biggest problem. The ref screwed up with the clock adjustment and told the operator to wind the clock on his signal. That was incorrect as the previous play was an incomplete pass and so the clock shouldn't have started until the snap. The official that watches the clock ran in to shut the play down because the clock was running early but the snap took place. So the play ran even though it was a dead play and then got brought back. This happens quite frequently that plays get shut down but the snap still occurs. I believe you see it most frequently with false starts.
Romo blaming crowd noise while the home team is on offense. The fact that they waited until well after the play had been run, and the Chiefs punt team was on the field, ready to go, is ridiculous. Maybe the original 3rd down play SHOULD HAVE been shut down, but the play certainly wasn't shut down. At best this was sheer incompetence by the officials.

The other play that got me was when the Chief player extended the football for the 1st down while he was stopped and brought it back into his body before his knee hit the ground. If a player makes the first down and voluntarily retreats giving up the 1st down where he is tackled, they mark the ball where he is tackled. Then to compound the issue, they didn't even measure for the 1st down. They just gave it to them.

Especially in important games, the officials can pretty much control the outcome with one or two penalties that probably shouldn't be called, but can't be denied, or not calling a blatant foul. For example, you could call offensive holding on just about every play. I wouldn't if I was an official because that essentially defeats the purpose of the O-line, but theoretically they could. When the Raiders choked against the Rams, that wasn't entirely their fault. On the Rams game-winning drive, Maxx Crosby got held horrendously 3 times, and one of those was in the Rams endzone, so it should have been a safety and the game would've been over. But none of them got called, giving the Rams the opportunity to win that they never should've had in the first place. Something needs to change.
We are supposed to believe that crowd noise prevented the referees from communicating while the home team was on offense? And the whole play happened and they decided a redo was the best course of action? That is absolutely stupid.
NFL marketing wanted the Eagles and Chiefs to be in the Superbowl. All the Andy Reid VS his former team stories, Kelce brothers. No other matchup of the 4 final teams would be the biggest talk the next 2 weeks. If you don't believe they would try to ref a game for a favorable outcome to a game that will be shown to 2 billion people worldwide, you trippin hard....
@Coolyioy not at all, I had no dog in this race. I'm a Panthers fan that's getting sick of the NFL all together because of BS like refs that allow teams to line up only to stop them, when the offense has had chance to see the defensive alignment, only to move the ball a few inches. Then they take forever to "correctly" start a down that has already been played out to the point where not only were all the players ready, but 6/7 refs were too.
After this game I’m willing to engage in the “NFL is rigged” conversation. In the very least the refs are being encouraged to call the games in a specific way. And with the legalization of gambling there needs to be independent investigations into the NFL.
Can you name 3 incorrect calls? The refs took 2 tds and an int from kc... but they were correct calls. All flags on cincy were legit penalties. This flub didnt even matter.
@@whitewhale9012 coping with the fact that your fav sport is just fantasy lol. i barely watch football and could easily tell something was up all game.
So obvious they had a plan in place to impact the game. The intial stoppage of play was to reset the ball, but it took them 31 seconds into the play clock to figure that out.
If it was a clock issue usually they just add time after the play. Why would you grant a do over to fix the clock. "The play was shutdown. Noise was a a factor" Weird how every other play you could hear the whistle just fine. And it wasn't even that loud at the moment
It’s not “weird” that YOU didn’t hear it because you are relying on microphones from a tv broadcast that cut out often. And nobody on the field heard it because Arrowhead is famously loud and nobody was within 25 yards of that ref. One whistle versus 70,000 fans screaming on a third down play
Bogus Calls Against Bengals as Documented by a Non-Bengals Fan: 1) Do-over 3rd down play that cost the Bengals field position and 1 timeout in 2nd half since the Chiefs converted another 1st down with Eli Apple's defensive holding 2) Bogus intentional grounding where Perine was in the area 3) Multiple missed roughing the passer calls on Burrow based on how it has been called this year (one where Chris Jones landed with full weight on top of Burrow and another where a Chief clearly pushed Burrow down WELL after the play) 4) Missed block in the back on final Chiefs punt return that set up game winning field goal 5) Missed offensive holdings on Mahomes' last run as he miraculously stopped pretending to limp with his fake injury 6) Ridiculous late hit call with Mahomes flop out of bounds that was a dumb play by Ossai but also mostly influenced by Mahomes' absurd flop from a light tap by Ossai 7) Phantom DPI call on second to last drive by Chiefs that even Mike Pereira said was bogus
The do over was the right call. The clock was running when it shouldn’t have and you can the official trying to stop the play before it started. Plus it had zero game impact.
